Little boys in the women's restroom

I meant the video, not this topic!
I do have to add, I do not let my boys or my girls go to a restroom alone. And my oldest is 17! Why? Let me explain my paranoria...
DD was attacked in a restroom at church of all places. We thought it was a safe place to go to the bathroom alone...WRONG!!! There was a boy hiding in the restroom waiting for a victim, she was it. He had a knife, she was not cut in anyway! Thank God she was older and knew to scream and fight!
Now call me overprotective or whatever but as long as my children are in my home I will do everything(even taking the boys to the women's restroom) in my power to protect them!

***DD is ok but still have issues with knives. And being alone sometimes.

So that is why my sons will continue to go with me to the women's restroom unless their dad is with us. I would never push my views on others, I would just caution them that anything can happen, anywhere(even church and DW).
I guess they will get to an age where the won't anymore, but they are still young now.

I'm sorry for your child's attack. I hope she is in counseling. Does she plan to go to college next year? She might need to start dealing with this, if so.

You take the nine year old in the woman's room. This is too old. I am sorry about your daughter but you really have to let your son pee on his own. I just can't imagine my eight year old going into the woman's room. I keep my kids very safe and I haven't felt th need to take him into the bathroom with me in at least a year (if not more).

Dont' you know? Every man is a pervert. Maybe even her husband since she doesn't even trust him to take his son in the bathroom. This I don't get.

I feel so bad for guys. The fact that my sons will be looked on as perverts by paranoid mom's irritates me.

How about me? I have three sons. One is 20 and acts like a kid sometimes. I am sure all those paranoid mothers are thinking that he is a sicko when he hangs out with his ten and eight year old brothers.

It is a sad, sad world.

I just read this entire thread and I really cant believe some of the things I read....The question was about a 7 year old boy! Why cant people just stay on topic and answer the question without being rude to one another. She wasnt asking about a 12 or 13 year old boy being in the ladies room, she was simply asking if a SEVEN year old boy could go in the ladies room with her, and the answer is yes. I hardly think allowing a seven year old in the ladies room instead of letting them go alone into a mens room is being overprotective or paranoid..whatever their reasoning is. I also think if letting them go alone into a mens room when they are six or seven works for you then so be it..let them go..different things work for different people, but I would never question someone elses decision on this matter.

I totally agree with you.

YOU haven't felt the need, but SHE has. Her family, her choice.

It is estimated that only 34% of sexual molestation towards children is reported. It's so sad. I wonder how many of the so called 'helicopter' moms out there have a reason to be paranoid?

Those numbers are assuming assaults by know assailants. Not crazies in the WDW restrooms. There also is a great potential of them being off, as most social statistics are used for grant money. More problem = more money.

What amazes me is how these mothers became mothers. They dated and married guys who use public restrooms!

really..are you serious...I dont think anyone is saying all men are molesters..you guys have taken this way off topic! unbelievable. From what i have read, they are saying there is a SLIM chance that something like that could happen and they are not willing to take that chance..that is their decision and they should be left to it! And dont forget we are talking about 7-9 year olds..I havent read anywhere on here where preteens and teens are still going to the bathroom with there mothers! Believe it or not...They will eventually use the bathroom by themselves.

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Well said. Some people seem to think little of other people's opinions.

I don't think many people have problems with 7 year olds. There are some paranoid moms who feel the need to bring their 9+ year olds into the ladies room - please, let the young men use the mens room.

But who are you to decide that? There is sometimes a great disparity in maturity during these ages and I will always leave that decision up to the individual mother. I dont think that makes them paranoid. If your 9 year old is fine using the bathroom alone..thats fine, but I am sure there are some out there who feel they are not quite ready yet..I guess my point is, I don't get why that decision affects anyone else?? I have been to Disney alot and I have never seen a preteen(11+) in the ladies room...They do grow up eventually and use the bathroom by themselves.

Yes...and then they have their mommies call their professors and employers to explain why pumpkin couldn't finish that research project, or sweetpea can't come in to work today because he doesn't feel well...:sad2:

Oh my gosh..i guess there is very little room for understanding here...It is one way or no way. I really believe if you put 2 twenty five year old men together and one of them went into the bathroom with his mother until he was 9 and one used the bathroom alone since they were five, i bet you couldnt pick which was which...I just dont understand the controversy..I am done here

Ready to use the bathroom alone? You go in, do your business, wash up, and leave. Unless the child has some development delays, he is ready to use the bathroom at the age of 9! Unless, of course, his normal emotional development has been severely stunted by an overprotective mom, who won't let him out of her sight for a minute.
