Finally getting to see the lights! Nov '11 Anniversary/Holiday/F&W PTR-New 11/4 p50

Yay for 6 days! Boo for no power! :headache:

Fingers crossed your power comes back on soon and that you can leave for vacation stress free. Those 80 temps are going to be a welcome relief for you guys!

Latest update from the power company is that it could be up to a week! They aren't even giving estimates as to when they'll have different areas back up... they are still assessing & clearing trees & downed power lines. :headache: I think I'll go work on packing & pretend everything is fine. :rolleyes1

Trick or Treat got postponed from tonight until Wednesday night. Zach is so mad he said, "I feel like putting up my middle finger!"

A WEEK! :scared1: Let's hope they are over estimating and get it back on in less time.

:rotfl2: LOL, poor Zach. That is a tough blow!

:flower3:

OUR October Storm 5 years ago there were people without power for a week, but most got it back within 3-4 days. Don't know how extensive the problem is in your area but here it was literally a case of city blocks where the power was knocked out to each and every house because of fallen tree limbs. We had power back only about 36 hours after it went out, but our house only got a few inches. (It actually didn't come back on before we left, though.)

My parents and my sisters family in Mass and Conn respectively are also without power. Meanwhile, Sunny and high 50s in Buffalo. Snowiest city - my a**. (We have a real inferiority complex here when it comes to snow.)

I had to laugh at Zach's comment. Our DD came home from school crying to DW...when asked why..."I was pointing, and I accidentally used my middle finger!!!!" Poor kid, guess we're pretty safe from her using rude guestures!

Anyways, back to you, take it from me, getting away after something like that becomes all that much more sweeter.

I had to LOL (for real) about Zach's frustration! :lmao: That line should be on Kids Say the Darnest Things! I know it's not right for him to even think about the middle finger as an outlet for his frustration but just the fact that he said he was thinking about it but didn't actually do it is so funny! Reminds me of the time when my brother was in elementary school and put a crayon in between his fingers and used it to express his frustration toward another classmate. That was obviously worse.

Poor Zach, but I think we have all felt like that at one time or another!

Hope your power comes on soon! It's so crazy to think this has all happened before the end of October!

I hope it's not a week. I want power on now, but I'll take it on Friday! Thursday would be better so I can get some laundry done but I wouldn't be embarassed to take dirty laundry to Jeff's house!

We lost power for a week back in the big ice storm of 2008. Then again last year for several days, so we know what it's like... it's just annoying! But I am very thanksful for our generator!! And yes, getting away will be even sweeter!!

Zach cracks me up sometimes! Crayon as a middle finger! I remember holding my pencil a certain way as a kid to make it stick up between my fingers... :confused3

There are definitely days I feel like putting up my middle finger!

Happy Halloween!

So I'm done with my "in two weeks" posts! I wasn't sure what I'd post in the few days leading up to our trip but I certainly wasn't expecting to be updating you on our Snowtober power outage! :rolleyes1 We are still without power & since the school is also still out, there is no school today! Last day of October & we've already had two days of school cancelled! :headache: You may recall that there was no school on the first scheduled day due to Hurricane Irene! Trick or Treat was postponed from last night to Wednesday night & we don't know when to expect power back. Our utility company is saying to plan for several days, up to a week! :scared1: Hopefully it will be sooner than Saturday because Tim has threatened to stay home... from our anniversary trip... :sad2:

The weather is still looking fantastic with highs around 80 & lows in the low 60s. :thumbsup2 Fortunately the weather here looks good too so we won't have to worry about getting out of here.

I got a few more things done on my to do list yesterday. Here is what was left yesterday morning:

• Watch the “Stranger Danger” DVD - DONE
• Program addresses into GPS (Jeff’s new address & BWV) – DONE
• Clean Gerbil Cage - DONE
• Order cake (31st)
• Pedicure (Tuesday)
• Chiropractor (Monday)
• Haircuts (Boys – Wednesday, Tim – Saturday, Amy – Tuesday)
• Remind school about kids missing days/get homework
• Pay Bills/check online banking/Get cash (Thursday)
• Clean house/change sheets
• Southwest online check-in (Friday)
• Pick up balloons (mylar so they stay filled)
• Charge everything
• Final laundry/packing
• Make sure park tickets are packed!
• Turn down heat/turn off water to washer

Hopefully our chiropractor will be open today... I've got a bit of stress in my shoulders for some reason. :confused3 Not sure I'll get to ordering the cake with the kids home so that may not get done today. I may try to get some more packing done today though.

In April trip news, I was able to get the Le Cellier lunch ADR that we wanted this morning. :thumbsup2 I'm finished with the April ADRs so I push that trip to the back burner & just focus on getting ready to go Saturday.

Hopefully I'll be back later today to tell you we got power back!! Or cable... or both! :confused3

I was shocked to see how hard hit you were with snow. How crazy to have that much snow before thanksgiving. I wonder if it will help the ski resorts with their November openings or if it will get so warm again that most of it will melt?

So sorry you are still without electricity. What a PITA! You must be so happy to have a trip right around the corner! I bet you can't WAIT to get to some warm weather!

We didn't get hit too bad with the snow - only about 5 inches (which is 5 inches too many for October) - but further north they got slammed! I've heard reports up to 31 inches! :scared1: That's high even for January/February standards.

I hope it helps with the ski resorts but it is warmer now so I suspect a lot will melt.

:yay::dance3:Yay for single digits! I am now less than 20 and so excited.

:wizard:Sending you some pixie dust for power!!! I work for the electric company here in Ohio. It is not uncommon for you to give worst case scenario for power restoration in the event that your true estimated restoration time does not pan out. Hoping beyond hope that you get power on Thursday.

:cool1::cool1: And we got our power back last night!!! :cool1::cool1:

Now I'm really excited & can focus on packing & getting ready for the trip in just four days!!!:banana:

I didn't get much done yesterday since the kids were home, but also because a lot of it needs to wait until Thursday & Friday. I'll post an update on that later this week.

This morning I'm off to get my hair cut/colored & get a pedicure!! :cloud9: Then I'm off to Target to pick up a few last minute things for the trip. :thumbsup2

The weather still looks fantastic with partly cloudy skies and high temps around 80! :sunny: Lows will be in the low-mid 60s. :dance3:

This afternoon, Zach will be testing for his blue belt in karate!! Wish him luck!
