May 3, 2003 - Magic Eastern Cruisers

Andy,
Do they think they can rest first.
It was nice to hear from 3 circles.
The rest of us wait.
Lynn

Am I still the only one back home?!

Perhaps everyone is in that post-cruise depression! ;)

Rae sent me an e-mail this morning, her son Michael has his First Holy Communion this morning so Rae was in a rush to get ready to leave the house for church. I'm sure she will post later. Sounds like she had a nice time, can't wait to hear more about the cruise!!!

Andy

Greetings! It was a wonderful, magical, memorable week! Thanks for the ship pics Andy- I will certainly be printing them for our scrapbooks.
It is great to be home, seeing the DH and the cats and the parrot is nice.
We had massive "issues " with Danielles flight home. YUP- she got BUMPED AGAIN> Delta is being bad- and I will be trying to find out what the heck they were thinking- bumping a minor TWICE!! Last night they had to put her up in a hotel since there were no more flights out of orlando- isn't it illegal to have a minor staying alone in a hotel room?? To top it off some man named Terry was short and mean to her when she melted down upon hearing that she had been bumped again. Noone knows Terry's last name but you can bet I will get to the bottom of this. Fortunately a ticket agent named Laurie took pity upon Dell and got her calmed down. I don't think this is right- do you?
Okay- I am feeling light headed and exhausted, but I will soon be posting a too long trip report to share our magical week with you all! Should I do it here or in a new thread? In the cruise forum or under the trip reports?
Talk to you all soon- right now I got to lay down before I have to head to the airport to pick up the dearest daughter. She is scheduled to land at 1:37 PM- fingers crossed that she doesn't get bumped AGAIN. I also have to get groceries into the house- sheesh- i know it isn't gonna begin to compare to the food onboard! And I have to wash dishes- ewwww. Laundry- YUCK. But the good news is I won't be ironing for a while!!:p

Jeanne, how did wrestling shrimp from Rae go? I hope it wasn't too ugly.

I was ironong more t-shirts this morning. My sister decided she wanted to join us on our cruise in August, so I had to make her and my niece t-shirts to match ours. It sure gets hot over the iron!!!

Sorry to hear about your DD troubles with getting bumped.

It will probably be best to put your trip report on the other forum, but post a thread or note here to let us know you posted a report.

Got to run, after church we are taking Hazel out for Mother's Day dinner at Applebee's, YUM! YUM!

Looking forward to reading your trip report!!!

Andy

Jeanne didn't stand a chance, Andy. I'm loaded for bear!

Poor Danielle - NOT AGAIN! Poor kid! I can't imagine that happening again. Please do complain to the airline they will offer compensation (often significant).

By the way, Michael was sad because Fidelio has left the Magic. We didn't even go to Dueling Pianos AT ALL. He did listen and watch the piano player at the Barnard's Wedding though.

Rae

Just back into the real world today after an amazing trip-first timers ;) :D
We missed all of the formal Dis get togethers due to traveling with a group of eight and Sooo much to do and see, but I enjoyed bumping into Rae and Jeanne along the way....sorry to hear about your daughter getting bumped again! Does this mean that you will get 2 free flights now? Our family of 4 was bumped on two flights to Orlando spring 2001 and got 8 free travel vouchers. Tough at the time, but worth it in the long run we thought.
Anyway, I wish everyone on the May 3-10th cruise a speedy re-entry and I look forward to reading your trip reports!

We got back late yesterday, had to go to Disney World for the day. Stayed at the Wilderness lodge. Had a great time on our first cruise. I have a trip report to follow in the coming days. I kept a diary of the events, both good and bad. Over all our first cruise was more than we expected. Will be doing it again, but may wait until both of the kiddos can get into programs. Has any one started a trip report for the May 3rd cruise yet? :smooth:

Welcome back everyone. I will be going on the Eastern Cruise leaving this Saturday (17th). I have a question for all of you.

Can anyone tell me the dining attires, what nights are what (semi-formal, formal) and what nights had special menus?

I have looked at Barb's (www.castawayclub.com) site and saw the April 5th cruise Navigator's but I am getting conflicting stories from other cruisers.

We are thinking of doing Palo's on the 1st night because we don't want to miss any of the special menu nights, etc.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys!!!

We made it back to TX at about 10:30 0n Sun. night.... AAAGGGHHH!!!! We may drive it again... BUT... it will be as we did it last time with planned stops in the schedule... not a "Drive it Straight Through Commando" style attack!!!

Just to be honest we did make a few stops on our way home.....

A few ABC stores.... looking for my Builtmore Century....

DIXIE CROSSROADS!!!!! YEA!!!! thanks Andy--- it is now a permanent stop on our Fla. rotations!! DH said it was the best meal on the trip after Palo brunch!!! I am really embarassed to tell yall how much we ate!!! oink.....

A Holiday Inn Express..... we abandoned the 'commando' plan at about 6:30 on Sat. night ......

Exactly 237 potty stops!!! Apparently both DDs had held it all week in fear of missing something in the clubs!!! ps....... My 2 dinners together plan got blown when the Animator's show was not working and I relented and let them go to their clubs. BUT-- I did get my formal pics!!!

DH & I are starting our report and it will be up in a few days.....

Can't wait to see all the other reports.... I know we didn't get to do everything...... so I want to read about the things I missed!!!

Is there a special 'UN-Packing Dance' that would ease the pain????

Barbara

I am unpacking dancing right now! While it may lack the energy of the pre cruise dancing ( I am POOPED!) my heart is still aglow. What a wonderful, magical vacation we shared! The weather was glorious, the ship was pretty top shelf in all areas, the food was out of the this world, the seas were calm, the sky blue- ahhhhhhh
But what has me dancing the most is the knowledge that we have created a family memory that will warm us all of our days. Forever. I travelled with three teens. I saw them in a whole new light. Watching them take control of thier schedules, doing just exactly what they desired to relax themselves and create thier own personal memories was wonderful. They are such self assured, mature young people. The cruise gave me a moment to step back from the everyday stresses and issues that come with rearing teens. I saw thrm as if from afar, from outside our everyday family situation. And I liked what I saw! Indeed I love what I saw. For the most part they handled themselves graciously and with good manners. Of course we had our occasional melt down episodes and our sibling rivalry crap but they really rose to the occasion!
So though I am sad that our trip has ended, I always knew it would, I am still smiling from Mickey ear to Mickey ear! Being a part of a teens world is a challenge but for one week, magic struck. We were reminded how much we love each other, how special we are as individuals and as a unit. How special is this? We are truly blessed beyond measure to have each other and to have shared this most special adventure together.
The trip was priceless and most certainly a treasured memory has been made. It was MAGICAL! Thank you beyond words Auntie Bon for allowing us to partake of this vacation feast! We love you.
So now- do I have to do all this laundry??:D

What an absolutely wonderful cruise. Perfect weather start to finish. Even won $250 playing slots in St. Martin (the little casino right by the water taxi stand).

It was so nice that we did the on board booking for a Western Carribean on May 8, 2004. It was nice to start the countdown to our next cruise while still on board!

Will post a trip report in a few days.

Hope everyone else enjoyed it as much as we did!!!

Barbara,

I knew you would love it, that's why we are having lunch there after our cruise is over in August before heading to MCO for our evening flight home!!!

Andy

Yeah!!!! I now can offiialy say I have all the suitcases emptied and the laundry done and put away and I'm ready to get back in here and post :Pinkbounc

So did all of you have as much fun as my family did??? It was soooo nice meeting all of you. Scott and I were saying how great it made the trip, to beable know several people every where we went. It made the trip more fun...THANK YOU!

Don't forget to post all of your trip reports! I can't wait to read them. I'm starting on mine....I wish I wrote things down :( I thought at the time "Oh I'll remember what I did everyday" Well, I guess my memory isn't as good as I thought! (Was that 4 nights at the Dueling Pianos or 5 nights??? Was that 5 days at the pools or 6 days???) Oh well, I'll just have to make it as an overview of the whole trip.

Until next time, take care

Hey - we're back too! None too pleasant 28 hour journey back to the UK! Still we were smiling throughout due to a truly memorable experience.

Very sorry also to hear about Jeanne's daughters trouble. Let me tell you Jeanne and Auntie Bon are wonderful people!

While Disney sure did their stuff as expected- particularly touching and memorable were the overwhelmingly generous gifts, good wishes and generosity of so many people who had never met us before. That was truly incredible for us.

We too promise a trip report within the next few days. We have lots to tell - and lots of pictures!!

Best wishes to all

This thread had grown eerily quiet! I have begun posting trip reports in that area of the dis board. I am looking for the rest of yours! Write it down before the details escape you!
Let me add to what Matt said above- it was great to meet so many of you. It would be cool to continue to grow our friendships in this cyber place! So please stay in touch! This cruise may be over but that need not end our joy for life! Have you been reading the post responses re: Delta's treatment of my DD? It is getting rather hot in there....lol

Jeanne -
I just noticed your countdown clock!!!!!

You crack me up!

Plan to be on the April 2005 cruise - I'll take you on again!!!!

Much love!
Rae

Just made it home after a long (only 18, not 28, thank goodness) trip from Orlando. We were lucky to have 4 more gloriously perfect days at the World after our cruise. What a perfect vacation, made the better by so many of you. Trip report to follow soon -- and this year, I'm actually going to finish it!!!

Cheers,
Cindi
