Nemesis Challenge:It's OK to Finish Next-To-Last, As Long As I Beat HIM/ Its Here!!!!

You ever see a sea turtle get angry? OK, neither have I, but I can imagine it's pretty gruesome.

They are a lot like Crush. Pretty laid back. Here is one of his younger brothers.

There is a problem on the program. No mention of the dinner Tim is springing for all the runners.

The Cheetah ran about 20 miles this week. She is ready for the full and planning one more long run before the race.

She also received the "Dossier" on Paul. Along with the tape that self destructed describing the mission.

I think they wanted to keep that a secret. Don't want to scare Tim into not coming. Besides, its funner to watch his reaction to looking at a bill for 25,000 dinners.

Nice!

Excellent. I have complete faith in Agent A. :thumbsup2

Ok, it looks like I'm in E, bib #49831. That was without a 10k time submission. It looks like that's right in the middle of the corrals. I wonder if I should bother bringing my 10k time to move up or not. :confused3

What time did you have on it? I'd certainly bring it and try to move up. You know how Chris has metioned having to dodge all the slow runners. If you move up you get to miss a bunch of them. And better yet - you get to BECOME one to someone that didn't bother moving up! Remember to box out and throw elbows if someone ties to pass!

I have a 10k time of 1:07:55. Both of my sisters are running too and they both have faster times than me. One got placed in E with me and the other got placed in G (and she's the fastest of all of us). I think we'll all be bringing our times so we can try to start together. We certainly don't want to start in the back.

Yeah How on earth did I not get put in the last corral!!!! I am in F :confused3:

This should be interesting...

So Sunday's run was interesting. I had gotten about 1/2 a mile from home on a route that I've run or walked probably hundreds of time. I cross a normal residential street, and all of a sudden I'm being chased by two dogs. The lead dog appears to be some kind of Pit Bull mix based on the shape of the head and jaws, but a bit shorter and stockier. His buddy looks like a beagle mix but a bit taller and longer. Both are barking like crazy and come up on me fast. Knowing that dogs have a strong predator/prey instinct, I stopped running and turned to face them. Both had collars and tags, so I at least knew I wasn't dealing with wild dogs. They circled me for a little bit as I stood there holding my ground. So I gave them one of those Crocodile Dundee animal mind tricks

and they backed off.

Soon the smell of a tree caught the beagle's attention and he pretty much forgot about me. I tried walking up the Pit Bull, but he was all bark and no action, turning and running into the street, circling the long way around me and back toward where they came from.

So, Andy, your pickup was Hulk Smashed, your dogs have been been reduced to whiney little puppies, and I'm still running. What else you got?

Well some of us other dads all got our corral assignments. We are all in the same corral. Seems we were all put in the bachelor pad corral:drinking1 . Well good luck to those of you that got a lettered corral.:)

Oh Barry you are going to be so shamed !!!! You are starting in "B" ? Oh this is going to make Tims victory even sweeter!! I predict he passes you oh say about the 3/4 mark...Maybe they can move you up to the "A" corral so it gives you even more of a headstart.:wave2:

Not my dogs... My pit bull mix is part pit bull and part blue heeler. He's too lazy to chase anything though. He might sit up and bark, but wouldn't pursue you over 10 feet. :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Like this guy?

That would be a lot more intimidating if this was a triathlon. They're pretty easy to outrun on land.

Ohhh thanks for the link.

If you were able to download your waiver, it will have your bib number on it. Then go to the Half marathon site and click "Runner Info" Scroll about half way down the page and they have links to "View Your Corral Placement"
Ohh thanks for that link too. I'm in "B" too.

I hope to be back later to respond but I wanted to give a little update-

I've been doing really well with my running and last week I ran the longest I've ever run 8 miles! I've been trying to fit in 2 shorter runs then a long run each week. My 8 mile run was easy and I could of ran longer. I was really amazed. Every run my upper ankle/ lower inside part of my shin has been hurting pretty bad. I've been running on it while putting the pain out of my mind. It usually hurt bad for about 1/2 a mile then it kinda went away till I stopped running.

Today I went for one of my shorter runs... a 4.6 miler. My leg was hurting the entire run.... then my right leg started hurting around the same area. It was hurting to the point that I thought about stopping and walking back. I pushed through and finished my run. When I got home and out of the car, I literally limped to the house. I was in serious pain. I immediately started icing and I got on the phone again with the orthopedic specialist to try to get an appointment. They said the earliest was the last week of January. UGH!!!! I tried to sweet talk them, told them how my wife spoke to the doctor at work about my leg and how he said to call for an appointment, told them I was running in a marathon in 3 weeks, etc. I'm not sure what did it but I ended up with an appointment this Friday at 10:15. I am anxious and scared to hear what he thinks.

I was doing some research this afternoon and I think I might have severe shin splints. I scoured the web and found some exercises for shin splints. I am currently trying those.

I really want my legs to feel better.... then maybe I'd be enjoying running. :sad2:

Well, congrats on the longer runs and I'm glad it its getting easier. I hope you can get this pain taken care of, and most importantly, I hope it doesn't keep you from running in January.

Yes That stinks..... :crazy2:

Hopefully you will get an answer and be able to deal with it and run.

Not sure what you said either but I am sure saying that it hurts and and you are running on it and have a race, indicating that you will continue to run on it may have given the scheduler some pause to fit you in. :)

Good luck and I hope it is not a race stopper. pixiedust:

Yes, you need to bring your time with you. You can move up and avoid any walkers. That will help your time. :thumbsup2
