What is Bavarian cream, exactly? We have gotten custard and strawberries in the past and I remember it was pretty good (we ordered a 10-inch...which didn't fit in the fridge so it went bad after we each only had one slice!) so it was on my list. Thanks for the suggestion!
Bavarian cream is a pudding-like filling like you'd find in a Boston Cream Pie or the School Bread in Norway.:cake:

The amaretto crunch mousse sounds divine. I wasn't sure I could convince their pastry team to do that flavor but sounds like it is worth a shot!

He likes red velvet cake - go figure. But we get really good red velvet locally so it isn't "exotic" enough. Sigh.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Bavarian Cream is hard for me to describe. It would be a little bit similar to the custard but to me is lighter and airier than a custard and amazing with fresh fruit.

We had amaretto crunch with Almond Cake it was also very good.

If I order a cake that is covered with fondant, do I specify a frosting flavor along with the cake and filling flavors? I've never had a cake with fondant on it, so I don't know how that works. Is there frosting under the fondant?

Yes there is frosting under the fondant. If you're using frosting as filling it will be the same, otherwise I think they just stick to basic buttercream but I could be wrong

Thank you! I plan on ordering a chocolate mousse filling for my daughter's 16th birthday. She LOVES chocolate mousse. :)

The standard is vanilla buttercream frosting under the fondant, but I've done a couple with chocolate buttercream under the fondant. If the fondant is white, they may advise against it, but for colorful fondant, you can't tell the difference.

Last week I emailed Kathy from Magic Kingdom cakes regarding the cupcakes at Cinderella's Royal Table. It is DS's birthday while we are down there so I wanted to do something special, but not necessarily a whole cake. So the day after his birthday we will be at CRT and even though it is a princess meal, I think that eating at the castle is just something that is so special. So I was given choices of cupcakes, the prince one, a Rapunzel and Cinderella. They come in chocolate and vanilla and are $8.25 each plus tax. You can also have up to 4 words written on the plate. She was excellent to correspond with and answered all my questions. I ended up getting the prince one for DS and the Rapunzel one for DD (even though it's DS's birthday treat, I know she will love to share in the fun!) We are still a month out til our trip, but I will post pictures once we get back!

The Contemporary made me a cake that was pink inside once, so.... seems like it!

I have been working with Magic Kingdom cakes for something Lumiere themed to be delivered to our dinner at BOG. Started by asking for a one tier mini cake. They said it would be $45 with a 2D Lumiere on top and decorated to look like the cake he sings on top of in the movie. (I had sent them a picture for reference.) however they were unable to do any of the fillings I asked for so paying that much for a cake the size of a cupcake pretty much wasn't sitting well with me. I asked if she could do a Lumiere themed cupcake like the Princess and Prince ones. She said they could do a "vanilla thened cupcake with a 2D image of Lumiere on top for $10". Sign me up! I have asked them to write Good luck Jan & Gretchen on the plate. Hopefully that's not too long. If so I'll just ask for Good luck and or initials I think. I figure we can split the cupcake and still enjoy dessert off the cart if we desire. I was a little bummed about the cake, but am super happy with the budget friendly option we came up with! I'll post a picture after we receive it early November!

Trying to figure out what flavor cake and filling flavors I should do for my birthday cake this year. My chocolate-hating husband (he is ok, other than this major flaw ;) ) is coming along this year after sitting out the last two trips. My kids and I have gotten the ganache and peanut butter frosting suggested by Lurkyloo the last two years, but that is, of course, not an option. Anyone have a favorite interesting combo, i.e.., not vanilla/vanilla, that doesn't feature chocolate or white chocolate (since I don't like white chocolate)? We would order it to be delivered to our room at Beach Club and plan on a 6-inch cake, if that makes a difference. Thanks!
One of the tiers of our wedding cake was yellow cake with raspberry mousse filling which was very good!

Not sure if I will order a special cake this trip, it would be a first if I do. But I do like the thoughts of arriving in our room and having a small Animal Kingdom Lodge themed cake waiting on us, a surprise for everyone. I know it would be pricey, and then if I would like to possibly change the room that they assign me, that could be a problem. I don't know. Will ponder the idea for a bit.

I love the zebra striped cake that AKL makes, and would order that in a second if we were staying there, or going to eat at one of their restaurants (not this upcoming trip, unfortunately!).

Amy at Magic Kingdom Cakes confirmed our Lumiere cupcake. She added it to our reservation and didn't require a credit card or anything. We'll pay for it when we get there.

What flavor are those? Do you know how much they generally run?

I saw the info on the first couple of pages of this thread as far as p[rices go (can't remember), and there are some pictures on here as well. I'm afraid I don't know what page the pictures are on. So, basically, I am NO HELP :)
