Up Close with Rhinos-New Experience at AK

Was trying to book this for over 60 days out today and there were no openings for the 3 days I’m there

Could this really be full or is it just not loaded?

If you called to book with a CM, then it’s full. The weeks before and after Spring Break are quite busy.

We will be there from March 10 to the 15th, and I have been trying for 3 weeks now to get into that tour. There is no availability at all those entire 6 days. I was calling every few days in case of a cancellation but I am giving up now and have booked Caring With Giants. Hope you have better luck

Rhinos has one tour a day, at 11am, with only about a dozen spots. It’s likely full every day. I think cancellations have to be done at least 2 days before, so I’d keep calling right up until the day before to check for space.

Caring for Giants was very cool if you are interested in elephants as well, in case you can't get the rhinos. As mentioned Rhino tour is only once a day, while Giants is 5-6 times a day I believe, so more spots available. We booked it only a few days in advance, and were able to change from morning to afternoon the day of when we arrived at the check-in. Would love to do Rhinos next time, but know it's a slim chance unless we are able to book at 180 days.

I called at the 180 day to reserve a Cabana at our resort and the rhino tour. The cast member said let's take care of the Rhino reservation first since it is super popular. I have 5 people so she quickly went in and reserved and said I was very lucky. I had no idea - here I thought trying to get Storybook Dinner was my hardest challenge for this trip. Every trip there seems to be some real work and luck to get what you want. I hope some spots open up for you.

After reading all these posts, I feel incredibly lucky to have reserved 2 spots for Up Close with Rhinos on May 23rd. We'll be there from May 20-24, and for those 5 days there were only 2 spots available. Feeling very happy that I was able to get into this tour. OP - good luck in getting spots for this tour :-)

It took me 3 trips to actually be able to book the Rhino Tour - it opened up right at 180 days. I go in August.

I did the Caring for Giants tour and it was wonderful. Only one other group was supposed to be on my tour and they never showed up so I basically had a VIP solo tour for that one.
I wish my pictures of the elephants turned out better. The sun was in a bad spot so they didn't turn out well. I think 2 out of the 100 I took were decent. At least I've got the memory.

I read your review and thanks for posting it. I have been trying to figure out whether to do a tour and which one.

I really sat up when I read "... if you ride Kilimanjaro Safaris the enclosures are behind the cheetah area. Both the rhinos and cheetahs are housed in the same area. A guest on my tour asked if the two types of animals get along and the animal care specialists told us they get along just fine and often don’t care that one another are there."

Out of much curosity, do the cheetahs happen to be close enough there to see them while visiting the Rhinos?

I'd book a cat tour in a heartbeat if Disney offered it!!

You can see the Cheetah area but you aren’t that close to them. It’s on the right side. I don’t think any Cheetahs were in their “barn” at the time of the tour either.

Just booked for 4 today for June 30th. I asked for July 5, but no luck, so took whatever is available.

We did this tour today and it was fantastic. Got to meet and touch Dugan. Learned so much and the cast members were amazing.
That's the male correct? He was fairly new in November so they weren't letting guests get too close to him yet.
