I think you have to have a way where others cannot screw up the experience for you. Maybe not as obvious as mission space where autopilot takes over but I think you have to have that. Who wants to wait in line an hour, get one **** at a simular and get a "sorry - you died" type ending that is outside of their control?

My thinking is more of a choose your own adventure type approach. Your actions (and others) affect what direction the story goes but all the different endings are still positive type endings just different so everybody leaves with a good feeling about the ride. Could have something like if you shoot down 1-3 tie fighter story does direction A, 4-6 and it goes direction B but none of them result in your getting destroyed or failing your mission you just have to do different things if you don't shoot down enough fighters. Kinda like a star tours but instead of scene A to scene B being random, what scene B you get is based on the actions of the crew which then lead to diferent scene Cs and so on.

This is inline with my expectations also. There is a floor to each "job". Let's face it, you can't be an interactive character in the land if your pilot killed you in a crash on your first ride of the day. I'm also guessing you get helped in your job. So if one position is pilot, and one is gunner, the computer may give you a rough landing if the pilot is a 3 year old going crazy, but not a complete crash. If the gunner is a 90 year old with cataracts, just the act of firing the gun will get your group some points and a destroyed tie, but perhaps not the super job someone else will get.

Disney isn't going to let one person ruin the experience for 6.

Also wondering if they could employ some of that "fear detection" technology and make things easier or harder based on the performance of an individual - so if they can tell the pilot has no idea what he/she is doing, make that part easier ... but if the gunner is really good make that a bit harder (but increase the "reward" potential).

That seems complicated. I'm guessing it is just done by scoring. People get massive scores on Buzz and TSMM and Test Track. Mostly people that have done it a million times. The first time guest through usually stinks. But just about everyone gets off laughing. And that is what Disney really wants. There is no reason to make it adaptive to the person doing it in the way you are pointing out. I will say, the easier way to make it adaptive is simply to make it harder. If you shoot down 2 ties, the 3rd one is harder. If you get 4, the fifth gets much harder. If you are smooth in your flight controls, the debris tossed in front of you gets a little bit more challenging, etc. You can make it progressive simply by how people are actually doing without trying to read their emotional state. I bet it'd be more accurate also.

Pretty much. The ride has to account for somebody who doesn't want to do anything and just wants to sit and ride. I've seen that many times on mission space. That is your floor and maybe in that case R2 or sometbody steps in and helps save the say so things are still ultimately successful even if you don't get the "best" ending you still get a success.

Disney Food Blog is announcing WDW’s Star Wars: Galexy’s Edge will be opening late fall 2019.

Is this the first Rumor we’ve had of an actual time fame? Timing doesn’t surprise me, just hadn’t heard it officially announced before.

Possibly I’m just slow on the uptake and this isn’t new news to others?

This is big news. If Dec, Jan, and Feb are considered ‘Winter Months’ can we hope for a November opening date?

I’ll be looking to take a Sept 2019 trip then will let the Star Wars fans enjoy it first. I don’t mind waiting for a while then enjoying it after the first crowds go. Probably will look at a Sept 2020 trip but still expecting crowds to be huge at that time.

We will be there first week of December 2019, so fingers crossed (and totally looking forward to the insanity LOL)!

you know they'll do a Galactic Nights there on opening weekend of Episode 9, the weekend before Christmas. I so need tickets to that one

So by late fall, I will be assuming thanksgiving... Ah poop my trip finishes next year on the 3rd November so I doubt I'll get to see it...

Don't worry I will bide my time until the 50th Anniversary and have Star Wars fun then - and hopefully with the opening of all the new things for the anniversary I might be able to get on the Star Wars rides. When the big crowds are at something newer and shinier.

Our Annual Passes will expire on November 24, 2019, the Sunday after Thanksgiving, so unless we aim for a Thanksgiving trip (doubtful) we'll probably miss out.

I am in the same boat. going to have an AP that expires Nov. 10,2019.

My guess is I will probably just miss out, which may convince me to not get the AP as planned.

What is late fall? Technically it could be mid December, but most people consider most of December to be winter. Disney starts "fall" at the end of August with Halloween parties and Food and Wine festivals ...... so?

Alright!

We'll be there in May 2020!!!

Then 2022 to see everything else that opens after that! :)

I am leaning towards late fall being after Thanksgiving. If I use the Toy Story land announcement to scheduled opening date (~4.5 months), I would guess that we should get an opening date announcement at WDW about July 16, 2019?
