Cars Land and Buena Vista St. in DCA open on June 15th - new info added 5-10-12

ACTUALLY, I just found out this answer today with a bit of news about the cafe via Al Lutz over at Mice Chat. Not only will there be outdoor seating (YAY) there will also be Starbucks on the menu! :) I guess they finalized it and it become part of the Practical Cafe. Here is a snippet:

Once inside the Pig Café, the restaurant will operate like a traditional Starbucks during the morning hours just after the park opens. It’s at that time of day that the four separate espresso machines each staffed by a Starbucks-trained barista will be going full blast (where most of Starbucks’ “big” stores only have two machines), and the refrigerated cases near the front will offer a selection of Starbucks own grab-n-go breakfast and pastry items. Later in the day the location will switch over solely to a Disney created menu for lunch and dinner options, while Starbucks espresso drinks will still be offered through park closing. Over a hundred seats at a few dozen tables inside and out at the Pig Café should soak up most of the lunch and dinner crowd, although it’s expected that the morning business will be mostly to-go orders as people stream into the park and head to Cars Land with their Venti Latte and Danish.

Cool huh!!

whoo hooo!!! FINALLY we are gonna get real coffee and not Nesca CACA!!!:worship::banana::cool1:

What's funny is thats EXACTLY what I wanted there! Just to be able to sit outside with a coffee in hand in the mid afternoon, sit at a table and watch the people and trollys go by...now my dream has been realized!!!! :cool1:

Note to self: Start coming up with better dreams! ;)

How exciting. Most of it sounds great! Can't wait to go back!

Am I the only one who doesn't appreciate Star Bucks? Ugh, just what the world needs one more shop selling over-roasted coffee to the masses. Couldn't they have brought in GOOD coffee? Guess we'll just keep bringing our own pot and making our own coffee. Oh well, it has become a tradition.

We recently told you about some of the shows and characters coming to Buena Vista Street at Disney California Adventure park. Well, that was just the beginning! When Cars Land opens June 15, the tiny town of Radiator Springs will also be teeming with atmosphere entertainment inspired by the Disney•Pixar film, “Cars.”

Big and red on the outside, gentle and good-natured on the inside, Red the Fire Truck shows up with his sirens blaring and his bell ringing, heading to meet up with his good buddy, a Volunteer Firefighter. The Firefighter lets everyone know the flowers in the area need watering. It’s “Red to the Rescue,” but each time the Firefighter attempts to use Red’s hose, it backfires on him! In all the fun, the plants manage to get wet, and you might too!

Bringing a completely different kind of beat to the street is “DJ’s Dance & Drive.” DJ, the ultimate party car, rolls into town with his giant speakers, built-in disc changer and his very own dance party, led by a girl named Spinner. This gang stops traffic everywhere they go, creating a spontaneous, interactive dance party. Spinner and the crew teach us moves like the Overdrive, the Reverse and the Hairpin Turn, while DJ calls up the hits, from “Life in the Fast Lane” to “Car Wash.” DJ’s going to shift Cars Land into high gear!

Cruise on down to Cars Land this summer at Disney California Adventure park. The residents there will be glad you rolled into town!

He also currently does disney dance crew

Quick update:

Talked to a friend of mine who is working on the CCT and they are a tiny bit behind schedule, but she assures me it's only a few days and that barring a catastrophe, they should be fine to open BVS on time (there were rumors floating around that it wouldn't be ready for June 15). They are currently setting up all the furniture and showed me pictures of pieces in both the restaurant and the exclusive lounge, and they are really gorgeous pieces! Very fitting with the 1920s mission style theme and the restaurant is just sumptuous looking. The exclusive lounge is actually in the shape of a mickey head and the two "ear sections" are two smaller, private areas for VIPs.

We just touched on Carsland briefly, as that is not her project, but she has friends working on it that gave her a quick tour. She showed me a few pictures of the entrance area (not sure which, but I think from the Wharf) that were just amazing. The details are intricate and looks just like you are cruising down a one lane road into this amazing landscape. There are guardrails and other road details similar to the GRR area, but it doesn't feel like a copycat.

Overall they are busy busy busy and really pushing hard to make sure they are on time. All involved are really happy with the way things are coming out and they can't wait for June.

Thanks for the update. Do you know if the delay is in regards to touching up the tower?

So does anyone know for sure if there will be any kind of sprinkler water area like in bugs life? There used to be a pretty fun one before...

I am guessing no. Last summer when we were there the bugs life one was turned off.

Also assuming all restaurants at Carsland will not be reservations?

We are really excited for our July trip!!

As far as I know, there are no fountain play areas in CL! I think there is a picture of a water tank behind the Radiator Spring Curios shop like in the movie, but I dont know if its just a prop or will it have water feautres of some kind? All I can say is nothing has been announced, but keep your fingers crossed!

And no, no restaurants will have reservations in CL, all strictly counter service!

Fliks Fun Fair still has a water play park in it. Princess Dot's Puddle Park.

Cars Land has in concept drawing and models, including later created ones, the water tower that leaks. Unfortunately the area is so well hidden it's hard to tell if it is in place or not.

Cars Land will also have Red, the firetruck spraying people. This is described breifly in the OP and link below.

I am very happy with what they have done with CarsLand so far! I like that it isn't tacky looking! I can't wait til I walk down that street! :goodvibes

Ahhhh I'm sooo excited!!
Is it known when/if CCT will have reservations?

Also, I've never been to a Disney Park premiere, just how bad is it?
I've been to the soft opening of Wizarding World in Florida, but we left on opening day, thereby missing the gigantic crowd...

Disney has not announce when CCT will start taking reservations. They have said to watch the Disney Parks Blog and twitter for the announcement.

Lines several hours long and wall to wall people in certain parts of the park. People lining up the evening before to get in.

CCT will have reservations, but as skiingfast said, its not officially taking any yet and to keep checking the aboved mentioned sites. My guess within the next few weeks.

As for when Disney premieres something new...total chaos lol! Last year with ST and TLM opening, it was crazy with the lines. ST 2 line was around 5-6 hours at the height of its insanity. TLM around 2 and a half (but it goes MUCH faster).

And anyway, this isnt just the opening of a ride or even a land. They are trying to rechristen the entire park and they are going to promote it as one big relaunch since it sucked the first time so much lol.

So expect an avalance full of people showing up opening day. And yes, there are rumors Disney is going to let people spend the night on the premise just to be the first in. I will be in my hotel room instead lol.

Anyway, if you're patient and just there for the energy they are usually great times! :)

premieres in general, whether they be movie premieres or park premieres are horrid...people camp outside as early as they are allowed to...its not something i will do thats for sure
