Can I ask you one last thing as seen as you've used your magic band for paying, did you do it while on the dining plan?

If so, do you just mention it when they bring the total bill or do you mention that you're paying via the ddp before you eat?

Yes, we were on the dining plan... We let them know we were on the DP as soon as our waiter/waitress arrived. Makes it a lot easier for them to calculate, I believe.
But we also had a CC attached to each magic band. DH had his cc on his, I had mine and DGS had his own. So when they swiped for credits we were also able to charge the tip onto whichever cc we wanted. We were all on the same dining plan, same room, but all had different cc associated with our own MBs.
You can connect your cc (or debit card) to whichever MB you wish, all or one. Just let the wait staff know that you will be charging the tip. That way we didn't have to carry anything extra with us, left our CCs in the safe in the room, only carried ID, and no cash... so much easier!

Brilliant thank you. I realise that this is the topping thread so don't want to ask too much about the ddp, but do you know if it's possible to add on an appetizer to your ddp meal and pay separately for it or can you not do that?

I have seen on this useful thread that some people try to budget for their tips before they leave using for example the DDP or out of pocket. I was wondering how folks do this as they don't know yet what the bill will come to? Tia.

I look at the menus and guestimate what our bill will come to. Then I add a few bucks to that for a cushion.

All your charges go on one cc bill at your resort. You can elect to pay them at the end of your stay or do it daily, or however you desire.

You can add on whatever you want and pay for it separately - appetizers, alcoholic beverages, extra desserts, etc.

You can pay your tip in American currency, cc, debit card, Disney gift card, or Disney dollars. (I think I hit all the choices). Just let your server know when you go to deduct your credits from your dining plan.

Adding to the pp, the total cost will also show on your receipt. It will look like a receipt you get anywhere else with a cost for each item listed.

Its been a little while since I have been to the World. We use to charge tips to the room and then would go to the front desk and pay everything with either cash or gift card. Is this still the case or will they charge your CC each time individually?

If your cc is set up with your magic band, then it's the same process as before. You always had a cc attached to your room for expences. If you've used dining credits for your meal, you just let the server know you wish to charge your tip to your magic band. At the end of your stay your cc will be charged the full amount of all your charges. They do not do it by meal or daily.
We usually checked every day or every other day on our charges, but you don't have to.

No, they don't automatically charge your room... If you write down nothing and you leave no cash, your waiter/waitress does not get a tip. An automatic gratuity is only added on to checks with groups of 6 or more.

If you're on the DDP, you do not pay any tax, your credits cover the tax. You only need to tip on what the total bill would be.

So, just to make sure I'm understanding you right. If the total meal cost is $200, then the total bill would be $200, no tax? We are on the DxDP.
