Pop Century Room Renovations

I have been a member of TP for 10 years and have used their fax request on numerous occasions without once getting the room I requested or anywhere near it. If you could please let me know what you say in your request to get a room at least close to what you want. I know there is never a guarantee for a specific room but mine haven't even been in the same building.

Thanks for your help!

I keep my request very simple so that they don't have a lot to read. Requested a refurbished room in 70’s section. Non-connecting. We’ll see how it goes this time. We arrive in 10 days!

Have been here for 3 days. So far, no film of black dust covering our floors as reported by some other posters. Read elsewhere that Disney was planning on installing shampoo and soap dispensers in the bathroom and do away with the small bottles- this has not been done in my room so far, although I guess they could do it one afternoon while we are out at the parks. Speaking of the bathroom, we have a tub and shower. Haven't taken a bath, but the option to use the handheld showerhead or the rainfall showerhead is awesome.

First time at Pop for me, so I don't know what the non refurbished room doors were like. These doors to the renovated rooms weigh a TON. Not sure if this is due to fire code or something else, but these are heavy - be sure not to get your fingers slammed on.

Also, make sure the Murphy bed is down before anyone goes to sleep. The one in our room squeals like an alley cat as you are pulling it down to the flat position. Perhaps a touch of oil on the hinges would do quite nicely.

Coffee quality isn't great, but nice to have a cup of something available first thing in the morning. Fridge cools our drinks down without a problem.

Other than some misleading information received from the front desk regarding the bus schedules, we haven't encountered an issue with the buses. Made rope drop yesterday, made it to our PPO ADR this morning without any issue. Even though the bus stop was packed full after HEA at the MK this evening (as to be expected), they had buses coming every couple minutes. We were back at our hotel room by 9:45 pm, and we spent at least 15-20 minutes after the show browsing in the stores on Main St.

Room and resort has been pretty quiet. On the top floor and we haven't heard a lot of noise from the neighboring rooms. A fair number of BTG spotted in the food court and at the bus stops, but noise volume hasn't been a problem.

Love the new rooms. Looking to book the BB offer before we check out on Saturday!

The doors to the rooms were not changed. You are quite right that they are heavy, always have been. Like you, not sure if it's fire code or something but caution with fingers is correct!

I don't think they'll be any refurbished rooms ready in the 60's in 10 days.

Oops! Thanks for catching that! We requested Building 6 in the 70's section. I'll go back an update my response. The 60's section is our normal request so I fell back into old habits. :)

Definitely very heavy doors. I've nearly squashed my fingers numerous times and almost dropped my refillable mug full of hot coffee all over myself once while opening the door. I always seem to forget just how heavy they are until I almost hurt myself. I just chalk it up to extreme clumsiness and try to be extra cautious

This will be my first trip when I'm not trying to maneuver a stroller through those doors. Not going to miss that!!

Let's talk laundry...can I buy detergent and dryer sheets there? (I'm assuming yes, but you never know). And are they in a coin-operated machine right with the washers/dryers?

Not sure about detergent, I'm just going to bring some in a ziploc, but someone posted that all laundry is card operated now, no more coins.

I'll have to remember this and the sharp bed corners for our trip since our 9 yo niece will be with us.

Yes I'm dreading those bed corners. I know it'll be me that whacks my leg on them!
I was the one who walked into the bed over and over again. DS10 didn't hit his shin a single time!

When we go in and out of the room I always say "hands up" and DS knows to throw his hands wildly into the air before I will close the door. It's silly but an effective way to not squash fingers lol

Good idea. No one needs squashed fingers!

Academy Sports. Suction cup Warning flag ..... attach to bed corners.
