Wendie - I'll leave the lobster cooking to you & Sheryl, I'll have cocktails while they scream and thrash around in the pot.

I miss my "snuggle bug" baby boy.:sad1: He'll be 17 on Monday, I'd give anything to hear "Mommy" again.

Lauren - I may be wrong but I don't think I peeled the potatoes.

WFD tonight - my fave fried green tomatoes and shrimp remoulade. DH just asked me if I'm getting tired of the same thing every Friday. Uh no, I don't have to cook and it's sooooooooo YUMMY!!!

liamandcaili - I'll be crying a lot with you this coming school year - DS will be a senior in high school........seems like yesterday when I boo hood on the first day of Kindergarten.:sad1:

Senior year is so hard for a parent. All I did was cry.

I will settle for anything for dinner!!! JUST NO LEFTOVERS!! Can you tell I'm hungry!:rotfl2:

Oh Oh! There goes tonight's plan!

What does it sound like? Zilla, if you're messing with me I will get you back!

She's back to Zilla, Lauren. That is not a good sign :scared1:

I REALLY need to learn how to do the multi quote thingy........lol

I think I finally got it. GO to the right hand corner of teh post and click on the "Multi quote" thing. It is in the middle and will turn red when you click on it. Then go down to "Post Reply" and click on that. You will see the reply screen pop up. Then hit your "back" button to go back to the posts. Find the post you want, go to the multi thing and click it, and then back down to "Post Reply". The box will pop up again. DO this until you have all of your posts, and then you can respond to them all at once.

I know what you mean about Caili! That's the way I feel about my DS. He is my "snuggle bug". When he was 3 years old, the twins and I came down with strep throat at the same time. The doctor put our entire family on antibiotics, and we quarantined ourselves for several days. I was the worst out of the family, and just stayed in bed. Jacob would climb into the bed with me, and stroke my forehead. He would try to tell me stories, and sing me songs so I'd feel better. It was so sweet! I hate to think of him growing up and not wanting to hug me! Today he told me that he wants to be my partner on all the rides at Disneyland! Fine by me!!! He still believes in all the magic, and I want to enjoy that as long as I can.

:cloud9: Don't you wish you could keep them at this age?

Last night DS and DD took us out to Friendly's to celebrate my oldest closing on his condo. I really don't know what to have for dinner tonight. I want tuna sandwiches but I am peevish with Buddy so I think we may have Quesadillas.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: You are killing me girl. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We had a very odd dinner tonight - garlic shrimp (yuck, it was fishy tasting), peas, and homemade sushi. The sushi was surprisingly easy to make and pretty tasty.

I'm craving sushi right now. Sandy what did you put in the sushi? Did you roll it with the seaweed on the outside or the rice?

OK, now I know they don't scream. Thanks, lucas, for putting in perspective for my itty bitty mind. I'm glad shovan wasn't around for this, she would have had a great time with me on this one. I thing I deserve a tag "dreads the lobster scream"!!:rotfl2:

:lmao: I missed this when I checked in last night! I wish I'd been around to raz you on that one! Kathy, Think of lobsters as just really big crawfish! You don't have any trouble cooking or eating those little suckers do you?!

Sheryl......you would make a fine "mainah" then!!! I have to agree with you, there is nothing better then an oyster straight from the water!!!

You would love the coast of Maine....you and dh get here and dh and I will be your personal tour guides!!!

wfd tonight-----now that is a great question..........no clue........I will come up with something......if it gets to be to late, and I have no clue then it will be pancakes and bacon...............ahh ahem.........in fact ummm you just can put me down for pancakes and bacon.......:rolleyes1

Wendie, One day soon, we might take you up on that offer!

TigerKat - try looking again. I've been able to find Sweet Baby Ray's at WalMart & at the local Associated Grocer (AG) Food Stores here in BR & Prairieville. The AG food stores in NOLA pull from the same warehouse here in BR, so if you ask, the manager should be able to order it for you. The problem might be it's popularity.

To stay on topic, WFD last night was my spin on tomato soup & grilled cheese. I doctor up Campbell's with cream / milk & add basil. Not quite LaMadeleine's tomato basil, but pretty close! WFD tonight...haven't decided. T-ball for DS at 6:15 if it doesn't rain, so it'll have to be quick & easy.

Thanks cajunmommy, I'll have to go look for it too! That's also a good tip on the soup, I'll have to try it.

Kathy, So now I get it, this "fear of the lobster scream" is just your way of getting us to do all the work while you sip the cocktails!:rotfl: And I can't believe you are going to eat fried green tomatoes again this week! I'm going to have to get over there & try some, it must be really awesome!

Kathy I had such a tough time during DD senior year & starting college. I think it's extra hard when you just have one "baby"! (insert sad pouty lip Momma face here)
Just try to keep in mind that you've done your job & the goal is to turn out a great young man who stands on his own! This is what we work for ALL those years!!

Oh and what's for dinner is I have no idea! Maybe go out to eat or pick up sushi. ( I can't find my little bamboo rolly mat now!)

::yes:: ::yes::

I'm craving sushi right now. Sandy what did you put in the sushi? Did you roll it with the seaweed on the outside or the rice?
Funny you ask... DS and I just made some for lunch and we took a picture to post here. We made avocado, crab (fake stuff), and cucumber rolls and combo rolls with all three. I haven't tried the rice on the outside yet. We made WAY too much and have a ton left over.

My pictures won't show up. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Well, gang, this is it! We leave early tomorrow morning, so I'll be gone for a week. Don't have too much fun without me, ok? I'll bring back reports from DL so you'll have that to look forward to.

I think I'm actually ready. DH is packing the car as we speak, so all we have to do in the morning, is load up the kids and head out. We're stopping in Vegas tomorrow night, so that should be an experience. The kids have never been there. It should be interesting!

See ya in a week!!! Have great dinners while I'm gone!!!

:woohoo: Have a great trip Glynis!

I think it's wonderful that you're so close! Our school asked for parent volunteers who were willing to come in, maybe yours does too? That may make it a bit easier.

Our school does that too. Each classroom also has room mothers, although I have not done that for Liam yet, so I am thinking I will volunteer in his room next year and just help out occasionally in Caili's.

a few weeks ago I stopped into his classroom to say hi ( i was lending a hand in another grade that day) and when he hugged me one boy must have given him a strange look cause, ds said to him "what... you don't love your mother??"

Very cute. Liam isn't ashamed to hug me either. Whenever I come into his classroom or come to his shows, he is always excited to see me and gives me a big hug.

Oh, yum!!! Did you make the blueberry filling from scratch? I've never made a blueberry pie, but yours makes me want to try!!!

He still believes in all the magic, and I want to enjoy that as long as I can.

Yes, I made the filling from scratch and it was super easy: Two bags frozen wild blueberries, 1/2 c flour, 3/4 c sugar, 1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional) and 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice. Drain and thaw the blueberries in a colander. Combine the dry ingredients. Add blueberries and lemon juice. Stir. Add to pie crust, and dot with 1 tbsp butter. Top with top crust and bake 25-30 minutes at 425 degrees until done.

That is such a sweet story about Jacob. Caili calls me her snugglebug. She is my cuddlebug.

Have a great time in DL!

Okay, so WFD? Good question...and you would think I would have an answer by now. However, I am recovering from having 20 children in my yard ranging in age from 2-5 who all ingested large quantities of ice cream and candy. :scared1: I am not in the mood for cooking. However, I am definitely in the mood for a glass of wine so I better make some food to go with it.

Sandy those sound great!:thumbsup2 I've torn through the cabinets, but I still can't find that darn bamboo mat! Where did you end finding it? I'd love to see your pics, hope you can get it working.

Glynis, :cool1: Have a great time, we'll miss hearing about your great food, but can't wait to hear about DL!!

Well, I had some extra time today prior to getting dinner on the table and getting A to baseball practice so I thought I'd try my hand at food porn...

Here are Glynis' Pizza Meatloaf Muffins, steamed broccoli and carrots and whole wheat pasta tossed with evoo, garlic, crushed red pepper and parsley. I added a few things to the muffins and used oat bran instead of bread crumbs...:thumbsup2 .

Notice something special in the pic???:) I think I have the knife facing the wrong way...mother would be upset! :rotfl:

Glynis, thanks for another great recipe!!! :) :) :)
