I've been following this thread closely, concerned for everyone affected. I am sorry so many had to abandon their trips last minute.
Just got off the Magic, heard they have less than 1000 guests left after all the cancellations. Wish we could just jump back on board (probably get a great deal)!
One last update- the captain said at the show that we couldn't meet the Fantasy once they added another day.
Also we took on 1/2 a million gallons of ballast so that the trip back would be smoother and we will be sailing VERY close to the shore- (to avoid the rough seas). We got quite a lesson tonight in sea levels and water and wind- it's actually been fascinating each night to listen to the captain share his expertise. I have some cool photos of him in the WD theater on stage with the hurricane on the big screen in the background- not very typical!!
I'm looking forward to tomorrow but apparently we will have to disembark and come back on and then be off Sunday morning by 7am (possibly earlier) so the Fantasy can come in.
Again, Disney has done the best job they possibly could. I have some friends on a carnival right now and their FB posts make me soooo glad we did this.
I booked my placeholder tonight- my kids deserve to go to CC for being troupers through all of this. Wish they would give us a bit of a discount on a future cruise (Royal is doing this for the enchantment which had almost an identical itinerary and changes). But I am 99% satisfied with all they have done given the circumstances!

Right now on the Magic there's more crew than guests...
You should get really great service. So over half the people cancelled their cruise.i imagine they cancelled the late dining and have everyone in main dining. Enjoy
I am wondering whether DCL is compensating those CMs with tipped positions in any way. If they only have half the normal cruisers, those tips will be halved as well. I know that @hmkenn0 mentioned that DCL took on the tips for those additional nights on the Dream. I hope they do something similar for the Magic with only half the passengers.
I also think they're not going to "make up" whatever tips. We did a cruise that one of the rotations didn't have a late seating (ours, as it turns out) and I asked our server about that. He said they only get the gratuities that come from the guests, so only for the one seating on that cruise. In a tippable job, that's the chances you take.Doubt if they would. Even if the ship is a third full they will still make more than a lot of workers on the ship that is not on a tip position.
Woohoo!!!! Would love to hear a Mickey whistle - though I doubt they can do that pulling in.
i'm watching it on the webcam - maybe they will..
there are a LOT of people out on deck since this is such an unusual arrival - they don't have to get off the ship right away like they usually do..
and it's not early early in the morning, but in the middle of the day
