Official Wine and Dine 2017 thread

Our FP window opened on Wednesday, DW did it for our last visit but was my turn this time, bloody hell it's like a massive jigsaw! We're hitting Epcot one morning at Rope Drop, got a FP for Frozen in the afternoon but really keen for Soarin' and Test Track too. Should we be able to get straight on these without too much wait straight from opening?

Also, does anyone know what time the Expo will open open on the Thursday? Both myself and DW love a good expo but we'll have Jnr (9) in tow with us and I'm not willing to drag her through the cattle market for an hour. So we were thinking we'd park down with a book and coffee in the Grill at WWOS and take it in turns to pick up our bibs and have a quick look at merchandise? Is this feasible? And if so, how long should we expect to be there in total?

We do Soarin' and Test Track from Rope Drop with little wait. It has worked well for us, but we beeline for the Land, and then head straight to Test Track. After that we can relax and meander and use FP for Frozen.

Our FP window opened today, fairly pleased but nada for FOP. Is the single rider line operational and if so, what kind of wait for that? I did a quick search and getting mixed results. Obviously, things could be completely different by November

My understanding is that they have yet to use the single rider line.

We didn't see one on 7/31, 8/12, or 8/13. I suspect it's not open yet. They were asking for single riders every time we rode though. They were even trying to tout the benefits of not having to ride with your family:rotfl2:

We are staying at AS Sports. Our reservation is for a preferred room. What do you all recommend for room requests?

Depends on your needs or desires??

Do you like quiet, do you want to be close to the bus stop or food court etc? Look up the map of the property on this website and you can make your choice appropriately.

I suppose since we need to be up super early for two of our mornings (and thus have to go to bed super early) quiet would probably be our #1 request. 2nd would probably be close to bus stop then food court. I look at the AS Sport thread here (https://www.disboards.com/threads/disneys-all-star-sports-resort-information-questions.1565088/) and while there was a map, it wasn't super helpful for figuring out room requests. Allears.net lists the Surfs Up buildings as the only preferred. Since those are next to the main pool, the only way to get quiet is on the back side. Also, when I go to into my MDE account and start check-in the two boxes for room request options are blank. I click on them and the only option is <select>. So I can't even see what my options are.

You can always brave the automated phone system and put in a direct request with guest services, once you get through, they always seem to be helpful. However, if you are limited to one building for preferred, then it may not make much difference. Best of luck to ya, hope your training is going well.

I guess they just aren't going to have ROL dining package after October. Been checking for a while now and never opens up on the calendar. Guess I'll settle for a fast pass.

Two months to go! - how's everyone's training going?

Wife and I are going well, we did miss one weekend due to Harvey, wasn't much getting around that but we did 90 minutes on the elliptical one day and 60 the next and I think that was a fair compromise considering the situation. Snuck them in between power outages!

Are you a touring plans member? Their room recommendations are key and they will fax your recommendation prior to your arrival for you. I've never gotten a bad room using their system. The recommendations are more specific then building and floor.

I did my fastpasses on Monday (I check in at Pop on 11/3) and managed to get Flight of Passage twice! Once Monday evening 11/6 and again Wednesday morning 11/8. And I got two Frozens. Those were my top priorities!

I'm sad Splash Mountain will be closed, but maybe they'll manage to finish refurbing it and open it early... unlikely, but I still hope so.

I'm going to Animal Kingdom multiple times on this trip, and am thinking of completely skipping Hollywood Studios. I usually never skip a park but honestly... Hollywood Studios seems like it's a major construction zone! And I love Animal Kingdom. Looking forward to seeing AK at night again; I used to LOVE the Expedition Everest Challenge (and especially post-race party) because AK at night is so pretty!

Hi friends! I am planning and preparing for the 10K again this year and have to ask what your thoughts are on the course?? Last year we started in the Epcot lot and wove around and through the park. I had a really good experience and thoroughly enjoyed last year's 10K! This year, the start is in the MK parking lot. I'm thinking this will be a long stretch of road all the way to Epcot, and I have to admit I'm not looking forward to that. Give me some positives!!

Positives - assuming it's the same as the Star Wars 10K, whichit prob is, the starting area seemed more convenient than ESPN. (Translation- less bus drivers got lost). Starting in the dark and I some dark areas opened up some pretty spiffy visuals. I doubt they'll do the laser show/fight, but we can hope. The middle/end is good, in my opinion. Once you see where you're ending, you are nearly there. (Albeit uphill before you get there)

Hoping for the Dark Side 10k route at well. First 3 miles (ish) until you get to Studios will be in the dark, but the the finish is all Disney. I'm hoping for the DS 1/2 route as well. :)
