X-Rated Wedding Reception

I don't see anything x rated here, just that the couple wants the original tracks of songs they pick to be played instead of the dubbed radio versions, not really a big deal. It's their wedding so I assumed they know their audience.

I think that post made total sense. She was specific to her guests that children arent invited, so she is not accommodating them. I'm sure music choice is just one way.I think she is wise to consider that.

Some songs I prefer the radio version. I’m not a fan of the n word in songs at all.

The amount of pearl clutching on this thread is very telling lol

Ha! I don't listen to rap or R&B, mostly hard rock, alternative, metal type stuff. I've never come across a song that used that particular word so that never crossed my mind. I would agree with that edit. Everything else, bring it on the way the artist intended.

I almost always prefer the original (aka explicit) version of the song but at my own personal wedding I'd probably opt for radio edits.

That said it wouldn't bother me in the least if I heard explicit versions of songs at a wedding.

As a notation of songs in general..people must not be listening closely enough. Radio edits can contain what we would probably consider curse words--I hear the B word often enough and most def. suggestive lyrics.

goodness, lol,

I just see it as a couple who want THEIR wedding day to be an adult only event. Its very likely the couple became exasperated during the planning stages trying to accommodate guests wishes and had enough and decided well its OUR day, so we will play the music WE like, and oopsie its not family friendly and your kids should not be here, as they were not invited.

X rated does not = porn, and those who immediately came to that conclusion, well you must have very little knowledge of music genres.

There a a HUGE amount of popular songs which dont have any swear words but are not innocent and defiantly NOT family friendly.

People should look at the lyrics for the following songs
  1. Prince - Little Red Corvette
  2. Britney Spears - If You Seek Amy
  3. The Spice Girls - 2 Become 1
  4. Lilly Allen - Not Fair
  5. 50 Cent - Candy Shop

Never mind all the songs that are referencing drugs, but not explicitly.
Can’t feel my face by The Weeknd comes to mind.

Wow, these songs are downright tame by my standards. We’d have to be getting into 2 Live Crew territory or something before I’d start worrying about grandma’s delicate sensibilities.

One of our favorite restaurants plays lod, explicit music regularly. No warning given to first timers.

So how exactly are you finding articles such as this? ;)

Red Angie did not choose the article finding life. It chose her.

A Buzzfeed article about non-traditional weddings included this gem:

"We told our DJ that we insisted on explicit tracks being played at our reception — we'd already put a disclaimer on our invitation that said, 'We love your kids, but we didn't invite them."

Not inviting kids is fine. Insisting on songs with explicit lyrics, hmmmm. No thanks.

Did they show porn films and have strippers too?

I can see not editing out some explicit lyrics if they actually come up. But deliberately insisting upon them.
Then again nothing says loving like... La la la la la it's the (redacted) D O double G. Snooop Dooooooooooooog!!!!

I'd politely decline that wedding invite.

See, and that song would have all the middle-aged moms out on the dance floor so fast...
