Somebody's Gonna Pee in a Cup, West Coast - Link to new TR 1/21

I'll take a bus over to Disney Springs to eat a late lunch at Jock Lindsey's and maybe look around a little bit.

I can't wait to hear what you think of this place. Wish I'd gotten to see it last month.

But, I kind of want to see Symphony in the Stars from the entrance of DHS.

Can't blame you there. That sounds awesome!

My mom and dad bought my Universal ticket for me for Christmas, so I'll go ahead and get the Express pass.

That's a pretty sweet Christmas gift.

We ate there for the first time on our last trip and I was astonished at how small the place was.

I agree. It's such a tiny restaurant. Hope the counter thing works.

The Harry Potter attractions are not included in the Express Pass program.

Aw, come on. Really? That's annoying.

I just finished the 4th one last night. I'm going to try to continue to watch them all, but... I'm having a hard time watching them. They're long and I'm really not as into them as I thought I'd be

I was kind of the same way. I thought they were good stories, and I felt like if I had been introduced to that world when I was 8, I would have thought it was the best thing ever. But they're fine. Like any other series, there are good movies and bad ones.

Basically, it seems like all I need to know is every movie starts during the summer, they all go to Hogwarts, something goes horribly wrong, Harry isn't responsible yet they always blame him, he spends the whole movie trying to right the wrong, he comes out on top, Dumbledore tells him all the things he did wrong in skirting the rules then gives him a slap on the wrist and some kind of reward for having thwarted the evil. Maybe some plot twists will come later, but it seems pretty consistent through all of them thus far.

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I think this is why I'm willing to forgive a certain other movie for a "recycled plot". It's not like there aren't any other examples of this.

Be warned on movie 7 (Deathly Hallows, Part 1). They decided to split the final book up into 2 movies, and it really shows. All the exciting stuff happens in part 2. Part 1 was my least favorite in the series.

As much as I love US/IoA, I totally think Sea World would be a better place for your daughter and wife. Like you said, so much more they will be able to do. Are there any special offers currently for tickets on the SW website? Or Undercover Tourist? Or AAA? The last time we went to SW, their website had adult admission at kids prices and AAA had a similar offer that included lunch at the park.
I know they have a discount of $10 per ticket if you buy in advance on the website. I haven't looked everywhere yet.

As far as I can tell, they have a single ticket price for anyone 3 and up.

Although I don't drink much, a bar crawl with buddies > B&C solo.
::yes::

I'm really looking forward to it.

I still can't figure out if I'll be able to hear the soundtrack from outside the park. I wish I knew... If I can hear it from outside the turnstiles then I want to venture on over there. If I knew I couldn't hear it there then I'd likely just momentarily excuse myself from the bar crawl and step outside and find a view towards DHS from outside whatever resort we're visiting at the time.

That's a pretty sweet Christmas gift.

I'll keep it in mind. But with the bar crawl starting at 5... Well, I kind of want to hang out with the Disdads. I think I'm just going to forget about B&C this time around. Unless I'm really craving some ice cream late in the night.

Aw, come on. Really? That's annoying.
::yes:: But it kind of makes sense. The only way to get a "kind of" front of the line experience is to stay at a Universal resort and get early entry.

That's definitely a good point. I'm sure I'd appreciate it more if I was in the wheelhouse age for the material when it was released.

::yes:: It is definitely a good point. And while that certain other movie has a bit of a recycled plot, I felt like it was very appropriate in this case and worked well. But I don't want to see more recycled plots from here on.

Oh boy. I can hardly wait.

I got a double dose of bad news today. Well, not bad bad. But not ideal.

I was out of the office today for a meeting. It was a Farm Bureau meeting, which happens to be the organization sending me to Orlando. Today had nothing to do with the trip but they did have a little session at the end for some of us who are going to give us a little more info.

As it turns out, based on a revised itinerary, I need to be at the convention center at around 4 for an event on Saturday. Which means back to the hotel from universal in time to shower and change. And it will definitely not allow me too make it to the big dinner at Ohana that I'd really been looking forward to. I'm really bummed about this, but still hopeful that I can head over after I'm done and meet up with a few of the dads at Trader Sams after they eat.

In other news, I was finished packing. Just had to load up the truck when I got home today. I was prepared for business casual as in the past with khakis and polo shirts. Well today they told us they want us to wear a jacket and tie. Maybe not the whole time but definitely Tuesday. And ideally Sunday and Monday too.

I hate ties.

Wanna guess how much repacking I have to do now???

That's too bad. I'd been following along on the DisDads thread and was a little envious that everyone was getting together.
Well.... Look at it this way. You're going to Disneyworld!

They can't do this!! They're taking the vacation out of your vacation!!!

That's true! I'll still get to meet several of them on Friday. Might miss out on a few by not getting to Ohana though.

They did make sure to remind us that it is a "business trip." But in a volunteer role. You know, when I think business trip I expect to be paid to be there.

Oh well, they only get me Saturday afternoon through Tuesday evening. Then it is all fun and games.

Ok... I did it. I leave for Florida directly from work tomorrow. It is almost 11:30 and I'm going to bed having just completed watching the last of the Harry Potter movies.

I feel like I need to read the books now to explain what the heck I just watched in the last one, but I've watched them. I really felt like they started getting better with 5 and then 6... as Mark warned me, 7 was a step back but it finished strong with 8.

But I still can't figure out what the heck the whole now he's dead / now he's alive thing was.

Watching the movies definitely gives you adequate storyline for visiting the parks. But for more insight, and scenes that didn't make the movies you HAVE to read the books. I read them all growing up, but I still like to listen to the audio books when I'm at the gym from time to time. They never get old!

Which he was dead and now he's alive part are you referring to? Maybe I can shed some light. ::yes::

He had to die so that the part of him that was Voldemort would die as well (that was the little thing under the bench)

Have fun on the trip!
(And don't forget the tie.)

I'm sure I'll get around to reading them. I've got one of them downloaded on my kindle app already. I enjoy reading, it is just a matter of finding time.

Harry. I didn't get the whole dead, but not really thing. I did some google work and I think I kind of get it but still not really. I mean, if he died and came back, why couldn't Dumbledore... You know? I realize it is wizard stuff but it is like mortality is a fluid thing.

Ok... so Voldemort killed the crux thingy in Harry. But I still can't quite get the whole thing about Harry dying and then he's alive. Did Harry have one of those crux thingies for himself somewhere?

Er... Definitely didn't have a horcrux.
Voldemort really only "killed" his own self, not Harry.
Harry had the three Deathly Hallows (He already had the invisibility cloak, He really had the Elder Wand when he won it from Draco Malfoy, He got the Resurrection Stone from Dumbledore) so he was the master of death and could decide to live again.

Because reasons. Sheesh.

 Mind. Blown.

Totally missed that point, but yeah, now it makes sense.

Because reasons. Sheesh.
I guess it is the same reason things explode in the vacuum of space with Star Wars, right?

@pkondz 's got it! As far as Voldemort only destroying the piece of himself inside Harry. I believe that Voldemort was unable to kill Harry with the elder wand because the elder wands allegiance was with Harry all along.

It's all in the details. Clearly the details that I missed/didn't quite put together.

Hey everyone! I tried to catch up around here today, and I think I managed to do so for the most part. I've mentally checked out already, but I'm just warming my office chair until someone gets back from lunch. Once they return, I'm out of here!

I might try to pop in and check on things and say hi during my trip as time allows, but if not, I'll see you all later.

Well, the door just opened, she's back I'm outta here!
