2017 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival: August 31, 2017 - November 13, 2017

I saw this information posted on WDWNT, thought it was interesting regarding the cost of the marketplace menu items:

  • Ordering one of every item at each booth will cost you $1,324.05 plus tax
  • Ordering one item from every booth will cost a minimum of $137.50 plus tax

I was at food & wine today and got the scotch egg at the Craft Beer booth at Odyssey and was expecting the usual type of scotch egg. However my egg didn’t have any egg white and in it’s place was what looked and tasted like thinly sliced turkey. And then the ground sausage on the outside. Has anyone else experienced this? I was a little surprised.

We will be there at the very end of F&W for a quick trip, Nov 8-11. My kids loved doing the egg hunt during F&G and are looking forward to Remy's scavenger hunt. Do they typically run out of the maps by the last weekend? I know I've read that passports are hard to come by towards the end. I was wondering if the same was true for the maps.
Thanks!

I have a question I wonder if anyone can answer? Will be heading down to food and wine next week and we're on the Disney dining plan has anybody had any luck converting quick service credit into three food items at the same booth, like previously years?
I did this last year at the Canada Booth. 1 QS credit = 3 filet mignon. I had a leftover QS credit at the end of my vacation so thought that was a great use. I had no problem last year but have read on the Boards that others have had mixed success. Haven't read of anyone doing it this year.

We are going to a PFTS this year for the first time. Yay! Would someone that has been to one be willing to explain what goes on and the timing of the night. We did the wine view lounge as well. I mean we can't just eat tapas all right ? Do we meet the chefs? What type of entertainment is there? Any info would be helpful as the website is pretty vague. TIA

Here is a review for PFTS Wine View Lounge from 2016:

https://www.disboards.com/threads/r...enses-wine-view-lounge.3558046/#post-56695002

I have never done the wine view lounge but I have done PFTS several time.

Wine View Lounge seating says check-in is 7:15pm but I always seem to remember check-in is earlier and that is when they let you into the event. Of course this has always been when Epcot closed at 9:30pm so that is when the event ended - Epcot closes at 10pm now on party nights so times might be different. I will be interested to see reports from those attending the first few events.

Included with the event is reserved seating for Eat to the Beat concert so you would have to check the times for those - we never attend these. Once you check-in at the World ShowPlace Pavilion you will be let in at the time designated for your seating and shown to your table(WVL & Reserved). You can eat tapas all night and become very full and tipsy if you enjoy the wine - I call PFTS the food booths on steroids. There will be multi sections with stations with a couple of different food and wine selections - most of the food for PFTS is cooked as needed so you can see them making many of the items. If the chefs are around, there is a chance you might meet them and you can also talk to representatives for the the wineries. Two years ago La Nabu was the entertainment but not sure what they are doing now. Personally, I am so busy eating and talking with the friends at our table I usually don't even realize the entertainment is going on.

First day of F&W for me, I drove for 7 1/2 hours and got to my resort around 2, room ready so got to the park around 3. Went to the festival center and picked up my AP button and signed up for a vodka tasting then off to the booths. Started with Zesty Cheeseburger and Cheddar Cheese Macaroni Handwich at Epcot Legacy Showplace

I had not eaten all day so scarfed that puppy down. It was o.k. I didn't really see a whole lot of meat in it and only took a couple of bites out of the bread part, it was kind of chewy so I threw it out. I would get this again. Then I moved on to Thailand where I had the Marinated Chicken

This had a peanut sauce and stir fried vegetables. I liked the vegetables and the chicken was pretty good, I got a few tough pieces but for the most part it was pretty good. I ate about 3/4 of it. Then next door to Greece where I got Bougatsa and a glass of Domaine Skouras Moscofilero

This was sort of a baklava with pudding inside and sprinkled with powder sugar and cin. I liked it but you can't go wrong with baklava in my book. The wine was semi sweet, which went nice with the dessert. From there I went to the Light Lab and got Founders Brewing Company Green zebra Watermelon Gose Ale

This was kind of tart, not bad I drank about 3/4 of it. Then it was hop on SSE and on to the Festival Center for my vodka tasting.

Vodka Tasting. I'm not a huge fan of straight vodka but thought what the heck, let's try. The woman giving the presentation was rep. from the vodka brand, she knew her stuff, gave a little slide show presentation first then it was taste the vodka. We got all sorts of things like it should be a creamy finish and you should taste this note and that note and you sniff it first then sip it and hold it in your mouth and breath through your nose. The woman sitting next to me and myself both decided we didn't have very good pallettes because the first two tasted like rubbing alcohol to both of us. I was able to sip the entire glass of the third one (most expensive).

I think I do better with wines but it was fun. Then off to a couple more booths and to watch a few songs by Sister Hazel.

After my vodka tasking I wandered around world showcase and made my way to America where I stopped at Hops & Barley and got the Smoked Beef Brisket and Pimento Cheese

I have mixed feelings about this one. I'm a Georgia girl and we do pork so beef is a little weird for me. I thought the beef itself was pretty good, the pimento cheese was just a tiny little spread on the bread which was below the beef so I didn't really taste it at all, which was a shame cause I love me some pimento cheese. I didn't like the bread, it was tough and chewy at the same time. I sat and watched Sister Hazel for awhile. By this point I had hit a wall, I was tired from driving all day then walking around in the heat so I started heading out via Great Britain and Canada and decided to stop at Scotland and got Fresh Potatoe Pancake with smoked salmon and sour cream and Scottish Ale.

Let me say up front I don't like smoked salmon but I was trying different stuff this year. Normally I get the tipsy laird but let's live dangerously. I ate at least half of the salmon, I smeared it real well with the sour cream and took a bite of pancake with it so didn't really get that much salmon taste. It was a little tough and I didn't grab a knife so I had to kind of saw it with my fork then pull it apart with my fingers. I did finish all the pancake, which frankly without the salmon didn't have much taste. My least favorite dish of the day. The ale was ale, I drank about half of it and headed out. All together, without the vodka seminar, I spent around $38. That was for all my meals today since I hadn't eaten before I got here so $38 for lunch and supper isn't bad.

Didn't know you were a Georgia girl! You must live about an hour from us judging on your drive time. I'm near downtown Atlanta.

It was o.k. I didn't really see a whole lot of meat in it and only took a couple of bites out of the bread part, it was kind of chewy so I threw it out. I would get this again.
Interesting. Yours looks whiter (the filling part) than ours was, I wonder if they are working on the recipe as time goes on because ours seemed to have a fair amount of ground beef. Totally agree about the cone.

I thought the beef itself was pretty good, the pimento cheese was just a tiny little spread on the bread which was below the beef so I didn't really taste it at all, which was a shame cause I love me some pimento cheese. I

My exact same critique from last year - didn't get your entire quote on my phone (grrr mobile browser) but I had the same issue with not enough cheese and chewy Texas toast. I think we all know that if Zaxbys can do fresh Texas toast, Disney ought to be able to do the same. I think they just pre-make these way too early.

Thanks for your reviews!

Basically yes you are eating tapas all night. Meeting the chefs is much easier later in the night, at opening they are very busy. It's a lot easier to talk to the wine reps.

For the wine view Lounge they escort you to your table staring 7:15 or so. I generally check in about 7. Entertainment last year varied by weekend. (They finally threw La Nouba off stage, they had done the EXACT SAME show for years).

I didn't really see a whole lot of meat in it and only took a couple of bites out of the bread part, it was kind of chewy so I threw it out.
Ours did have a decent amount of meat even though the pic doesn't show it - it was yummy and very filling. "Zesty Cheeseburger and Cheddar Cheese Macaroni Handwich"

You really need to share the dishes if you want to try many things, even though most of them initially look small. By the 8th or 9th dish, 1/2 is more than enough!

Another Georgia girl here, I also am 7 1/2 hours away. About 60 miles south of Atlanta.

Thanks for sharing your experiences with us. We will be there in a few days after Universal...I can't wait.
