Sebastian's STRONG and SVELTE Under the Sea September W.I.S.H. Weight Loss Challenge - All Welcome!

Sorry I've been gone so long. I had some medical issues come up that I had to deal with. Things are getting back to normal now thankfully.

It looks like a lot of you made great progress this month, Fantastic job. Way to make your plan work for you!

I unfortunately didn't lose a single pound. I have a follow up with my doctor next week about the issues that arose last week, and I'm going to talk to her about my inability to lose weight then. I really do feel like I did a good job sticking with my plan, I know I exceeded my exercise goal of averaging 45 min/day. Maybe there's a medical component, or maybe I'm just adding lean mass and the weight loss is around the corner. Either way, I've enjoyed following along with all of you! I found it motivating and inspiring.

QOTD - September 29
Who can believe that it is already the end of September? This month has just FLOWN by! Tomorrow is about numbers and celebrations; today is about reflection. Putting aside the scale, how do you feel about your progress this month? What have you done that really works for you? What do you need to change?

Looking back at the month I have to say that I'm really proud of my progress. Every week was a weight loss, whether it was .5 pounds or 1.5 pounds. I had a crazy start to the month that I persevered through and now I'm really hitting the hard time as I have 18 pounds left to lose and it may not come off as quickly as when I started.

That said, I'm going to treat this as a process and not a race. I can indulge and enjoy life and food and not be afraid. That's what I learned this month.

Just dropping in to say goodnight! I've been reading along and there are some great tips on here over the past few days I'm sorry I haven't had time to do much chatting. Hoping to eke out a bit tomorrow!

@JacknSally - thank you for the eclipse photo! Looks like you had some nice clear skies.

You are welcome! We actually had horribly cloudy skies - I just got lucky and caught a break in the clouds with that one. Hopefully tonight I'll get around to digging through the rest of the photos I took and editing them. I completely forgot about the eclipse until it was already almost done being red, so I have a feeling my photos of that aren't too great.

Who can believe that it is already the end of September? This month has just FLOWN by! Tomorrow is about numbers and celebrations; today is about reflection. Putting aside the scale, how do you feel about your progress this month? What have you done that really works for you? What do you need to change?

I told a co-worker this morning that I'm getting married in 3 weeks, and it's the first time I've said it out loud like that, and it was a HUGE eye-opener. I cannot BELIEVE September is over. I'm disappointed in my progress this month. I knew going into it that it was my "last chance workout", so to speak, and that I really needed to give it 120%... and I didn't. I think the scale will show me down tomorrow, but nowhere near what I had hoped. I came so close to Onederland several times this month, but never actually got there, and I know that's my own fault. I let the excuses get the better of me, and justified 0 workouts and SEVERAL horrible meals all month long. October 24 is just a stop on my weight-loss journey, and I know I've seriously got to change my will power and my bad habits, or I will never get anywhere.

Sorry I've been AWOL this weekend! It's been a blur. Both last night and Sunday night I fell asleep on the couch around 7pm, completely derailing all my "must do"s, too. Sigh. Checking in on my lunch break currently - off to work on October a little bit!

Guess what, everyone???!!!

The October thread is ready for participants!!

From ZERO to HERO - The October 2015 Challenge

tumblr_n90o4jLPyA1rqbv0uo1_250.gif

Did anyone guess a HERCULES theme from my post referencing the October challenge?
Your hint was the note about "pain" and "panic" - Hades' two hilarious henchmen!

It's one of my favorite Disney movies, but I know it doesn't always get a lot of love. Don't worry, if you didn't pick up on the Pain & Panic reference, there are sure to be a lot more cheesy Hercules references popping up all over the October thread. :teeth:

Head on over HERE and check it out! Be sure to post that you'll be joining us for the month so I can add your name to the list, and give us a little intro about yourself. No need to share a novel if you don't want to, but if you feel so inclined, YAY! I can't wait to get to know you all a little bit better!

I hope everyone will be able to join us for another month of amazing life-changes!

Had DH help me with the math. I am ending the month (since I am calling this past weekend's weigh-in the end of the month for me) at 70% of my goal. Kind of disappointed I didn't get closer to my goal, but overall I am relatively pleased with my progress. I knew my goal of 6 pounds was a lofty goal (so lofty in fact, that I didn't even REMEMBER that was the goal until I looked back!!), but AIM HIGH, right?? Missed by goal by a touch less than 2 pounds. Oh well.

For October I am going to set a mid-month goal (right before I leave for Bermuda) and an end of the month goal (post vacation weight, etc). Thinking now about what those numbers will be.

TTYL............P

Great job!!! Still a pound a week, right?

Happy Monday!!!!!!!!!

QOTD - September 28

Non-exercise activity thermogenesis (NEAT) is one of the easiest and best ways to increase your calorie burn and thus support weight loss and maintenance.

Do you try to increase your NEAT? If so, how?

I try to do everything I can to keep my steps over 10,000 a day. Some of my favorites are roaming around my house while I brush my teeth; using the restroom on a different floor at work; and walking an extra few blocks instead of switching trains.

Just finally checking in after a whirlwind family reunion weekend with no internet service and no real walking areas (I was often times like a cages lion) I lost 2 pounds this week (90% OF MY GOAL) and am 1/2 a pound away from my pre-trip goal . Will do one more weight in on Wednesday before I board the plane!!!
::MinnieMo::MickeyMopooh::tink:

Great job!!!

My favorite trick is parking far far far away from the store I want to go to so I can get extra steps. We have an outdoor shopping mall near my work and I usually park on the far end near the Target and then I walk all the way towards the movie theatre where the stores are located. It gets me moving and a few extra hundred steps by the time I'm done.

Plus an opportunity for some extra window (or real) shopping!

This happens to me also ...I know its not right to feel this way as I can see my progress in so many other ways but I am so fearful that a "bad" number will discourage me and jeopardize my will power. For so many years of my life I was able to eat bad choices and just promise myself that the next day would be a new day and just enjoy the eating day today !!! It hard to change a thought process like that so I think basically im afraid a poor number will weaken me to say " I didn't lose weight this week so I might as well reward myself and my bruised self esteem with a devil dog...or two !!!" Craziness I say !!!

I do this too and I don't know why! It is so self sabatoging and counter productive. But there it is....

I definitely do this.... but I didn't realize it had a real NAME! I MUCH prefer activity that is productive..... hence I'd rather mow the lawn than go for a walk.... I'd rather clean out the garage than lift weights...... you get the idea. Anyhow.... I try to stand instead of sit (when possible) and when I do sit to do things like fold laundry, I try to sit on a yoga ball to help with my core. I do wall sits when supervising students who are testing, I do step-ups on the playground equipment when on recess duty (keeping my attention on the kids at all time, of course). In fact, I find that the kids are fascinated that I keep moving and sometimes they join me.... it is like a little parade of kids walking around doing lunges or step-ups! I think it is important for kids to see adults building in activity whenever/where ever they can! I do calf raises while cooking in the kitchen and yoga moves while standing and waiting for things. Other than sitting to eat, drive, or use the computer, I am rarely STILL. That being said, that physics theory of "a body in motion tends to stay in motion"proves very true for me.... if I sit for a while.... I want to KEEP sitting. But if I am moving I want to keep moving!

That is a lot of NEAT!! I love that the kids are following your lead! Hopefully it will help a few of them avoid having to add weight loss to the lost of things they have to do as adults!

Heading to WDW for a long weekend at Food and Wine , and of course Magic Kingdom !!! My first time going without kids !!!! VERY mixed emotions...hoping the melancholy feeling will pass once I'm there because the other half of me is ridiculously excited.

I hope you have a magical trip! and that you don't miss the kids too much!

@PTownGirls have a fabulous trip!!

QOTD:

Having a fitbit (I have been wearing it for over a year now) has certainly opened my eyes to how much more I could be moving! I had weekends when I had maybe 2000 steps a day! Some of the things I do to stay active: When brushing my teeth I am standing on one foot to improve my balance. My electric tooth brush has a timer which tells me when 30 seconds are over and so I change leg every 30 seconds. I also have started to force myself to be better about tidying my place. I live alone and sometimes things could deteriorate a bit around here. But making myself to get up and clean up before I go to bed really adds some daily activity. And it also is a good thing mentally as I just feel far more comfortable in a nice clean place! As long as weather permits, I either walk or bike to work, it is about 2 miles from home. Oh, and I try to always use the stairs!

It's amazing how fast the steps add up when you try for just a little extra activity. And even more amazing how few steps you get in a day when you don't try!

This looks like an awesome group! I may have to look into joining in October. I could ALWAYS use a little weight loss push.

Yay!! I hope you do join us in October! Great people here!!!

Hello everyone. I'm sorry I've been absent for the last few days. It has been a very busy late week and weekend here in Colorado. Late last week DW2B accidentally caught her engagement ring between her chair and desk at work knocking a couple of the pave stones out and requiring me to take a trip to the jeweler where I purchased it. Fortunately he did not charge me to replace the stones. While at the mall I was able to get some steps in circling the mall, plus I was able to finally find a vest and bow tie for myself (we already had the groomsmen's purchased).

Ouch! Glad the damage was minimal and easily fixed!

I forgot to post that I weighed in at 282.0 on Friday and Saturday. That puts me at 10.6 lbs lost for the month or 106%.

QOTD - September 29

Who can believe that it is already the end of September? This month has just FLOWN by! Tomorrow is about numbers and celebrations; today is about reflection. Putting aside the scale, how do you feel about your progress this month? What have you done that really works for you? What do you need to change?

My month didn't start out so great but has gotten steadily better as the month went on. Overall numbers aren't huge (and I'm going to miss my Onderland goal by a lot) but I feel much better about my mental state. Two full weeks down and the return to WW is definitely working for me. I was able to enjoy my far too many early birthday celebrations with the help of (all) of my weekly and activoty points and I felt great about being so in control. I'm also content with my decision to give up on exercise other than walking for now. It was too much change all at once and it just wasn't working. The primary thing I need to change is that I need to EAT MORE VEGETABLES. I'm good with the fruit but I just haven't been feeling the green stuff. I normally LOVE vegetables so it isn't a matter of getting used to them. I just don't want them. And I know so I need them.

I am exactly the same way!! If I weigh in only once a week, how do I know if this is just one of those freak days when I suddenly have 3 pounds more on the scale (which then disappear two days later). Therefore I weigh in daily. I have tried a different strategy as well: Not weighing at all for a length of time (like 4 to 6 weeks) and then do daily weigh ins for a week. That way, at least I know that I will see a lower number after a longer stretch of time and then weighing in several days in a row, I make sure to get an average of where I stand at the moment.

I found a really neat feature on my fitbit recently. I am manually tracking my weight there every day and it gives me a weekly average every week. So, while some numbers are higher, others are lower and I just noticed that during September I managed to have continuously one pound less as my weekly average. I really liked seeing that!

I am very happy with my progress this month! I find that going back to pure calorie counting after a long time with weight watchers definitely gave me a new push and determination. I notice that weight watchers definitely helped me change my eating habits as it forces you to eat far more veggies and fruit than most people do on their own accord. Or at least it forced me to do that as I like big portions, so they had to made up of mainly zero point foods. Now veggies have calories and sometimes it is tempting to cut out the broccoli to have calories for a piece of chocolate. But I notice that I crave eating veggies and don't mind using up calories for them. And with fruit is good for me to keep an eye on how many calories everything has!

I love how aware you are of your eating habits and what it takes to feel satisfied! It gives me hope for myself. :)

Progress this month has been good.... not outstanding, but definitely good. What worked for me was going back go basics (weighing/measuring EVERYTHING, no LBNT [licks, bites, nibbles, tastes], getting in my water, a BIT more exercise, etc). What I need to change is..... getting my healthy fats! I eat almost none! I went back to putting coconut oil in my coffee this week.... it is only 1 PPV (I only use 1 tsp) and while it isn't enough, it is more than I was getting. And I almost NEVER even HIT my daily PPV target (shame on me!) so this additional PPV in the morning hasn't had me suffering at all! Also need to bump up the exercise. The season of yard work is drawing to a close so I need to get back to intentional exercise (walking, weights, circuits, etc).

Love this perspective on how WW helps you even BEYOND being a member! Hope you don't mind if I share this insight tonight!

*******************

Hey all! Back at work today..... but they haven't called me for night maintenance work yet, so perhaps that "cash cow" has dried up?? Kind of sad (the $$ was much needed), but partially relieved.

I had a massive headache when I got home yesterday that Advil just wasn't touching. I have neck/jaw/shoulder issues that usually lead to this and I just couldn't get comfortable to rest. But lo and behold..... I realized that I had only had 8 PPV all day (out of my daily 26).... and so I ate dinner and felt like a new person!! I knew when I packed my lunch it probably wasn't enough protein (or even enough food), but I was rushing and figured "good enough".... but obviously it wasn't!

I had a big serving of nuts after dinner (while watching DWTS) even though it was past 7pm, in an effort to get somewhere near hitting my daily target. Hope that doesn't backfire!

Off to grab my next student to test! TTYL.................P

Hope your head is feeling better!

I hope all is well! Wishing you the best!!

You did such an amazing job at the beginning of this month! Your progress is outstanding and I look forward to following along on the rest of your journey!

Your September seems like it was a lot like my August. But there is NEVER a last chance. You've got this! You are going to look GORGEOUS in your wedding dress! And the rest of the journey will be ready for you after the Disneymoon.

Guess what, everyone???!!!

The October thread is ready for participants!!
From ZERO to HERO - The October 2015 Challenge

I'm so excited!!! Heading over to join now! I've never seen Hercules but will add that to my list of things to do. :)

Well, I didn't reach my modest goal of 5 pounds - but I did lose 4 and for that, I'm satisfied!

This month flew! I had a few challenges - an ongoing challenge is working the night shift. I had a lovely vacation then ended the month on a 4 day weekend family reunion/ Irish fest down the shore.

Thanks to all for this thread - it's been a great first month for me here, sharing the journey, learning from you, and appreciating the support you offer here.

Great job! Your long weekend sounds marvelous! And you've shed 4 pounds. Woohoo! I hope you join us in October. :)

HEY friends! Ready to end September on a POSITIVE NOTE?? I hope so! Take today to reflect on September and make some plans for an OUTSTANDING OCTOBER! I know that is what I will be doing with my break at school today (assuming I get one!). September was good.... but October will be BETTER!

Lots of excitement on the horizon for so many friends here..... TWO weddings, some fun vacations, some big exciting work projects....and of course, this month starts that quick slide into the HOLIDAY SEASON! We need to be ON OUR GAME this month so that we are prepared to end 2015 STRONG!

I'm off to work in the pouring rain.... and YUP, I've got about a 25 minute outside duty this morning. But trying not to grumble about it.... this isn't my regular duty.... some of my work friends have to do this in ALL weather.... freezing, raining, snowing, etc. I only have to do it once in a while. I've got big rainboots and a long (somewhat waterproof) coat.... so I'll survive. Then I am one-on-one with a 1st grader for the morning, lunch, and then proctoring tests this afternoon. The days are certainly going by quickly lately! Two weeks from RIGHT NOW I will be flying the friendly skies to BERMUDA!

I'll pop on later to chat!.................P

I'm such a fair weather girl.... Fair weather being 72 degrees and sunny. I spent all summer complaining about the heat, humidity, and how much we needed rain to help the poor dead grass. Now it is pouring and I'm a drippy, droopy mess. Who discovered a hole in her rain boots on the way to the train station. Sigh. Dry feet are overrated, right?

QOTW - September 30

Good morning!!!! Not only is it Woohoo Wednesday but it is the last day of the month! So, what is your woohoo for the day? And what is your woohoo for the month? And finally, how did you do in your progress towards your goals for the month?

If this wasn't your month, remember that it is just a few weeks in the chain. We've all made progress just by showing up! I'm so happy to have been lucky enough to be your hostess for this magical, fun, supportive month and I can't wait to continue the journey in October!

I flickered briefly into the 201s on Sunday but all of the celebrations have gotten the best of me. In spite of sticking to points, my final WI was at 203 this morning (I was down .2 at my WW meeting yesterday!). That puts me down 4.8 for the month, 61.5% of the way to goal! I'm super happy with that!!

Just plain overweight is just under 2 pounds to go and the mythical 199.9 is right behind that. I'm so excited that I get to make that happen under @JacknSally 's watch. The October thread (trouble linking at the moment) is awesome and if you haven't already, you should hurry over and join right now!

My woohoo for the day is that I managed to stick to my plan for birthday weekend extravaganza! Official dinner still to come tonight involves a beautiful piece of fish and so is easy on the WW budget. Given the theme for th month, I feel a little bad each time I eat fish as the strains of the castle chef singing Le Poisson, le Poisson feel my head....

My woohoo for the month is all of you! I've loved coming here today for support, camaraderie, and understanding. We have a wonderful little community here and I hope it stays for a long, long time.

One more woohoo for the day.... Just realized that the pants I'm wearing today need to head for the goodwill bag. They still fit around the waist but the thighs are so baggy that they feel like Hammer pants (now I feel old). I couldn't figure out why I'm not really losing inches but I've only redone waist measurements. Apparently all the pounds of crisco I've lost are in my thighs. :)

Can I go back and use my Sunday weight as my final weigh in? Haha. It wasn't drastically better than today, but it was better. And I can feel that today's weight was a fluke.. I can just feel all the extra BLAH I'm carrying around today. Very disappointed to know that a week ago I was just 0.7lbs away from my goal, on Sunday I was 2.7lbs away, and today I'm 4.1lbs away. :crazy2: THIS IS NOT HOW THIS SHOULD BE GOING! Lol. But I know that I've eaten like crap, haven't exercised, my sleep schedule is all over the place, I'm barely remembering to drink water, and I'm carrying a lot of stress now.

I guess I'll use today's weigh in. It puts me at 204.0 ending, with 205.5 starting, which comes out to an overall loss of 1.5lbs. That's 1.5lbs out of my 5.6lbs goal, or 26%.:sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2:

Today, I'm celebrating the fact that tomorrow is a new month, with new goals, new opportunities, and a new challenge. I'm DEFINITELY celebrating that the forecast for the next week doesn't get above a 79-degree high - Saturday the high is only 66!!! Happy fall, y'all. :goodvibes I'm celebrating that, no matter what, I'll be in Disney World in a few (excruciatingly) short weeks.

I am, however, still stressing because I tried on my wedding dress this weekend and am really kicking myself for not working any where in the neighborhood of as hard as I should've worked this year. Sigh. I know that, no matter what, I'll end up married and it's only one day and blahblahblah. I just don't want to pay a ton of money for photos and then never do anything with them because I hate the way I look. That's what happened to my engagement photos. We printed the two we could tolerate and the rest will forever stay on the CD, for no one else to see. LOL.

:cool1::cheer2: CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED THIS MONTH! Lose, gain, or draw, you were here, and that is more than most of us could say a few months ago. Can't wait to see the final update and see all the 100%'s I know we'll have!!!:cheer2::cool1:

HEY, Hammer pants are back in style now! Maybe you should hang on to them. :rotfl:

I am not showing any inches lost on the tape measure, either, and I haven't seen much change in my old clothes (some pants have gotten big in the waist, but overall not a lot of difference) - but the new jeans and shorts I bought for the Disney trip had to be taken in, and a couple of the dresses I wore to showers this summer are HUGE now. :confused3:confused3:confused3 I don't know if my older clothes have just been washed and worn so much that they aren't going to show much difference? Or if they were just that small to begin with and I didn't notice? LOL. I hope that's not the case!! It's definitely frustrating, though - I've lost 25lbs, but 0 inches, so WHERE did those pounds come from??? It's not like I've cut my hair! Haha.

My Woohoo of the month is that I am down to 30 days away from the wedding, and only 16 days until the bachelor party. My woohoo for the day is that I finished the month at 281.8 or 10.8 lbs lost. This translates to 108% of goal!!!!

I'm glad everyone joined us this month. It has been a fantastic time. A lot of great information and tips. I am looking very much to October and having another great month.

Today hasn't been terribly great, so I'll say that my woohoo for today is that my boss (who works up in Northern California) is getting back on a plane today and won't be back for a few months. :)

I may come in later and add another woohoo moment that actually is happy, but right now I just need a reset button for today.... or better yet, a fast forward button to Friday!

Love that quote! Yup, I made progress in September.... not as much as I wanted, but steady progress.

THANNKKKKK YOU for keeping us organized and moving for Sept!! It was such a successful month for SO MANY of us!!

Yuck. I was SO GRATEFUL for the rainboots and long coat today! I would have been absolutely SOAKED in anything less!!

SO GLAD that you are pleased with your progress!

My woohoo for the month is all of you! I've loved coming here today for support, camaraderie, and understanding. We have a wonderful little community here and I hope it stays for a long, long time.

We do have a great group here! Folks do tend to come and go, but overall the group usually stays POSITIVE! And I'm hoping and praying that some of my good WISH board friends who have strayed will return to the group come the new year!!

I'd love to lose some "crisco" in my thighs!! :D

*********************

Not as much time to be here today as I thought I would have..... day has been a bit cray-cray!! But looking forward to an evening a home with NO WORK, NO LAUNDRY and SURVIVOR on the tv!!

The new October thread looks AMAZING!!! Be sure to come reserve your spot!..............P
