~WISH Away The Pounds~ AMAZING APRIL 2014 Challenge! *All Welcome!*

Just found out that for some reason they are extending the 4th grade recess by a full HOUR! I have duty, so time to grab the winter coat from the car! I thought I'd be fine for 20 minutes in my lighter jacket, but for over an hour I'm going to bundle up! I think I'll also pull on my sneakers (I always keep a pair in the car) and try to walk laps around the playground. It will be my only exercise for the day.

Still working on getting out of here early. It is still up in the air about one student. We shall see!

Next up I have a 45 minute reading block with one student, then lunch and then the crazy recess duty. If I DO get to leave early, it will (hopefully) be right after that. If that is the case, I probably will not pop on again until tomorrow, so remember that tomorrow is WEIGH-IN DAY! I'll be emptying my PM box to be sure I have plenty of space for everyone's results!!

I'll go out on a limb and restate my goal for this week, which was to lose last week's gain (about a half pound) and another full pound on top of that. But honestly, at this point I'd be happy with just getting rid of last week's gain!

I'm going to dash for now, as my student should be here within the next 5 minutes...............P

GREAT :woohoo: woohoo's this week!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

flyby, have to get moving and get out the door early today, but i'll be back this afternoon to answer the QOTD and catch-up

QOTD Thursday 4/17/14 -- Name 5 things you are grateful for

My 5 are very similar to Pamela's, except the lights started flashing...

1. My health
2. My wonderful family and their good health
3. Happiness
4. Family time
5. Electricity ( yeah, I know, but the upstairs water pipe struck a leak, the water was running like a stream out of the light switch and the lights started flashing. We have had to switch the main circuit off for the lights, and soon it will get dark, so I am going to need candles ...) so when you lose the electricity you are grateful for the immediacy of the switch, right? The plumber is on call and is unlikely to come today. I need so e pixie dust to fix it pixiedust:

the re stated goal and ...Still working on getting out of here early. It is still up in the air about one student. We shall see!...........P

Hi Pamela
I have my fingers crossed that you will get away on time. Also, I like the way you have your goal stated on here - I had too much junk at the weekend. Maybe I will be lucky to maintain this week. I have upped the exercise, but the impact is limited I think. All will become clear tomorrow at weigh in. Good luck:thumbsup2

I have one this week! On Saturday, I ran my first 5K. And I did it under 40 minutes, which was my goal.

:cool1::banana:

How is everyone in getting ready/finishing up Seder/Passover/Easter?

Easter here. We are heading up to my family in Jersey tomorrow after work. We haven't been up since Christmas, so I am really excited to see my nephew. He is 3.5 and a total riot!

*******

ANOTHER gain! And I RAN yesterday of the first time in weeks! I expected a big loss just for the fact that running should have been a bit of a shock to the body. Nope, up a whole pound! Grr. And I am heading home for the weekend, so I won't be exercising and my eating will be totally out of whack. So with the last few days of gains, I am now 5 lbs above where I wanted to be at this point. In the weight loss world, 5 lbs is a huge. :sad2:

5 things I'm grateful for:

-- my family and friends
-- vacations
-- sleeping better after 3 years insomnia
-- a body that's able to exercise
-- medicines that allow me to function and live to the fullest that I can

Happy Friday!!! it's gotten quiet here this week, I hope it's b/c everyone is just busy with Easter and nice weather :thumbsup2

QOTD - Friday 4/18 -- FUN FRIDAY! :yay:

http://www.buzzfeed.com/samstryker/what-disney-ride-are-you

I did it twice b/c I had a hard time choosing and I have no idea about the Kardashians :goodvibes I got Big Thunder Mountain then Mad Hatter Tea Party. I really wanted to get Carrousel of Progress or Tower of Terror LOL

I'm off to go workout!! my WI was down a little this week, whew...my weight has been fluctuating for nearly 6 months...the same 10 lbs. Three weeks until Vegas trip so I'm focused hard until then and maybe I can break through this plateau

here is mine!haaaa - tower is my least favorite ride in all of Disney I just ride it with my son so he doesn't have ride alone!!!

What Disney Ride Are You?
You got: Tower of Terror
Zany, cooky, original: No one can hold a candle to how cool you are. In fact, you might say your friends are downright terrified of how awesome you are. A thrill seeker to the core, you hate sitting around and doing nothing — unless you’re plunging nearly 20 stories to the ground!

Yup! You never know HOW MUCH we rely on flipping a switch or turning on the tap or flushing the toilet.... until we CAN'T!! We lose water when we lose electricity (well pump), as well as heat. It can get pretty miserable pretty quickly with no ability to flush the toilets! :lmao: Hope your power outage was short!

I did manage to get out at 2:15 and had an easy afternoon! Lunch at 12:15 and then an unexpectedly extended recess duty from 12:40 until 2pm!! Can't complain about that day! Thanks for asking.

My Woo Hoo was that after a few Dr appts I got to spend 4 hrs with my bestie and catch up!! it was great.. and it was her Bday too boot!!

How WONDERFUL! Hope you had some nice girl time together!

Love them all, but for some reason #4 stood out to me. We live in a society where so many folks are just so UNSATISFIED with what they have.... they always want "bigger and better".... especially with homes and cars. It is nice to see someone SATISFIED with what they have! I feel that way about my home.... especially now that the kids are older. For a while I wished for a larger home, but I am starting to realize that this is MORE than big enough! Just wish I could claim it was paid for in full! Lucky girl!

And of COURSE #5 is DELIGHTFUL!!

Easter here. We are heading up to my family in Jersey tomorrow after work. We haven't been up since Christmas, so I am really excited to see my nephew. He is 3.5 and a total riot!

Have a WONDERFUL family visit!!

I'm SO sorry that you are so frustrated. I can totally understand and have sympathy and empathy. I have certainly had MANY weeks with those same feelings.... you feel like you are at the end of your rope.... you wonder...How much less can you eat? How much more can you exercise? What can you change? And sometimes you don't need to change ANYTHING.... except your expectations and your patience.

How about having a plan in place for next week, after the holiday weekend? Maybe plan your meals for Mon-Thursday?? Also, keep in mind that you might be retaining some lactic acid from last night's run.... you might be dehydrated or overtired? There are SO MANY THINGS that can effect your weigh-in.... and they aren't just "excuses"!!

I disagree.... 5 pounds is NOT huge. It is a PITA and I understand wanting it GONE.... but 90 pounds is HUGE.... not 5.

Whatever you do.... DO NOT GIVE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to talk to you again on Monday. Enjoy your weekend.

Fingers crossed that you absolutely KICK that plateau to the curb!! I'll take the quiz in a minute!!

*****************************

Hey friends! Bit of a lie-in this morning.... got to sleep until 6:30!!:lmao: Got the trash loaded in the car to take to the dump after dropping of DS at school, so that is done and I'm on my 4th load of laundry (mostly DD's stuff she brought home last night).

My Friday morning steel cut oats were DELICIOUS, as usual!! I had a green smoothie for breakfast Mon-Thurs, so this was a welcome change.... warm and creamy and sweet!

I'm mildly excited to report that I DID lose last week's gain plus some and have hit my lowest number this calendar year (after my Christmas gain and my crazy unexplainable January gain). FINALLY feeling like I am on the right track again. Hmmmm... do you think it has anything to do with the fact that I am FINALLY on a regular exercise plan again??? :rolleyes1

Okay.... so this day is TICKING away! Time for lunch. I thought DD and I might head out for lunch, but she is still bogged down with Chemistry homework, so maybe we'll head out later. I still need a few groceries and some Easter goodies for DS! TTYL.......................P

WOW, that quiz was SO random!!:lmao: I've never done one of those. I HATE the answer I got (Mad Tea Party) because I can't even ride it without wanting to toss my cookies!! So I'm going to try again. I honestly couldn't even FATHOM where they were going with some of those crazy questions!

I'm jealous, DD got Space Mountain.

Off to try again..................

**************

WHAT!!!!????? I got Mad Tea Party AGAIN!! That's just CRAZY!!:rotfl2: Okay... I guess I've got to accept it. Here's is what is says about me.....

Spin around and take a bow, because being awesome is your cup of tea! Your friends get dizzy just trying to keep up with you. You may not be the fastest or most exciting ride, but you’re a classic with serious style.

Okay..... I guess I can be alright with being a "classic with serious style"!!

TTYL..............................P

Just tried the quiz and got Its A Small World. Cute quiz. I was stuck on the Kardashkans too.

Happy Friday evening all! After a busy day of cleaning, laundry, and driving, I'm off to see the new Disney "Bears" movie with the family. I know the men are only going along to keep the girls happy and to do something as a family, but I'm okay with that. My homemade fat-free popcorn is popped and my seltzer is ready (for DD and I)! DH has an OP treat for himself and DS has a bit of his own cash for a small popcorn and a soda.

I have three messages in my PM box, presumably weigh-ins.... keep them coming!!

TTY tomorrow!...................P

Tower of Terror!!! Which is a ride I absolutely LOVE! :lovestruc

I really don't want to step on the scale tomorrow morning. I had a birthday and there were 2 days of not the best eating. Plus Tuesday night I didn't sleep well but still got up early Wednesday to swim. Opened the door to the pool at the Y and there were 5 people there. :scared1: Way too crowded for me. I turned around and went home. Made for a nice, relaxed morning before work. Went again this morning and had a lovely swim with only 2 other people in the pool--and 1 left after a couple minutes.

DS made the Bach Festival choir! He's pretty excited.

 to everybody

It's late here and I need to plan some shopping/meals so I can run to the market early in the morning (hopefully I'll beat the crowds!). My brain has decided to go to bed so this might be hard!

Great news about you WI. I like the quiz. Surprised about space Mountain result, I used to like it a lot but not since I suffered with my back - I don't want to chance it. Hubby got Tower of Terror, which he loves:love:

the last 2 yeah....

I am so glad this board is here. This is a great group of people. Hey Happy Easter early.
Found out a few days ago my daughter is having a girl and there are no problems YAY. I feel sorry for the poor thing and the amount of pink things that will surround her from Gramma me lol. Went to see Bob Newhart last night at an Indian casino--he was wonderful and had a jazz band open. Had to juggle schedule around but worth it. Just ordered some C02 pet urine cleaner I saw on My Cat from Hell, and a bunch of feliway refills. I have my blacklight flashlight now that works great and all's I have to do is start cleaning. I scrubbed a bit in my bedroom last week but I had already really cleaned it so it was easy. The blacklight picked up some spray on the curtains (hoodlums) and there were a few places I'd missed cleaning blind. I guess vinegar and water is good for urine, which I've been using for years but I'm pulling out the big guns. The feliway helps to prevent spraying so after I'm all clean I'll plug 'em all in lol. I need to organize a baby shower too. I am completely clueless. She doesn't have any friends in her turn over a new leaf life so I'm going to gather friends of my Mom's and my husband's ladies from his side of the family--they're awesome. All my family is in Illinois. She's already been very lucky that friends of my parents are giving her a bunch of stuff including a lot of girl baby clothes. They are moving in to some apts. that are close and the boy got a second job (poor thing). It won't be low income housing exactly but there is some sort of thing they are working out that will help a lot. The boy also got bees back (his grandma accidentally killed off most of his hives) because he was called to remove some from a house and has farmers willing to house them for him as they help their crops. I must say I was all ready to do without him altogether but he really is putting in the effort. My eating has been bat ____ crazy-- extremely indulgent, due to my birthday, and trying to get my daughter to eat more lol, but after Easter I think I'll settle down. I took her to be fitted at a bra shop and they told her to eat because they could see her ribs lol. She is one that's hard to put weight on especially with the kind of nausea she's had. Those certainly aren't my genes....

First of all, HUGE congrats to "Grandma" on the baby girl news!! And so happy to hear that all is well and healthy! Hope the nausea passes soon.

Glad that DD and her SO are settling down and things seem to be going along well for them. It will be nice to have things in order before the baby comes.

Enjoy your post-birthday/Easter indulgences and then you will be ready to get back to your normal healthy eating next week!

HAPPY BLESSED Easter Sunday everyone!! It is beautifully sunny here, but brutally cold considering it is the end of April! Earlier this year when I saw that Easter was so late, I was pretty excited that we would finally have a WARM Easter, but I guess I counted my chickens before they hatched! It is winter-coat-cold here this morning. I had intended to get in a quick walk before the family awoke, but 30 degrees on the thermometer changed my mind pretty quick.

Today and tomorrow will be pretty busy, so don't be shocked if you don't hear from me before Tuesday. Today we will be at SIL's, then dropping DD at school and a quick overnight stay with MIL, and tomorrow we will be at the start of the Boston Marathon and then at BIL's for part of the day. I don't anticipate getting home too late, as DH flies out for business early Tuesday morning. Then I have my WW meeting on Tuesday and then the rest of the week is MINE to do with as I please!!! HOORAY for April vacation!

I am bringing a HUGE salad to DSIL's today as well as carrots and hummus and a store-bought pie (I don't bake ;) ). I plan to stick to salad and protein (probably ham, possibly chicken).... no dessert, no cocktails. If I don't start eating dessert it is just easier to stay in control..... one bite sometimes leads to a disaster. Plus I have some unknown eating situations coming into play on Monday, so I need to be prepared, just in case.

I'm off to make french toast for a special Easter breakfast for the kiddos. Not sure if this is a splurge day for DH yet. If not, I will be making eggs for him. I haven't decided yet if I will have an egg white omelet or a green smoothie. I have decided that this will NOT be a splurge day for me. I had a small splurge at the movies Friday night with a handful of peanut M&Ms to go with my homemade popcorn and then yesterday I had a small cocktail in the afternoon with my Mom plus some of the indulgent onion casserole she brought along, so my splurges for this week are done..... I hope.

Off to get my family up and moving. We will do a small Easter "service" here at home over breakfast before heading out to drive to MA for the family dinner. It would have made things a little crazy here to make it out the door for church. DD has to have EVERYTHING packed up and into the car because she is going straight back to school after Easter dinner today. Plus, while I love our church, the holidays there are CRAZY crowded and it really takes the enjoyment out of it for me. Christmas Eve service we ended up sitting in the overflow room (with a flatscreen), despite getting there 30+ minutes early. It not at all enjoyable.... we would have been better off watching the live feed from home.

Anyhow..... EASTER BLESSINGS and EASTER JOY to all of my friends here!.............P

Here's hoping I can get some of you will power. Have a good few days. We are off to see my Mum tomorrow so I will probably get on here later tomorrow. I need to eat less junk tomorrow. It has been a much colder day and raining and I find it harder to resist junk. :crazy2:
Catch ya soon :wave2:

Fly by post! Which it looks like we need because our thread was near the bottom of the screen!

So most junk food is gone and I am back on plan! Got my swim in yesterday and class and walk in this morning. Now I am off to work. Have a great day!

Found out a few days ago my daughter is having a girl and there are no problems YAY. I feel sorry for the poor thing and the amount of pink things that will surround her from Gramma me lol. ....

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I'm with you on getting back on track now that the holiday has passed....

It has been a much colder day and raining and I find it harder to resist junk. :crazy2:

see above :rolleyes1 we are kicking the junk to the curb today!!

was away all weekend at my parents, had a really great weekend. brought home some candy and leftovers, but I'm tucking it away in the cupboard and freezing some. My friends/fam journaling/fitbit challenge ended last weekend, my Mom won (woohoo!) but I got third so I had to pay-up and didn't win anything. boo! I was in the lead until I let one weekend pull me into overeating and not journaling and just like that, third place. lesson for me was the every bleeping ding-dang DAY counts!! we are in round two now, this round lasts until we go to Vegas... my friend who got second place lost 10 lbs! it really helped her get motivated and keep on it, so I really do feel great about supporting her!

I'm not sure how this week's WI will go...ugh and sigh

Hi everyone.. just stopping in for a quick hello and to let you know I read everything up to here so thank you to all of you for the kind words about my Gram's passing and about my "grateful" list.. 50sjayne - congrats a new "minnie mouse" oh boy will you have fun!

I want to let you know I am all in for May.. I went to the Dr last Wed and well my numbers were not as bad as I thought but I still got the talk (A1C = 7.6) so Monday started back on Induction for Atkins and have lost 5 as of this am (I am sure it's water but I am not so bloated looking or feeling! which is awesome) before I started I did manage to eat most of my favorite foods as to not be tempted .. I hope to stay on induction for a month then add back in yogurt and nuts at that time..

I have a goal actully it's a few along the way to the 60 I need to lose
