Nemesis Challenge:It's OK to Finish Next-To-Last, As Long As I Beat HIM/ Its Here!!!!

Aaaaaaand....that didn't last long. Printer won't print the shirts due to copyrighted characters being on it.

Exploring other options...

The logo looks really good. I hope you can find someone to print it. You'll definitely want it to be screen printed on, if they print it using one of the vinyl type stick ons it'll probably chafe.

You obviously just need to find a less scrupulous shirt maker. :lmao:
Yes. Yes we do.

Have you tried Vistaprint? They did one of my DISDads shirts, when Zazzle wouldn't.
Vista print doesn't have the tech running shirts that we need. Good idea though. :thumbsup2

Running 13.1 miles and adding an extra chance of chafing doesn't sit well with me. :sad2: :scared:

Tell me about it. My brother lives over in China and he was telling me about all the knock off Nike, Louis Vitan, etc stuff for sale on every street corner. Evidently, the rule with Olympic branded merchandise is that you can't see stuff for the next games until the current games are over. A few days before the 2006 games were over in Turin, he saw a box full of "Beijing 2008" shirts under a table and asked to buy some. He was told no, they won't sell them until after the Turin games. My brother asked why, when they have all these other trademark knockoffs sitting out. "Those are American companies. We don't care about their trademarks. We care about Beijing trademarks."

As Tim said, they don't print on they type of shirt we need. Very few people do, and those that we can find only do white. I was excited when I found the place that I did because they offer "Safety Orange." Nothing like glowing orange as you wait for the early morning start!

All of the places I've checked require a minimum of 12 for screen printing. They do offer direct digital printing (or something like that) where they basically use a fancy inkjet printer to print right on the shirt.

Just dropped in to say; Go Team Tim.

That is all.
Yeah! This thread needs a kick in the butt. :lmao:

I want to post an update on how I ran the longest I ever run yesterday (7 miles in 71 minutes). And how I think I made that run with a fracture in my ankle. And how I'm calling the orthopedic doctor tomorrow to try to get seen and hopefully get an x-ray but I didn't want to bring the thread down. :sad2:

I will say my legs feel great today!!!! :lmao::lmao:

Tim, you need to take some magic pills and get better. Though I have tentatively joined Team Barry I am rooting for both of you and am easily swayed. You don't want me to have to fill in for you. I am slow!

I'll make sure I bring some duct tape to the race. If it starts to act up, we can make a split out of used Dole Whip straws and tape it up good so you can finish the race.

You got some magic pills? Where did you get them? Out of the back of a van on the south side of Chicago? Because I've got to tell you....that's not magic in those little pills. :scared1:

Well, I don't like it quite as much, this is the design I've submitted to get printed:

NemesisChall2.jpg

They might still have an issue with Donald Duck being on it, but if they claim they can't print a picture of a fedora, I'm going to call my friends at the O.W.C.A. and see if I can get a strike force together. I should know by today if it will be acceptable or not.

I've been so busy at work that I haven't even had time to pop in here and let you all know how my run on Sunday went. It was a perfect December day - low 50s here in Southeast Wisconsin and not a flake of snow to have to deal with. (This is in stark contrast to early Decembers in years past). I set off from my front door, heading north. And just so you don't think this area is all beautiful vistas of Lake Michigan....

corn.JPG

...we also have beautiful vistas of corn fields. :thumbsup2

As for the run - it was a completely new route for me. It was a mix of residential streets, country roads, crushed gravel recreation path and paved pathways. I met Bambi and the kids at the Oak Creek Parkway, exactly 13.1 miles from home. Total Time: 2:24:49, or 11:00 minutes per mile. I felt pretty good afterward - we ate at a Sonic drive in because Bambi didn't want me to offend anyone inside a restaurant with my smell. Luckily, it was nice enough out that we could sit in the van with the windows down.

Later that night I even took Madison for a 1/4 mile run and Evan for his mile. I was a bit sore after that, but still not as bad as after my 11 or 12 mile runs.

So, now that I know I can survive 13.1 miles, I guess I need to work on my time. I'm pretty proud of myself for doing this one in under 2:30. :woohoo:

It still looks good. I'm with you though that if the problem they had before was copyrighted characters this one still might not pass muster. Do you have any local screen printers that you could go in to their shop to talk with someone? I know my brother-in-law designed a t-shirt for a client that was going on a KISS cruise and he didn't run into any issues getting it printed at a local shop. :confused3

Nice job with the re-work. IF they have an issue with Donald are you able to cut him out and use a 1/2 marathon logo without him in there?

Great job on the run! Now you know you can run 13.1 miles and not die. Although dying at the happiest place on earth wouldn't be terrible. :rotfl2:

11 minute mile? I guess that means I am going to finish about 13 minutes before you. I'm sure I have 3-4 beers down by that point. I'll be sure to thank your wife and kids too.... unless they are tracking your progress. They probably won't even be waiting at the finish line when I cross. :confused3 :rolleyes:

Sounds like a great run. Most runner's magazines and training plans have you running your training runs at 2 min per mile faster than your actual race pace. While it's your first half it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume that adrenaline alone will help you drop a min per mile. Unless your stopping for princess pics my guess is you'll wind up finishing disney somewhere around 2:10 and probably a little faster.

Well, I don't like it quite as much, this is the design I've submitted to get printed:

Ahh come on Tim. Based on your 10k I think you can do better than a 10mm pace. That being said don't kill yourself too much in the first part of the race. Hope your achilles has started behaving.

Yeah! This thread needs a kick in the butt. :lmao:

Have the doctor give you enough shots to numb the pain through the marathon, then deal with the surgery. :rotfl:

Seriously, heal up quickly. :thumbsup2

NOT.

I stumbled across a new Disney running podcast called The Mickey Miles Podcast. Mike Scoppa is one of the hosts. Lots of info on running at Disney events.

Tim - how's your ankle? Any news from the Dr?

I went out and did 13.22 miles on Saturday morning. It took me 2 hours and 38 minutes which is about right. When I signed up I estimated at 2 hrs 45 min. In about the past month or so I decided that my goal would be 2 hrs 30 mins. This is certainly in range. There were a couple of times that I walked for 30 seconds or so just to get some oxygen flowing back through my lower legs but I think I can eliminate this and also push myself to go a little faster. I'm just hoping it's not too warm for the race.

With the adrenaline and other stuff going on race morning taking off 8 minutes is very doable. You might even take off more than that.

It looks like this version passes muster. I submitted the order on Thursday night and as of this afternoon, their order tracking website has it as "In Production." So that's a good sign...

Wow. Smack talk from someone who's training has topped out at 7 miles. Talking doesn't get you to the finish line. Running does.

Tried to do 13 miles on 12/8. Could only do 11.14 though. I just got started too late and ran out of daylight. After Barry's near miss, I decided it would be better to just cut the run short than have to keep an eye out for the Ram 1500 of death that Tim has obviously sent out to pick us off one by one. So my 11.14 miles finished in about 122 minutes. It was plenty warm (mid to upper 60's) so I intentionally slowed down a bit.

Good job on the run. Bad job on the ankle. I've had some pain in my ankle but I believe it's ligament stuff. I've just been stretching a ton and didn't have any pain on my last run.

I thought of you on Saturday. I looked at my time, did the math and realized that I'd have to speed up to keep up with you. In fact, even after the castle photo when we start to split up, I'll be using you for my pace.

I agree on the adrenaline comment. But on training runs, you don't have to dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge all the slower runners. At the race in January, I got to the 1-mile mark and couldn't believe how easy the first mile was. Then I realized that it was a 12-minute mile. It didn't seem like I was going slow, I just had to bob and weave my way through the walkers. Of course, this was in corral H. It will be interesting to see how things are further up.
