An Invasion of a "STRANGER" Kind.... NEW THREAD IS UP!! Go Thee NOW!

This is the type of organization system I used to dream about. Nice to know it can become a reality for some people. :thumbsup2

Sorry I was missing in action earlier today...super busy at the office (and now sweating through the hockey game). I love the financial section of your journal -- very clever. I always stuff my receipts in an envelope. Wouldn't it be great if we could write them off on our taxes. :rotfl2:

Of course! He's the only guy I know who looks good in spats.

Boy howdy, does that bring back memories of marching band!

I've only seen him in Mickey's Christmas Carol... which we seem to watch year-round in my house!

Congrats on being mostly paid off!

Kathy

One of Billy's favorites??

Being paid off is a GREAT FEELING!! And staying on top of trip expenses seems to be a never-ending and sometimes morphing chore.

You really are organized! Just look at that budget! Even the Mug has been accounted for.

I'm a stickler when it comes to keeping receipts. It helps me budget for my next trip... or how to cut down on my next trip :rolleyes1

I LOVE Mugs!!! It will likely be my first on-property expense. ::yes::

YOu mean you work exacly opposite of the Federal Govt. and TRY to go down in budget??? :lmao:

DuckTales was my favorite show growing up. I bought the DVD set a few years back and watch it all the time. Out of the Not-so-famous Disney Characters Scrooge McDuck is my absolute favorite!!!!!!!!! I used to want to be like him and swim in a pile of coins! I always thought it was cool that he could actually SAVE money :rotfl2::rotfl2: I still haven't mastered that part yet!

I love the fact that you thought enough to make a financial section. That is something I would never think of!

Maybe I was just a few years too old to be really acquainted with the Duck?? So is he somehow related to Donald?? Is it like his uncle or something?? HA!!! yeah, saving is hard. But hey, little by little I"ve saved almost $2,000 for this trip. Christmas and birthday gifts, a little here a little there....

I really want to document this trip well, and finances are a major part of that. Don't you want to know how much tax I paid on my Dole Whip? :rotfl2:

Oh yes! Reciepts come in very handy when you are trying to remember the order of what you did for your TR....there are all date and time stamped.

That's what folks are telling me... as long as you figure it all out before the ink fades.

I know that either DH or I had the creme brulee on our last trip, and it was fabulous. I looked at the menu, and think that the other dessert we (DH) got was the lemon curd, which he liked but I didn't as much. And I agree that those dessert martinis look amazing! They have similar drinks at a fondue restaurant chain here called The Melting Pot - yum! Can't wait til I can have one again.

I'm not normally a big dessert eater, but a lite sorbet or brulee is often perfect for me. :cloud9:

I think there's a Melting Pot in Portland; DH and I should try that out sometime! Now, I need to put that drink on my list!

So nerve-racking! When we made our trip to Mexico last month, we had been up since 5 AM on Saturday (to make a character breakfast ADR at DL - so worth it!), and I did not get to sleep until 2 PM on Sunday (28 hours with a time change). To say I was exhausted was an understatement! :faint: The worst part was we had to attend a mass ceremony at noon on Sunday, and that was so hard to sit (and stand and kneel) through when that tired! I hope you are able to get some sleep sooner - graduation ceremonies can get rather long (and sometimes boring).

I so totally know that feeling! We never sleep on the planes anymore to or from- something about a 40+ year old body not being able to bend anymore. After our trips we all sleep for about 24 hours straight!

Yikes, that is a lot of money! Glad you were able to find a more reasonable solution.

We're waiting for an e-mail back from our inquiry. Sounds encouraging, but not for sure yet!

Crap, I was looking at the Jiko dinner menu and didn't see MY filet there anymore! :scared1: But then I scrolled down to the Child's Menu and there it is - a $41 filet on the children's menu next to the $7 mac n cheese and the $6 PB&J :confused3 That is one expensive kid's meal!

I saw it when I looked yesterday. I didn't notice it in the kids's section, but wasnt' specifically looking for the filet either. I actually know some parents who are idiotic enough to think it was a kids meal and order it.

I loved that you used Scrooge for the financial section! I only know him from the Mickey's Christmas movie that we used to watch when I was younger. It was 'A Christmas Carol' or something like that.

P.S. I just updated on the TR!

Guess, I need to rent that one when we get back! I found a copy of The 3 Caballeros here and we've been watching that. It's actually a pretty boring movie. :confused3

Ok, I'll get over there today! Yippee!!

This is the type of organization system I used to dream about. Nice to know it can become a reality for some people. :thumbsup2

It all looks good on paper. (I learned that from congress.)

yeah, but then how would we pay off the national debt? ;):lmao:

hey! sorry i've been MiA! But anyway, just read your last post! I'm loving your financial section of your journal! So cute! you're so organized! Alrighty, gotta go back and catch up!

Hey There! It has been a while! Glad you have some time to catch up on things- there's always a lot going on here. In fact, I have another update going up later today. :goodvibes

Another Round of Self-Promotion-

To commemorate another milestone in their arduous training, The Belle Battalion cordially invites you to a self-promotion ceremony, at which they will receive the formidible ranking of Brigadier General!!

At exactly 0900, 3 months to the hour of the their imminent invasion of Disney World, they will be awarded these titles. Bands will play :rockband:; flags will be paraded party:; and the appropriate speeches will be given :mic:.

Because this reception is virtual, please bring your own cake and punch.

Woman Runs Slower Than She Walks-

In other news around the Base, it was reported yesterday, that Soldier #1 accomplished the amazing feat of the "all-dreaded" C25K W5D3, a never-before attempted, 20-minute slog around the track!! But that is not what is making the headlines... it took the record for the slowest 20 minute jog ever recorded in man's history of running. Athletes worldwide are mystified at how a human being can add 20% more "running" without gaining even 1 meter of distance. :confused3 Perhaps walking really is the faster mode of transport afterall?

100 Days from Now-

Also making headlines today: The Belle Battalion gives you yet another "100 Days from Now" peek into the future. Come and enjoy the anticipation as they recap the day's play in full technicolor.

Sept. 11, 100 days from now, Brigadier Generals Liesa, Mary and LeeAnn will be having a victorious invasion of DHS.

Rope Drop ceremonies may or may not be attended due to the rigors of the prior night's activities (EPCOT with Teppan Edo and Biergarten, including PM EHM), but many other attractions will test their fortitude.

MRE rations wil be dispensed by Starring Rolls. To end their victory campaign, they will complete the AK Triathalon of Gorging at Bomas: The Eating Place. That's JIKO: The Cooking Place's evil twin.

(Feel free to steer me to a good photo of Boma's. I feel badly for horking too many of Glenn's already. Looked in the current Dining Reviews- nada. Ah well.. imagine Africanny looking decor with Zebra Domes floating all around you- Alice in Wonderland style. )

Depending on their strength, stamina and overall mood, they may head on over to Jellyrolls, where live entertainment plays nightly.

And that wraps up today's headlines here in The Officer's Club Chronicles. Have a nice day.

Sounds like another wonderful day!!

But for pics inside restaurants, I would recommend this thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1116965

Don't worry about your running being slow! I am sure because you are running longer now you are running slower than you did before. So your average speed hasn't improved, even though you are still running faster than you are walking. Running slow is a good thing, because that means that you actually manage to run for the full 20 minutes. Your speed will improve the longer you train! Congratulations on being halfway through the programm! Are you going to be able to keep up your trainig while you are in Chaostan?

Sounds like another wonderful day!!

This day will be a very slow, take-it-easy, sort of day. The crowd calendar says a bit heavier, so we'll use this day for the lesser-visited attractions and shows.

THANKS!! I knew I could count on you!! :worship: I had found some on the photos board, but didn't want to have to save it on photobucket to use it. :rolleyes1

I've seen that thread before, but haven't visited it in a LONG time!!

I wish the first 8 minutes were easier! It is sooooooooo hard to press through them and not be tempted to give up!! I was on the track yesterday,a nd there was a bunch of fat old guys running WAY faster than me, and I was utterly embarrassed!!! :headache:

I think I can keep running, but may have to drop back to easier runs- the elevation is QUITE A BIT higher than here. I"m glad I didn't delete my earlier runs podcasts!

You are welcome! Yes, I guess as an unofficial member of the Jambo Wilbunch I am the resident AKL (only non-DVC though) expert here! :goodvibes

Running in thin air might be difficult, so going a bit back might be a good idea. But you know that this is supposed to have a great training effect? Al lot of athletes go on high altitude training camps before the Olympics! :goodvibes

Don't stress about others running faster than you! Speed isn't the thing you are looking for, you want to build up your stamina. Running too fast will even be counterproductive for that goal!!

Are you running on a real track or somewhere in the countryside?

DHS plans sound good. We've not tried Starring Rolls yet. It looks yummy!

We will be at DAK on the 11th then DTD at night.

Seems as though every resort has a name for its regulars. I like it!! The folks over at Fort Wilderness call themselves the Fort Fiends. They are a fun, wild bunch!

Yes, I think a lot of people train (or at least used to) in Mexico City. Maybe running a week in the clean, high Kyrgyz air will do me a world of good! :confused3

I know. I have a lifelong issue with comparing myself to others. It's a dangerous game to play and I constantly need to remember I only have to compare myself with myself and what the Good Lord is making me to be. :goodvibes

The track can sort of be called that. It does have the squishy stuff, but it's torn up and buckled in a lot of places. I should take some pictures of it.

We will be at DAK on the 11th then DTD at night.

We grabbed a snack there last time (the cherry danishes are to die for!) and wished we had eaten a better (and cheaper) sannie there instead of at Sci-Fi, where the food was only so-so.

No overlap on our plans so far, but did PM you; I know we can work something out!!! :thumbsup2

Congratulations on making it through the 20 minute run!! :cool1: :thumbsup2  Many of us can walk faster than we can "run" but running takes a lot more effort so it's more of a workout. Your speed will increase over time. As you know, I waited until I completed the program before I started working on the speed. I'm currently running a 13 minute mile, which is still quite slow. But, I'm slowly making progress.

So happy for you Liesa!

Don't worry about running slowly. As long as you're getting your heart rate up, breathing, improving circulation etc. .....you're doing your body good.

"Every day, in every way, I'm getting better and better". :rotfl:

Congrats on your running accomplishment!

I'll have you know that I've had the theme to Ducktales stuck in my head since yesterday morning.

Scrooge is Donald's Uncle. :thumbsup2

You broke my record for slowest 20 minutes?????

Man I'm bummed. It was just about the only athletic record I'll ever qualify for. :rotfl: I'm happy to see it go to such a worthy fellow athlete.

I'm SO glad you chimed in Carissa!!! I saw you had posted on another thread today, and was hoping I'd get your take on running so slowly!!! I wish I knew how far I was actually running because then I could know how fast my "miles" are. I THINK the track I run on is 400 meters??? And that would involve massive amounts of math to convert and calculate. So I don't. I just run the workout, and know, that there is a VERY slim chance I'll be doing a 5K in 30 minutes (or even in 1 hour!) any time soon.

I remember that you had only started to try to add speed after you graduated. I guess that's a good plan that'll I'll end up doing too. :goodvibes Thanks, Coach!

The heart rate is up for sure!!! Until Week 4, I didn't break a sweat, but now, it's a whole new ballgame! Good thing I got me some new deodorant!

As for doing a body good, I'm sure the mac cheese that Bek made for dinner cancelled ANYTHING good I might have done yesterday. :rotfl2:

I'm so sorry, Crissy!! Mike just helped me do a ballpark figure calculation, and he thinks in the 30 minutes that include the 10 minutes of warm up and cool down, I"m going 3.2 K. So, if we figure right, I can do a 5 K in 40 minutes, ASSUMING I can maintain current speed?? So, you and I may be VERY well tied! :lmao:

Darn it, I don't have a Boma pic for you!

Aw shucks!!!
