And THAT! too funny. I have to get the sensitive perfume free one.

  • Clothes pins for the curtains
  • Magnetic hooks to hang stuff
  • Magnetic clips are also great for the walls
  • I've always brought some sort of air fresheners to hang in the bathroom because they don't have any exhaust fans
  • Bluetooth speaker for the room. I always enjoy some background music when hanging around in the room, plus mine is waterproof so I've got some tunes for the shower
  • If you're doing a themed cruise, bring some decorations for your door! We did a merrytime cruise in December and brought battery operated Christmas lights and tinsel and went all out!

A side note: we always take down all the hangers from the closet so we don't have to hear them rattling all night if/when the ship gets a bit rocky

I would kindly ask you to reconsider that for those of us with scent sensitivities. I personally am very sensitive to febreeze, so if someone were dousing my room before I got in there it would be next to impossible for me to stay there and enjoy my cruise.

I'm sorry but I never even thought about people with scent sensitivities. I'll just stick with spraying my clothes when I put them in my suitcase.

Wait, what?! There aren't clocks in the room anymore?! Its been a year since I've been on the Magic but we had a clock.

It seems the clocks are being phased out. As they break, they are not being replaced. Sometimes, if you ask, your room host can track one down for you. But I wouldn't count on it. We have a small, battery-powered, alarm clock we bring on trips.

I had read it somewhere here before we went, and I thought, not a big deal. It was so sorely missed, we joked about buying one in the gift shop. I really really try not to have my phone readily accessible (or wear a watch), especially when on the ship, and it was comical how many times we had to ask each other, "what time is it?" for every event we planned to go to, or just even dinner. You don't make a lot of friends with your tablemates or servers if you waltz into dinner 15 minutes late.

Definitely bring a portable clock.

The only times I wear a watch is when I'm out (never at home), including on trips. I bought a pretty, waterproof, one that I can wear on excursions (even when swimming) for this.

I wear a watch, so it's not unusual for me at all. But you wouldn't believe how many people on the ship would stop me and ask the time!

I have a small bag of "essentials" that I take on every single trip, cruise or otherwise. It includes a small travel alarm clock so I don't have to guess about resetting the room clock; a small flashlight in case there is a power failure or I need to move around the room at night while DW is sleeping; a small repair kit containing a sewing kit, duct tape, some zip ties, and a small multitool (made for keychains); and a small med kit containing OTC pain meds, bandaids, and moleskin. I throw in a wine opener and Swiss Army knife if I'm checking the bag. I don't need every single item on every trip, but over the last 15 years or so I've used every single item, some more than once.

I haven't worn a watch for over 20 years. On the way home from a trip out west my watch wouldn't reset, but I discovered that there are clocks almost everywhere (my computer, on the walls, in my car, etc, not to mention my phone), no never replaced it. I've gotten pretty good about estimating the time pretty well.

But when I cruise I have a Mickey wrist watch that I wear around my lanyard. I do the same with my Magic Band because I no longer like the feel of a watch, etc, on my wrist.

Just purchased bar 20 waterproof watches for myself and 2 granddaughters. Those girls best have those watches on their wrists the entire time we are out and about. No taking them off for swimming. So glad to know in advance there aren't many clocks so we could prepare. Didn't mean to sound harsh lol

Where o where did I see it posted that some wipe down airplane trays and the like with sanitizing wipes? I have a question. How do you carry sanitizing wipes on plane? I just ordered the Clorox hydrogen peroxide wipes but the container will be too big. Can I just carry a few in ziplock Baggie and check the bigger container? Will they allow thst? The question sounds dumb even to me, sorry

I always carry these in my purse / car. They're individually wrapped so last longer. This would allow you to check the big pack of wipes but still have some on you for the travelling to the ship.

I think the most unusual things I have brought on board are 2 dollar bills! I know a lot of people that rarely see and/or have these. I think it is a great way to tip room service.

Oh, oh - someone has joined my 2 dollar bill club. Since our 2001 cruise we have been using 2 dollar bills for room service and for extra in the server and steward envelopes. We get interesting comments and smiles.

We were told (early in our cruising career) that most times the crew members don't really appreciate the $2 bills. Apparently (at least at that time) there were many foreign banks/merchants who think they're "funny money" and won't accept them.
