Official 2017 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

I got an email reminder that I had a survey, then a few hours later an email survey - which is totally backwards, but... :rotfl:

I just wanted to say congratulations to everyone who finished last weekend! I just arrived back on the east coast. Missing that California weather already. I agree
with most everyone's lack luster feeling about the course entertainment. I ran the Disneyland Double Dare last year and it was amazing. One of the best races I have ever run. This was definitely not that experience. It was more like the regular half marathons I have ran. I still enjoyed it, though.

On a side note... the tenth anniversary coast to coast is definitely a good bit larger than last year's. Love all of the extra details!

I must've been living under a rock, I didn't know it was the 10th anniversary C2C so it was a nice surprise to get that special medal.

Trip Report! https://www.disboards.com/threads/1...ink-race-and-mothers-day-trip-report.3605306/

PS IT'S FAIRY FRIDAY! (can you tell I'm having a hard time letting go of this weekend)

I'll follow your cue, and post a link to my trip report too. :D

Second Star to the Right

And, I was totally thinking about Fairy Friday today and how I'll miss it.

Can I throw out a post-race Fairy Friday question?

What was your favorite moment of the weekend? (Race or non-race related)

Answer: My answer is easy. Meeting up with some of you awesome Disboard folks. It was so nice to see people in person and I especially loved seeing @Ariel484 and @roxymama during the races!!

Oh yes, that's a tough moment to top. I was more excited to get that pic than the fairies that I was waiting in line for!
This is a tough question, so I guess I'll just think about fave race moments. I'll have it in my recap but photopass caught me totally being overcome with happy-tears emotion somewhere after the mile 13 marker before the finish. I was so choked up and bursting with feelings. That's a hard memory to top. And finally getting a castle race photo...definitely that too!

Race moment - meeting up with @ZellyB @Chris-Mo and @roxymama! Both in the Corrals and on the race courses! :teeth:

Non-race moments...the DIS-meet was really fun, and i DL left on Tuesday rather than Monday, so I had an entire day after the races in the parks, which was awesome.

Yes the races had their problems, but it was really a great trip!

Hrm... I have so many! But two that stand out:

Race moment would have to be that people actually recognized my friend and I (and my panda stuffy Peking) were Bolt, Mittens, and Rhino. Friend has had her Bolt costume awhile and she often gets mistaken for Marie or the White Rabbit. Peking in his Rhino costume tended to draw attention to us and then people would spy the Bolt costume and make the connection. I was often just referred to as "that cat" which became a running joke for most of the 10K between us that only handful of people could remember Mittens' name.

Non-race would be the birthday card signed by the staff at Club 33 I was given when they found out I was celebrating my birthday that weekend (although the whole experience was a super magical moment including being allowed to order dessert for an appetizer and salad/soup, lol). I nearly cried at the table from how sweet it was. I think they were going out of their way to make sure I enjoyed my first visit to the club too.

May not have been the best race weekend I've had, but it had plenty of good moments :)

The weekend was so wonderful that it is hard to pick out a few moments. I wish I had time to meet the group. Some of my highlights:
* Watching the excitement of the racers during the race and throughout the parks.
* Watching Tinkerbell fly over the castle.
* Going backstage during the race.
* Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour with a visit to the Disneyland Dream Suite.

Well this was my first rundisney race. And I had tons of fun, but I hate to say I was a little disappointed in the lack of entertainment on the street portions of the course, because my expectations based on trip reports and photos from previous years. This was by far the biggest race I have ever done, and I was worried about crowding but it wasn't as bad as I feared. I don't think I will do this particular race again, as I am just not a huge fan of Tinkerbell. I am not much into merch, the only thing I wanted was the Tinkerbell shoe ornament but it was not available when I was at the expo (Friday night) Was that the preordered ornament in the runner's bundle?. How much was it? I was looking on ebay but I don't think I am willing to pay those prices. I was impressed with the photo pass and regret not getting more photos especially the rest of the day in the park, next time I will do a much better job of stopping to take photos, its seems a great value.

Loved the medal! And I felt there was great energy from other runners. I'm already thinking about doing another rundisney trip- the Light side.

Was everyone who ran the half supposed to get a purple cinch bag or were they for purchase only? I saw quite a few number of people walking around with them.

Happy Friday! Hard to believe it's all over - though I still haven't fully recovered I think (from a busy weekend, time change, and going straight back to work)!

The race was amazing - I still can't believe how good I felt overall. Seemed like things just came together.

Also loved getting to spend time with DH without the kids. A dinner out is nice, but a whole weekend away was good to reconnect.

And loved getting to see DL - fun to see the classic rides and compare rides to WDW. Sleeper hit was Hyperspace Mountain!

I just wish it weren't so crowded in the parks - we skipped a few rides that we would've liked to do. Hard to complain though - we really did more than I expected!

Another disappointment was Napa Rose chefs table- it was good, but not fabulous - and most definitely not worth the price we paid!

They were given free when you got your race shirt (I think? Or was it the bib?) I do vaguely recall the person almost forgetting to give it to me. Conversely, we got them at the finish line at PHM I think....

I also had it in my shirt bag. I almost did not notice it was in there as I have never received one during a Rundisney race, but I haven't run the Princess Half.....yet.:)

Yes, it was the preordered ornament. I was at the expo on Thursday evening and there were a lot of them hanging next to the doorway leading to check out. There must have been many people who purchased them on Friday.

Strange. There wasn't one in my gear bag and I did the Pixie Dust challenge.

Very strange. They must have missed putting one in your bag. You should have gotten one. PDC and half only runners all were supposed to receive one.
