I'm NEVER staying home for March Break again! FINISHED 07/17 Just in time!

March 22, 2012, Part 6: California Adventure
We went in to DCA because we were hoping to watch Aladdin. We had lunch (got the yummy chicken strips- same as at WDW). I got a kids chicken strip meal, and they were the same as the adults, just less, with apple slices for my side. We went up towards Aladdin and found out that we’d be climbing up all the stairs and Blanche was not feeling up to it. We stayed around thinking about the next show and the Pixar Pals went by again so I snapped pictures of them.

We decided not to wait for the next Aladdin show, but we were determined to see it eventually. We roamed some more shops…

He posed just for me! And I messed up and took a blurry picture! Grr… I need to focus more! I think I’ve learned a lot, even just since I got my new camera (June 4th, a new Canon 60d) and I’ve taken over 7500 pictures on it already!!! I’ve been tagging along with an incredible wedding photographer and learning from her too. (If you’re from PEI and lurking here, and you want a great photographer for family photos or a wedding, PM me and I’ll give you her name… She really is awesome and she’s friendly and nice. I only met her when she did my friend’s wedding in October, and we’re now friends and I tag along learning from her!)

Anyways, back to the blurry Mr. Incredible… It almost works though…

March 22, 2012, Part 7: Alone again

I took this because she’s a tour guide!

Untitled by disneyfreak0306, on Flickr

And then Blanche went back to the hotel as she was still not feeling the greatest.

I went to Turtle Talk with Crush. It’s such a fun thing that Disney is so magical like this. I love when cartoon characters talk to the audience! The children ADORE it too.

This thing was pretty amazing. It showed us how to make it look like it was a movie, but it was just spinning really quickly with flashing lights.

March 22, 2012, Part 8: Still Solo

I wandered around, but I felt lost without my friend! It’s funny, I can do whole solo trips and be fine, but when I have someone with me, I feel kind of funny without them! I think this trip coming up, I’m preparing myself for more alone time again. It’s a solo trip with a bunch of time with a great friend! LOL I wandered the shops, saw Muppet Vision 3D, which makes me laugh every time, and then was back at the hotel by 4pm.

I guess I went back down to the little gift shop in the hotel (it was nice having it in the same building, to be honest) to get a few things. (See purchase section!)

I think this was the day we ate at McDonald’s on the way in to Downtown Disney. We did a little shopping, then Blanche left a little before I did. We tried to put on a movie, but for some reason my laptop kept skipping. I think it was Tangled.

March 22, Purchases:

At the little gift shop, I bought a bunch of key chains as gifts for people back home, some orange juice, two bananas to go with breakfast, some root beer and some diet pepsi. $19.35 or $16.35 I have both written down!

At 7:00 I made a giant purchase at the World of Disney store. I love that store.

One of my sister’s had given me some money to get her kids some Easter gifts. I got 2 sets of princess dolls (she has 2 daughters, one has just turned 5, the other will be 2 in September and both are little Disney Freaks.) the sets were $12.95 each.
Mickey Mouse Bath Mitt (only 4 fingers!) $4.95
a 4 pack of sticky pads – I use them at school for labelling $9.95
Mickey Mouse muffin mold- red this time $14.95
Retro Mickey & Minnie Mouse salt and pepper shakers (in a car!) $14.95
Mickey Mouse glass cutting board $9.95
Mickey Mouse Nerd Purse $19.95
Mickey Mouse Sandwich Cutter $4.95
Mickey Mouse Salt and Pepper set (gift) $14.95
Castle Piggy Bank (for my sister to save and take her Disney Freak kids to a Disney park) $16.95
Mickey Mouse trivet $11.95
Key chain $4.95 (3 of them actually at that price)
Key chain $6.95
Yellow shirt $29.95
Yellow tank top $31.95
LSMMSKTCHDRMGRYMD (I think it means a purple tee shirt) $31.95
Neon pink top $17.95
Fuzzy blue Castle throw (This was what you could get cheaper if you bought so much… I definitely qualified! This one was a gift for the third Golden Girl… You know, the one I’m ditching at her book signing to be at Walt Disney World!) $17.95

Total spent $358.59! (I need to win the lottery, imagine my Disney house I would buy and fill!)

All of those shirts will make it on our trip to WDW, and they are already packed, so you might see them yet. If not, I’ll take pictures to show you, because I can’t find them on the website anymore.

The purse is like this, but only a purse!

I think you will love POR, it is my favorite moderate resort. Have fun on your trip.

Thanks! I'm sure I will love it. When we stayed at POFQ, we walked over to POR for breakfast one morning. It has such beautiful grounds! When I booked the room, I asked for Mansions. When I did the online check in, I requested first floor in case we're in Alligator Bayou. I don't care which floor we're on if we're in the Mansions, I just think Blanche will have a hard time with stairs. I'll see when I get there what room assignment I get! I am so excited, I just can't wait!!!

March 23, 2012, Part 1: The start of the last full day

This was a sad morning. We woke up knowing that it was our last full day! We were going shopping at the Outlet mall and used a shuttle to get there. It was a great service. They picked us up, we paid (you can pay in advance) and they arranged a pick up time. You had a few options for pick up time. We had originally planned for 1, but then changed it to 3pm later on in the morning when we realized we were not done shopping.

We split up after the first store because we wanted to be faster. It made sense and it worked well. I made it to Levi’s to try on some jeans. I have to point out that I have a hard time finding jeans that I like, and shoes that fit properly. It’s not fun for me to shop for shoes or for jeans. Well, Diego helped me find a room to try on some jeans, and then asked if I’d been measured… um… measured? So he measured me in two or three spots and told me what type of “curve” I was. We don’t have a Levi’s store anymore, so this was totally new to me. Maybe you all know about it, but I didn’t! Apparently I’m a “demi” curve, not bold or slight. Then he found me some pants to try on, including some skinny jeans. (I never wanted to wear skinny jeans, but I’d already bought a pair at Charlotte Russe earlier in the morning, only because I’d bought a pair of cute boots back home and my sisters told me I had to have skinny jeans to wear with them.) Well, I ended up buying FOUR pairs of jeans at Levi’s. I was so happy and excited that I gave Diego a hug!

At a shoe store in the outlet, I saw a family that I know! They go to my church and I used to babysit the kids (that are now in high school!). Look on google maps, type in Charlottetown, PEI. Then look how far Charlottetown is from Disneyland. Yep, pretty amazing to bump into someone from home in Los Angeles. I’ve found students in Hollywood Studios before too. It is fun!

We took the bus back to our hotel and we rested and packed somewhat before heading out to Disneyland for the parade. I really wanted to see the parade and Fantasmic. If I did anything else that evening, it would be a bonus, but I was NOT leaving DL that evening without seeing those two events. (And Aladdin! Thankfully our flight was overnight the next night and I could still see it the next day).

We found a spot to hang while waiting the few minutes for the parade. I popped a zoom lens onto my camera and we people watched. There were tons of people around! I could really see the difference the weekend makes at Disneyland!

Blanche couldn’t stay in one spot as she was still not feeling the greatest, so she wandered in and out of shops while I took pictures of the parade. Sometimes she’d stay and watch a piece of it. I think a lot of it she watched from inside a store, but I could be mistaken, as I was focused on the parade. I couldn’t believe how many characters looked straight at me to allow me to take the picture. They are very observant!

March 23, 2012, Part 5: After the parade! Hahaha

After Blanche left, I wandered around, getting in short lines and taking lots of pictures. The plan was to wait for the 2nd showing of Fantasmic and get a good spot near the fence.

Here’s the parade crowd dispersing.

March 23, 2012, Part 6: It’s a Small World (yet again!)

It’s a Small World didn’t have too long a wait, and I’d wanted to be nearby to see about the show that plays on the building anyways, so I hopped in line. It was the longest I think I’ve ever waited for IASW, but it was probably less than 10 minutes.

March 23, 2012, Part 7: All Aboard!

I took a few shots of the show on IASW (the Magic, the Memories and You?) but I didn’t want to stay around and watch it. I wasn’t in the mood. I decided to hop on the train and go around the park to check out the area by Haunted Mansion. I wanted a great spot to wait for Fantasmic to be over so I could get a front row seat for the show.

March 23, 2012, Part 10: Fantasmic!

I found a spot, right by the fence to wait for Fantasmic. I sat down with my popcorn and diet coke and waited. I, of course, passed the time taking pictures, trying to figure out the settings I thought I might need for the show. And then, after at least 45 minutes, Mickey appeared!

March 23, 2012, Part 12: The end of my last night at Disneyland… so terribly sad!

Untitled by disneyfreak0306, on Flickr

I love Fantasmic! It was the first ‘nighttime spectacular’ show that I’d ever seen at Disney, and I saw it at (then) MGM on my first ever night at WDW. It makes me cry, it makes me realize that I’m at Disney. I love it. The DL version is awesome too. I loved it! The part with the ship is amazing. But I can’t pick which one I like more. I wouldn’t want the other one to be sad!

After Fantasmic, I wandered around, buying some last minute things so that I could pack them before bed. I got in line for Space Mountain, and it was going to be at least a 40 minute wait. I’m sure longer. But it was going to feel way longer because there was a group of people behind me who kept cursing, and if you know me, curse words really bug me. Not only are the words crude, but they just make you look like you don’t know any words. These guys were saying the F word a few times in each sentence. I was texting a friend back home, trying to pass the time, ignoring the cursing behind me and the make out session in front of me. He asked me where Blanche was, and I told him she wasn’t feeling well and didn’t ride. I didn’t tell him she was in the hotel room! It just would have made him worry, so there was no need for that, I was fine! I’d done it many times in Florida, what’s the difference here? I eventually just left the line, browsed some shops and then left the park. I wasn’t in the mood to wait so long.

Purchases for March 23:

Charlotte Russe

Some black skinny jeans (ultra skinny), 2 pairs of leggings to wear under dresses, two reversible tank tops $51.65

boot cut jeans $50
Demi Curve boot cut $45
Demi Curve straight leg $45

Total: Just under $139
The belt put me over an amount to get a certain amount off. It was worth it! I love the jeans so much that I might take a detour to the outlet mall after Mass and go to the Levi’s outlet and the Disney outlet. Hee hee hee

I bought some workout clothing at the Reebock store: $72.59

I can’t figure out the receipt, and I can’t remember what I bought at Columbia! I bought 2 things, one is a jacket and I can’t remember the other. It’s driving me crazy! I’ve even gone through my clothes to see. Oh well. That serves me right for not taking notes!
The jacket was $30 and the other thing was $15. Total came to $50.02.

Now, between 11pm and 11:37, I spent another bunch of money at 4 different stores at DL! I tell you, Disney shopping is my downfall! (Blanche and Rose, I totally blame you!)

March 24, 2012: Part 1: Our last morning! Goofy's Kitchen

We got up this morning feeling less excited than any other day. We had to go home. I was sad. I finished up all my packing and we left for Goofy’s Kitchen.

Walking through DTD was tough, as I love Disney shopping! I kept saying, “I’ll be back one day.” At one point a woman walked by us (heading towards the park) and I said that she looked like Willow from Buffy (who is on How I Met your Mother now). Well, it turns out that she WAS there that weekend. I wouldn’t have bothered her anyway, but it was fun to see one celebrity. Did I mention that my absolute favorite actor, Gerard Butler, ate lunch at the Farmer’s Market the day AFTER I had lunch there? Yep, he did. Don’t ask me how I figured that out! I was probably checking when his latest movie would come out and something else came up. Who knows!

Back to breakfast:

We said we didn’t want our picture taken with Goofy because we knew we wouldn’t be buying it. Goofy got all sad, so we said fine and they took one with my camera too. Goofy kept making, well, farting noises and pointing to Blanche! It was so funny! I’d never heard any of the non face characters make noises. I loved it, I still laugh about it every once in a while.

Here’s Blanche, putting ice in her coffee.

Blanche, do I always look this much like Rose?

I wanted to try this but didn’t have the courage. It just didn’t look good. I ‘d heard so much about it though.

Whatever this little thing was… it was good!

Look… it’s me, doing what I do a lot!

The food was decent character breakfast buffet food. We saw Snow White, Baloo and Dale at our table. They brought a cupcake out for Blanche because they saw her birthday button. They even sang to her, but I missed getting the picture because I was too busy laughing at Blanche’s expression of shock, happiness, and embarrassment all in one! We saw Rafiki when we were leaving. I’d stick with the other character breakfast we did. If I were staying at one of the Disney hotels, I would do this one again too though.
