Mine however is different as mine attached to the receiver hitch. I see yours attached to storage tube. Was just wondering what they told you.
I would have to look at rack again to remember make (I have had it for about 18 years...got it for us before we were married)... I think it is Xsport maybe? It is solid! Only 2 bikes (obviously). I got one of those 2 inch receivers that you mount to the bumper:
Jayco told me limit of 100 pounds. So, the two bikes, rack, receiver and the spare tire/tire mount pretty much finish me up there. Wouldn’t be able to do a 4 biker.. I did buy one (but only to use on back of our vehicles).
It’s interesting that you mentioned getting one specifically RV approved as the 4 bike carrier I got said quite plainly not for use on back of an RV... it was a “cheap” one, price wise, which is both why I looked at it, but why I was thinking there is no way it could be any good. Surprisingly, however, the reviews were quite good, and I am impressed with how solid it actually seems now that I have it. I read reviews on much more expensive racks and they were mixed with people talking about the bending issue a lot. It’s major use for us is a 4 hour drive to and from Cape Cod each summer, so we shall see... otherwise just short local trips to bike trails.
