Hypothetical How Would You Feel If Disneyland Reopens With These Restrictions

If I were local, I’d comply with all of this happily to get inside the park.

But traveling from out of state when I only come twice a year (I know, “only” right haha) it’s not worth it to me. I’d rather wait it out until next summer.
Yes, this exactly. It would be the dealbreaker that would lead me to postpone a trip. Those experiences are important to my family.

Haha me from the past is now totally different from me of the present. We’re full steam ahead for end of September with flights booked and a huge supply of Disney themed masks on the way. 😂

While we will miss the parades and the shows and things, we're still going. Partial Disney is better than no Disney at all, and while those things are part of the magic, they aren't all the magic. Our touring style is go-go-go and oh hey, if we happen to be available when a show or parade is happening, cool, but since we aren't usually big show and parade people anyway, I'm not too worried about it. It does change our upcoming trip a bit - we'd planned 5 days so we could be more relaxed and plan for more shows and things (I *still* won't get to see World of Color, darn it!), but we'll find a way to find that time.

I will miss the characters meets, H not so much. Although I will say that I LOVE the times they're just out wandering, so I hope that is still able to happen, and that they just have enough handlers to ensure social distancing. They're nothing like walking through Fantasyland, turning the corner, and spotting the Mad Hatter!

As for the rest, totally fine. We figure we'll carry lots of sanitizer with us anyway, and we're currently working on figuring out which masks we prefer. I'm ordering some neck gaiters today to give those a try. I wear glasses, so it's really important that I find something that doesn't cause my glasses to fog.

This has been my view all along, especially for my now cancelled September cruise. I held out hope for so long for June Disneyland trip and would have been happy just sitting on Main Street reading a book,.

No problem with public safety rules. Will be upset if we were to go and they weren’t being enforced. Then it’s just safety theater.
HERE HERE.....well said !!! If you don't enforce it from the very start then it will never stick. If on the other hand you escort a few violators out of the park the word will spread fast and you will have very few problems going forward.

I support all of the safety rules being imposed, and actually would not go if masks weren’t required. Over the last many weeks, the importance of masks over virtually all other safety measures has become evident, and I’m a little worried about the direction Orange County has taken. But, I’m hoping that by staying onsite we can limit ourselves to a Disney mask-wearing bubble. I also don’t care about the parades or nighttime shows, or the fact that each and every ride and restaurant probably won’t be open.

My biggest concerns at this point are (1) the airplane; (2) unexpectedly getting a fever/testing positive in California and being trapped there (where would we go?!); and (3) social stigma back home for having gone at all.

Your 1st 2 concerns are genuine however for number 3 do not let that stop you for going to Disney. I have had this conversation on another forum, that there will be huge anger and conflict aimed at those of us who have not been financially impacted by Covid 19, and who can continue going on expensive holidays . The fear of social stigma is real but you need to have the confidence to stand up to them and not let those bitter and jealous people stop you from doing things you can afford.

Thanks 🙂 I actually wasn't thinking so much of the cost piece though; more of the COVID shaming that comes with doing anything outside the house. I can just see us being talked about by friends, relatives, and coworkers - "Did you hear the EmJ family is going to DISNEYLAND? What a bunch of selfish jerks. They can go on vacation another time. It's a freaking pandemic for crying out loud, what are they thinking?!" Times one bazillion on the off chance we actually bring something back with us. I'm thinking if we go, we will self-isolate at home for 7 days and then voluntarily get COVID tested before going anywhere. My son starts kindergarten 13 days after we would get back. That's enough time, right?

Right?! 😭

yep you are right Covid shaming will be real issue unfortunately. :(
This has also crossed my mind. I’m still going though lol

Oh yeah, I’ve had this same exact thought. I will probably refrain from posting anything on social media about it. I’ve already had issues with family jealousy/judgment in the past due to my travel and just general economic differences... I don’t want anymore!

I honestly don’t see my trip to DLR anymore risky than my 21 year old cousin that’s been having huge parties with her college buddies during this whole thing. 😂 I feel like I can justify DLR because of the immense safety precautions Disney will take and all the ones I will take when we travel there. We don’t plan on leaving the bubble- once we arrive we’re staying put at our hotel (we’ll be on site) and the parks. We also plan on getting tested when we return and quarantining.

I definitely don't plan to advertise it, though at a minimum I would have to tell my team at work. We're still working remotely though and I haven't/won't see any of them for months. I'm probably just being too sensitive.

I have a trip scheduled for mid Sept with my 10 year old son for his birthday. He's been looking forward to this for a long time and when we discussed maybe having to wait until January, he was so bummed. I told him the parks were opening and he was thrilled. Trip is on! Then I told him about masks and he said he didn’t want to go and wanted to wait until Jan. I was shocked. He wears his mask here at home without any fuss. He has to wear it in and out of swim practice and has worn it a few times to the store. I pointed Out we may still have to wear them in Jan so he’s thinking about it. I’d never give him this much say in a whole family trip, but since it’s just us, he can decide.

The fear of Covid shame is real here too. I’m a first grade teacher and wI’ll need to take a day off. And then two days off at Thanksgiving if our cruise sails! I’m going to try to keep it mums.

Maybe we should start a "fear of covid shame" support group, lol.

I actually texted one of my coworkers for a gut check on how mad she thinks everyone would be at me. She said to live my life and go :)

But I'm still thinking/freaking out/changing my mind every ten minutes.
