THE CHEW Collective
  • Grilled Beef Skewer with Romaine, Apricots and Feta Cheese
  • Ricotta and Zucchini Ravioli with Rustic Tomato Sauce
  • Peanut Butter and White Chocolate Mousse with a Caramel Drizzle

I don't do chunky cheeses, but have heard good things about the Beef Skewer. Might have to stick with the Mouse for that reason unless they can leave the Feta off the skewer.

China
  • Chicken Pot Stickers
  • Sichuan Spicy Chicken
  • Black Pepper Shrimp with Garlic Noodles
  • Beijing Roasted Duck in a Steamed Bun with Hoisin Sauce

The duck was fabulous last year so it still has my vote!

Chocolate Studio
  • Liquid Nitro Chocolate Almond Truffle with Warm Whiskey Caramel
  • Red Wine Chocolate Truffle
  • Ghirardelli® Chocolate Raspberry Torte

Probably the almost truffle, but also intrigued by the Chocolate Raspberry Torte

Craft Beers
  • Pimento Cheese Dip with Pretzel Crisps

  • Piggy Wings: Fried Pork Wings with Korean BBQ Sauce and Sesame Seeds

  • Radeberger Zwickel Pilsner (Unfiltered)

Or here either...

Canada

  • Moosehead Lager
  • Neige Premiere Apple Ice Wine, Québec
  • Fielding Estate Red Conception

Maybe the Red Conception?

The Chew Collective
  • Festival Chardonnay, CA
  • Festival Cabernet Sauvignon, CA

Meh, maybe the Cab?

China
  • Tsingtao Lager
  • Strawberry Plum Wine Cooler with Takara Plum Wine
  • Ritzy Lychee with Courvoisier Cognac VS and Smirnoff Vodka
  • Kung Fu Punch with Smirnoff Vodka and Bols Triple Sec

I'm thinking Happy Peach.

The Chocolate Experience: From Bean to the Bar Hosted by Ghirardelli Chocolate Company

  • Lasseter Family Winery Amoureux Malbec Blend, Sonoma Valley
  • Terra d’Oro Zinfandel Port, Amador County
  • Ghirardelli Drinking Chocolate

Maybe the Malbec.

Chocolate Studio
  • Fonseca Bin No. 27 Port
  • Justin Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Rosa Regale Sweet Red Sparkling Wine
  • Blandy’s Alvada 5yr-Old Madeira

I like Justin wines so maybe the Cab? (But I'm not a huge Cab drinker so...)

Whet Your Appetite Wednesday: Food & Wine Booths F & G
Pre Planning Our Eat Around the World Crawl
(Or by the end of the night…rolling around the world)

1 epcot.jpg

Trying to find ways to pass the next 34 days, so Wednesday is going to be officially called “Whet Your Appetite Wednesday” because Cupcakes like eating and most of this trip will be focused around Food & Wine (and yes running). Now that the F&W booths/menus have been released, let’s start pre-planning some our Post Race Sunday Eat & Drink Crawl around the World (information, rules and requirements later) by circling the World Showcase in search of the best snacks…

Farm Fresh
· Chicken and Dumplings: Stewed Chicken with Mushrooms and Spinach
· Pickled Beet Salad with Herbed Goat Cheese, Minus 8 Vinaigrette and Toasted Walnuts
· Loaded Mac ‘n’ Cheese with Nueske’s® Pepper Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, Peppers and Green Onions

2.jpg
I am so not passing up make and cheese loaded with bacon!

France
· Croissant aux Escargots: Escargot Croissant with Garlic and Parsley
· Soupe à l’oignon au Gruyère et Cognac: Gruyère and Cognac Onion Soup
· Boeuf Bourguignon: Cabernet Sauvignon-braised Short Ribs with Mashed Potatoes
· Crème Brûlée Caramel Chocolat: Caramel and Chocolate Crème Brûlée topped with Caramelized Sugar

3.jpg Technically we have already eaten and had our drinks in Epcot with the Parisian breakfast, but who can pass up a macaroon?

Germany

· Roast Bratwurst in a Hard Roll
· Schinkennudeln: Pasta Gratin with Ham and Cheese
· Apple Strudel with Vanilla Sauce

4.jpg 5.jpg
How do I decide? I don’t… I need both the Bratwurst and the Apple Strudel!

Greece
· Vegan Loaded Greek “Nachos”: Pita Chips, Meatless Sausage Crumbles, and Vegan Tzatziki
· Oikos Greek Yogurt Vanilla Cake Soaked in Ouzo with Yogurt Whipped Cream and Pistachios
· Spanakopita
· Chicken Gyro with Tzatziki Sauce featuring Oikos® Greek Yogurt

6.jpg

I sure wish they had that yummy fried cheese! So instead I am forced to go with the vanilla cake with lots of yogurt!

Greenhouse Guru
· Duck Confit with Creamy Polenta and Fire Roasted Salsa
· Heirloom Tomato Salas with Goat Cheese, Aged Balsamic Vinegar and Micro-Basil
· Chilled Tomato Gazpacho with Lump Crab Meat
· Mini San Marzano Tomatoes

7.jpg 8.jpg
Let’s get a little bit adventurous…having the duck confit, cause I love polenta and the gazpacho sounds perfect!

It’s 5 O’clock Friday: Food & Wine Booths D-F-G
Pre Planning Our Drink Around the World Crawl
(Or by the end of the night…teetering around the world)

01.jpg

ONLY 4 MORE FRIDAYS!

In order to pass the time away, instead of Cupcake Friday’s we are going to take a look at cocktails around the world…since we are partly fueled by cocktails. Maybe we can find them a little more readily then the cupcake disappointment we experienced on our PHM Cupcake Crawl! Following in line with Whet your Appetite Wednesday, let’s begin to focus on F&W and our Eat & Drink Crawl around the World that we are planning for Sunday after the race (Rules and Logistics to come later).

So bartender...

Pour me somethin' tall an' strong;
Make it a ????
It's only half-past twelve but I don't care.
It's five o'clock somewhere…
And there is so little time!

Desserts and Champagne

I am hoping that once again I can grab me a nice glass of bubbly and watch Illuminations!

· Woodchuck Raspberry Hard Cider
· Wyder’s Dry Pear Hard Cider
· Two Henrys Elderberry Hard Cider
· Florida Orange Groves Mango Mama Wine

Thrifty First Thursday of the Month
Update on September Earnings/Savings

Thrifty Thursday.jpg

Time to count up the Disney pennies…remember I am trying all the unique ways I can to earn my spending money without taking anything out of my household budget.

Goal of $1400
PURCHASED MVMCP Ticket $91
PURCHASED 6 Day Park Ticket $378
7 Day Expenses (Spending/Meals) $900

September was the last real big push for this trip. Lately getting gift cards from Swagbucks has been taking forever so I am not sure about getting everything cashed out on time for the trip…but I already know the next trip is in the works so I can just apply anything that I don’t get done towards that trip, right?

September Earnings
$208.44

Swagbucks

November $25
December $75
January $100
February $25
March $75
April $75
May $75
June $50
July $50
August $75

September $75
Amount Earned for Trip: $700

I am totally amazed that I have earned this much in less than a year with this website. How freaking amazing!!!

Walmart Savings Catcher
Amount Earned for Trip: $81.14
I never expect a bunch from Savings Catcher, so what I do get is always a treat! In September I earned $9.16.

Shopkicks
November to January $25
January to April $25
April to June $25
June to August $25

Amount Earned for Trip: $100

I have totally been slack with shopkicks…sigh. I need 1800 more kicks to reach my $25 reward. I sure don’t see that happening this month.

PERKtv
May $25
June $50
July $50
August $25

September $25
Amount Earned for Trip: $175

It was a struggle this month to earn that $25. The apps and the website is constantly having issues.

IBotta
Amount Earned for Trip: $110.25

I earned $32.75 this month with iBotta. WHOA, lots of good rebates that we would actually use.

Check Out 51
Amount Earned for Trip: $15.40

I earned $9.65 this month. My best month every, but I am not sure I am going to get to $25 to cash out for the trip. I will probably just let it build and use for my next trip.

Children’s Exchange Consignment Clothing
Amount Earned for Trip: $154.00
Dropped some clothes off and cashed out…$50 more in my account!

Pact
Amount Earned for Trip: $65.36

Training for W&D certainly is paying off with another $6.88 earned for getting my steps in and tracking food/veggies.

You are doing awesome with the savings! I only have a little over $10 in Checkout 51 so it will probably go for the next trip. I don't see myself cashing it out any time soon.

I can not wait!!!! 3 weeks from now I will be living it up in the Magic Kingdom with my Momma! It's going to be so much fun!!!!

Congrats on all the saving - you're doing great!

Okay, time for more drinking.

I think in Hawaii I'll go with the Kona Brewing Company, Big Wave Golden Ale ... I had one of their beers at Trader Sam's in January and I liked it, so I think I'll try another brew.

Let's see ... Hops & Barley ... much as I am a fan of Sam Adams, I think that Orange Spiked Tea is calling my name too ... it sounds delicious!

Intermissions Café ... I think I'd also go with the Moscato. I'm a big moscato fan.

Ireland's tough since it's 50% pumpkin and I don't like pumpkin. Maybe I'll try the Kilkenny Irish Cream Ale.

For Islands of the Caribbean I have to go with the sangria. Sangria's fun.

Italy's tough ... a lot of good options. I think I'd go with the Prosecco.

Japan I'd also go sake. I still have never had sake ... I have to try it!

And I'm with you on Joffreys ... must stop at all kiosks!

2 more Fridays! You'll be there so soon!

Since I am going to be gone next Thursday on a business trip and the following Thursday I will be on a plane bound for HOME I want to finish up Thrifty Thursday...

Thrifty First Thursday of the Month
FINAL TOTAL for Wine & Dine Trip

Thrifty Thursday.jpg

When I started out on my Disney Pennies adventure last November my goal was to pay for this trip without dipping into my household budget. So how did I do?

Hotel DVC Rental $616
Actual Cost $0
I already had this saved up from a tutoring job I did last fall of 2015…I had wanted to make sure that I was able to rent DVC BC at the 11 month mark!

Plane Ticket $397
Actual Cost $0
Purchased with SW Rapid Rewards….mostly due to putting DD college tuition each semester on my Chase Rapid Rewards Card and then paying off from savings.

Race Registration $352
Actual Cost $0
Purchased by writing a couple extra Professional Developments for my school district in the spring of 2016 and then presenting them in the summer!

Now for the Disney Penny Apps….

My Goal was $1369 based on:

MVMCP Ticket $91
6 Day Park Ticket $378
7 Day Expenses $900

Total Amount Earned for Trip: $1401.15

cards.jpg

Swagbucks $700
Walmart Savings Cather $81.14
Shopkicks $100
PerkTv $175
Ibotta $110.25
CheckOut 51 $15.40
Childrens Exchange Clothes $154
Pact $65.36

I am totally stunned that I was able to make over $1400 simply buy putting my insomnia (thanks to RLS) to work and learning to work a few apps while doing what I already do when I am shopping.

I already have a new trip in the works with my Cupcakes for January 2018. So there is no stopping me now. I know I can pay for this trip without breaking my budget and look forward to the new challenge. Anything that I have left over on my gift cards from this trip will automatically be rolled over!

I don't think I've posted on your report before, I know I've read a little bit in the past. And I did read your last trip report - though I think I read the last half around the time you posted the videos.

Love all your food and wine posts!

Pineapple wine (I'm really excited about this one!)
Peach Moscato
I will definitely be getting those two!

Your savings is amazing!!! I'm always trying to justify the Disney trips by not taking too much out of the family budget. I started swagbucks last fall and did great until spring. At that point I was having issues with things not working and cut back the time I was spending on it to once in a while.

ONLY 1 MORE FRIDAY!

I can't believe it that this time 2 weeks I will be finishing up the Mickey Christmas 5K! And then of course heading somewhere to find a yummy drink...okay maybe after I shower and change (it's 5 o'clock somewhere...even if it is 5 o'clock AM).

In order to pass the time away, instead of Cupcake Friday’s we are going to take a look at cocktails around the world…since we are partly fueled by cocktails.
