I saw that one a couple months ago and enjoyed it. I was in the 2nd row, so I really enjoyed being able to take in all of the set details as well.

Is anyone else watching the Tony's?

My favourite awards show of the year even though I am too far to have seen any of the musicals. I seem to be the only person in my circle to watch them.

I am. I have a small party with Tony themed food. My daughter's friends come, and I'm just so pleased that they're interested!

I have given up award shows. I also haven't been following any of the newer shows.

It really is wonderful. We were lucky enough to see it off-Broadway and at the Music Box. Ben Platt is delivering one of the best performances I've seen (up there with Cynthia Erivo from last year). I hope your daughter loves it!

RE Brandon/Kinky. We saw it Sunday night, I guess his 3rd or 4th show. He had no problems with his hands. Maybe he was finally settling into his role.

This is what makes live theater amazing, each show can be slightly different depending on how the actors are feeling..... Also, he got applause, but the main lead got much more.

i, too, was at a Tony party last night. Overall it was a decent show. Loved Ben Platt! But could not get past the song they chose to showcase Hello Dolly... David Hyde Pierce just out there in front of that curtain. Underwhelming at best. Thinking the Divine Miss Midler wasn't agreeable to performing?

I was so annoyed by that. I was so excited to hear Bette, and then nothing :-(. I love David, but still...

RE: Dolly I read that the producers didn't want to restage any of the big numbers for the enormous Radio City stage, so they went wih David Hyde Pierce's before-the-curtain second act opener. Or at least that's the story they're sticking with...

Ha, I would have been thrilled to just have them all just singing with a hand mic, if it would have meant her singing.

Yeah, I was disappointed that Bette Midler didn't perform, but her acceptance speech more than made up for it.

A friend recently saw Dear Evan Hansen and Come From Away. She raved about the former but was so-so on the latter. She knows my tastes and said I probably wouldn't care for either. Based on the performances last night, she's probably right. Both were underwhelming IMO. In fact, none of the performances from ANY of the shows made me want to buy a ticket. (I already saw Hello, Dolly!, but if I hadn't, that DHP song wouldn't entice me to go. Saw Miss Saigon 20+ years ago. While I enjoyed it, I really wouldn't want to see it again.)

Why don't they do brief scenes from the plays? I might be interested in A Doll's House Part 2. I read the Ibsen version in college.

I am interested to in reading the script for "A Doll's House Part 2". A Doll's House is one of my favorite plays. I haven't looked up the performances from this years Tony awards. I have listened to some of the music from "Dear Evan Hansen" I was not impressed. Just another popular show I am not into. I did fall in love with the music from War Paint. I listened to the soundtrack last night. I need to buy it!

I was rooting for Come From Away last night. The show is absolutely incredible. Really a beautiful show. One of the few shows that really leaves you thinking and just a little bit changed after you see it. It's also by far the best directed ensemble show I have ever seen. Every move is deliberate and perfectly in sync with each other. I hope I can see it again sometime.

Overall I was meh about the show last night. Didn't love Kevin Spacey.

Yea, that's the story...according to the scuttlebutt from other Broadway boards, its more that Bette didn't want to perform.

I was disappointed Groundhog Day didn't win anything. It didn't showcase well, but it's a great show--funny and moving. I really loved it. I saw DEH both in Washington DC and on Broadway and it does deserve its awards--Rachel Bay Jones is amazing, as well as Platt. There were just too many good shows this year! :)

It's honestly so beautiful. Somewhere in the Middle of Nowhere is my favorite right now. I'm trying to figure out a way to see it again.

I'm always rooting for the show that's against the one teenagers/young adults like. My favorite show ever is Grey Gardens which in 2007 was up against Spring Awakening. Never had a chance.

I am the same way. I don't hate "Dear Evan Hansen", but I don't like the music at all. The beat of "Welcome to the Rock", drew me in. The soundtrack is incredible. My new dream is to play Hannah in another 10-20 years.
