Pregnant youtuber denied boarding on Disney Cruise

I'm pretty sure the "guys with guns" are either from the port authority or TSA or HS or ICE - not DCL armed guards. The other thing she said on the news report was that they had boarded the ship and were waiting for their KTTW cards and then were escorted off. Say what?? Makes no sense as anyone who has cruise ANY cruise line knows.

I understand disappointment if you can't go on your cruise, but she knew enough to ask her doctor for a note, she should know enough to look up the rules. Don't blame Disney for enforcing the rules, especially ones put in for your own safety. Do you remember the woman who gave birth to a preemie a few years ago on a cruise and they actually declared it dead before they realized it was barely breathing? I believe she had not been truthful about how far along she was also IIRC.

Sigh - I wish people would stop expecting everyone else to accommodate them when they clearly are not within the guidelines to safely cruise at 25 weeks pregnant, and then she posts that "This world is scary, beware of Disney":

Everyone has done a great job commenting on what this woman did and how ridiculous it was.
I'll just say this kind of "journalism" drives me crazy! I hate the way they selectively report and twist things.

There's no such thing as bad publicity, I guess.

Did really no one in their party of 10 could tell the difference between "men with guns" as law enforcement officials vs DCL CMs?
She can't possibly think that people are going to side with her when DCL has explicitly displayed their policies throughout the entire pre-cruise process, from booking, to check in. Why would she want this kind of undue stress for herself, weeding through nasty comments, effort to delete them, while pregnant, and juggling 2 tots?

The sad part is without DCL telling their side, her video is well edited to make it look like DCL is in the wrong. So if the journalists just pick up her video, it will look bad to a vast majority of people out there that aren’t informed like we are.

As much as I have disliked the media for years now, they are guilty of not thoroughly investigating the story, but not sensationaling the story. I really wish DCL would release the video to show what led to the police being called out.

This just sucks for DCL, because it doesn’t appear they did anything wrong, other than maybe the SS card/number thing.

Cruise law news reports she was compensated $5000 for missing the cruise. No reason for a lawsuit.
Unless she had cruise insurance that makes me mad. If I don’t book cruise insurance and don’t make it to port on time due to an airline cancellation or car accident, I would not be reimbursed. But this lady, who clearly is trying to circumvent the rules gets reimbursed? Ugh. I have never been pregnant on a Disney Cruise, but I see the disclaimer each time I cruise when I fill out the paperwork. It’s very clear. She brought the note thinking she could make a fuss and cruise anyway.

Especially since DCL even specifies that a doctor's note is not accepted in cases like this.

https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/faq/health-safety/pregnant/

Women who have entered their 24th week of pregnancy as of their embarkation date or who will enter their 24th week of pregnancy during the cruise will be refused passage due to safety concerns.

Neither a doctor’s medical statement nor a waiver of liability will be accepted. In addition, Disney Cruise Line cannot be held responsible or liable for any complications relating to pregnancy at any stage.

I suspect it was cheaper for Disney to pay the $5000 instead of court costs. Going to court would have given DCL more bad publicity -- paying off the pregnant woman was probably the safest way to go. Still, it's maddening that she got away with it.

I would've rather see DCL give them refreshments, some Mickey Bars and a plush for the kids while they waited outside, then send them on their merry way. It would've been the kind, humane thing to do, but not give future copycats ideas. She showed up attempting to violate all counts of DCL's policy for pregnant guests.

I was surprised to understand how much DCL sticks to policy but it sounds like it is an industry-wide standard and she would have been denied if it was on a different line as well. Also I read an article that her biggest issue was the military guy in guns that scared her and her family.... this was supposedly her excuse for putting up a big stink.... I don't buy it and I am glad Disney stayed consistent with policy. Also impressed with the fact that they refunded her cruise even though arguably she lied on the check-in documents.

It was the police. If she is going to be scared of children seeing law enforcement with guns, I highly advise her to never travel anywhere. Basically every port and airport will have armed police or military. Probably should also avoid large events like festivals, concerts, etc.

The problem is that we don’t know why they were sent outside. It could have been justified if they were causing a scene. If that is the case than the right action was taken. This is one of those times I wish DCL would just release the full unedited security footage to show exactly what happened.

I agree that the media is being very irresponsible by not fully researching this story. I have become increasingly disgusted with how the media's goal seems to just be to "destroy," in this case a company, as opposed to actually getting the full story. Very sad for our society.
Mark Twain: "There are laws to protect the freedom of the press’s speech, but none that are worth anything to protect the people from the press."

However in the comments of a video critical of her account, she kept posting that she is not getting a refund. When pressed for clarification refused to provide any.

A group of adults, causing a scene of any kind that draws attention in a public place like a cruise terminal, airport etc., is going to draw a police response and they will have guns. And you will feel intimidated, at least I would. I also would not try and circumvent the rules and then protest. But that is just me.

How many people would really want to copycat that idea? Break the rules and miss your cruise that you may have been planning for years because they might reimburse your fare. No thanks!

Well there's comments from other people who were there and witnessed it.
Shockingly it seems she 'accidentally' missed out the part the her family played in it....I don't know why...

Glad you screen capped them. I understand from another forum that she is deleting any comments that don’t support her warped perspective.

If people have video of this they should forward it to DCL, which I have to believe they have video too. It really is starting to sound like DCL could sue them for Defamation (had to look it up). This would be a good lesson for the Vloggers that you just can't say anything and paint a false picture of a situation. Would be a good battle for DCL to pick even if they lost a little money in court costs to set the precedent.
