Oh, I know I'm blessed, I really do, but it's hard to leave the warmth of family and friends and take up the daily struggle again. My hero is Dory: 'Just keep swimming, just keep swimming ...'
And thanks for the good wishes!!
A funny thing about our departure: we had been planning on leaving my DF's in Bradenton about 4pm and driving to Orlando to catch our flight scheduled for 8:25 pm. The kids and my DF had been at the pool and came back about 2pm saying that a lady there had told them that there was a dreadful accident on I4. We checked it out, and great heavens, there had been a horrible pileup with fatalities due to low visibility because of a brush fire and I4 wasn't expected to reopen until the next day.
We packed in record time while my sweet DF made us sandwiches for the car and leapt into the car at 2:30 pm with the plan to take a longer route via back roads. We made it in plenty of time and ended up having a relaxed and comfortable trip back.
The funny part: we've been there for 5 family vacations and 1 trip for just my DH and me over the last years. Of those 6 trips, we have had four departures disrupted for weird reasons: two hurricanes, one flight that was delayed for 16 hours, and now the highway closing. It's obvious what's going on here, right?
We're meant to stay!! Someone up there is sending us a clear message, and we're too dense to get it: 'Hey, where are you going? Stick around!' I swear, if this happens one more time, I'm putting down the suitcase and picking up the Help Wanted section!!
