Chillin' at the Contemporary-PTR+ All-Star quick trip TR - Completed

Went to get my hair done!! One more thing done for the trip!! I love the color! Looks amazing! hehe I kinda have hair like "Giselle". Although not as blonde.

Tomorow: car appointment

Must post picture!!!!

Turns out I'll be going to NYC Sept 3 to 6. A friend of mine called and said that our Art teacher association was having an organized trip. We'll be going to the museums and soho, and greenwich village and artist studios. woohoo!

That is VERY awesome! We'll be in Disney though, so no DIS meet! :sad1: I'm assuming you are hitting up art museums - MOMA and the Met being 2 of them? The village is a very cool area of the City - it's got neat old buildings and a true "artist vibe" even though it's ABSURDLY expensive to live there! The Upper West Side is full of old buildings that were originally designed and built for artists...now they are full of rich people!

Oh and Brook!! I want to go to NYC around the holidays too. Like a week end trip. I want to see the Rockefellar tree!

Very nice. I add red to my hair by coloring all the greys "Rosewood", but my hair is still too black for it to look as vibrant as yours!

Looking forward to your Disney pics. I just renewed my APs today. Just 33 more days. Hope this heat breaks. We hit 105 at Dulles the other day. :scared1:

She has to discolor my hair to get it that vibrant.

Ah! There is a trick to it! I'm just waiting for my hair to get grayer. Each year that I color it, it'll get redder and redder. Its the only positive way to put a spin on your hair turning gray.

yay for online check in!! I think we might try that for our December trip.. we already have 'Boardwalk view', so I'm not too worried about room requests or anything else! :goodvibes

Not long at all now til your trip!!

Love the hair colour btw :goodvibes

Yes, we'll be going to the Met, Moma, guggeihem (sp?), and the Whitney.

I haven't been to Whitney yet, but all the others are wonderful! I was about to say the Guggenheim was my favorite, then I thought Moma, but the Met has all the classics...such a hard choice! I know the Moma has a free evening, and the Met is a "suggested" price...I can't remember about the Guggenheim or Whitney. The Guggenheim is my favorite structure though, it's a wonderful piece that everyone HATED when Frank Lloyd Wright built it there on 5th Ave! :rotfl: Ah, love me some FLW!

Okay - as you can tell I'm waaaaaaaaaaaaaay into the history of New York City (and just about ANY city!)...I could babble on forever!

It's BEAUTIFUL! Really, really amazing. 5th Ave has some other decorations too, and the store windows are always incredibly impressive. We'll have a DIS meet then! :thumbsup2

I did it!! The online check-in is done! Let's dance!!

:rotfl::cool1::dance3::cheer2::banana::yay:party::donald:

:dance3: YAY!!!!!

Thanks!

I couldn't get to sleep last night. I was too excited lol

Thanks Brook!

I love my hair. Can't wait to see it in Pics with the castle and such hehe I'm talking about my hair as if it was a person lol

Do you have any clue when they light the Rockefeller center tree? I wanna see the treee. Not necessarily the lighting ceremony. Just the tree lol

Hi!

So this may sound weird, but I stayed up last night reading your entire PTR! Followed your over from another thread because of your username and the fact that you're staying at the Contemporary, my dream resort. Then I got all involved with the rest of your life..the job situation, the surprise birthday trip, the new hair color. :rotfl: Very interesting. Although I have to say, as a teacher here in the states, I find Canada's hiring practices downright bizzare and it all sounds incredibly unfair. Sorry about that.

I'm sure you are bouncing off the walls with excitement for your trip. I am sure it will be wonderful. Found that we tour somewhat similarly. I don't go all commando crazy, either.

My next trip will be my three year-old son's first, so that will be a little different, I'm sure.

I'm sorry you didn't have a better interaction with the Up! Characters. When we were there, my husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and Mr. Frederickson was very sweet about it, gesturing toward my anniversary pin and his heart. It was an incredible moment and I can't believe how long my husband and I waited in line for! But your pictures look really cute!

Hi!!

It doesn't sound weird at all!! I'm really happy you are here.

Yep, I'm bouncing off the wall. And starting today, I plan on reminding my dad that if we book during our stay, we have 40% off lol

It's usually about a week after Thanksgiving. I have pictures somewhere of it from a few years ago, it really is very, very beautiful! I love how the decorate the entire area.

New York City is my ancestral homeland! :lmao: I haven't lived there since I was a toddler, but we used to go and visit all the time when I was growing up... probably why we hardly ever went to Disney. The family hadn't started migrating to Florida as all Jews do when they get old!

When I think of NYC... I want the food. Its what my mom called "Jewish soul food"... you gotta go to a deli, get a corned beef on rye or Nathans and get a hot dog with lots of kraut. How's about also at Nathans, a potato knish! t-die-for! Nathans is on Coney Island in case you don't know. What about looking in the windows at Macy's... very important... how's about the fantastic deals on the lower east side (if they're still there... my memories are dated). And do not forget to get some cinnamon bobka, and black & white cookies... they have gezunta (big healthy sized) cookies in NYC and you can't find them that big anywhere else.. and don't forget to stop for bagels.. and if you love onions... get a bialy. You can ONLY find those in NYC.

Now.. the Guggenheim.... UGLY!!!! Never cared for Frank...sorry!! I'm a Smithsonian Gal. Our museums are free of admission charges. The Hirshhorn in DC is a modern art museum.. its round... don't like it... sorry. Give me bricks, collumns and shutters.

:woohoo: 32 more days til I'm in the World:woohoo:

I'll look it up. I wanna see the tree ever since I saw Home Alone 2 lol

Is it bad that when I think about NYC and Jewish Women I think about Fran Drescher! I love her so much!

You mentioned at some point during this PTR that you can hook up a portable DVD player to the resort tvs. Is this true? Is it easy? My husband and I noticed that there was a serious lack of television options when we were there and it would be awesome to have a DVD player when we bring our son. Thanks!

I have only done it at the CR. The flatscreens have the AV plugs on the front. I don't know about the other resorts. I also bring an extension power cord as the power plugs are very far.
