*** The Official August 2019 thread ***

Need all the help i can get.
Will be staying at PoP August 11th to tge 17th. Plans so far are .... well.. not sure right at the moment as its a first trip for 3 in our party. Our party consists of Me (I was there over 15 years ago but was not involved in the planning and just went with the flow) my husband who has never been.. our 15yr old son never been and our 9yr old granddaughter also never been... we have 4 day park hopper tickets and planning on MNSSHP on the 16th. My husband is not one who likes to have everything planned out so im doing this all on my own. I'll read over this thread but without making this super long im trying to figure out days and not make this packed of full fledged hard core planed down to the minute. Im getting close to ADR but how do you plan those when your not sure what parks have what for fireworks and all that. We are driving so will not be getting there till mid day on the 11th. Im not one for trying to rush to the park on arrival day. Or last day park day... thank you all in advance for all helpful tips and advice

MK you can see fireworks there every night, EXCEPT . . . if it is a party night, and you aren't staying for the party.
Epcot runs Illuminations every night at 9:00
Animal Kingdom has Rivers of Light (no fireworks, just lights / projection screens) every night
DHS has the Star Wars fireworks every night in addition to Fantasmic which I believe will show nightly during August.

Typically, I pick what park I will go to on what day based on EMH schedules, and party schedules. I won't go to MK on a party day unless I am going to the party. I won't go to a park that has EMH unless I am planning on attending the EMH. The good news is you still have a week to figure it out, ADR's on the 12th for you.

Oh, and we will keep an eye out for you at MNSSHP on the 16th, as we intend to be there too :)

Hi There, it's been awhile since I popped on here but I'm wondering if anyone has August hours yet? They aren't on the Disney website (unless I'm missing them) and I have to make dining reservations on the 18th!!! I need to know hours!!!

They are out for exactly 180 days from today, so while its not perfect its something. You need to go to the most recent day you can select and then go to 5 day view and you can see a few more days... but you probably will not be able to see length of stay... you can check touring plans if you have a subscription, or another planning site they wont be perrfect but you can also assume last year is close and give you an idea.

Remember hours will change 3-8 weeks before we arrive anyway!

Awesome thank you. Hope to meet ya also. I think we are gonna do it like this
Animal kingdom on the 12th
Mk on the 13th
Epcot 14th
Hollywood 15th
Then MNSSHP the 16th.

But that all depends on extra hours too. Of course breaks for pool time and dinner if we decided on a different location if we are not in that park on that day. Tonight im gonna sit n make my final lust of where i really want to eat and i guess wing it on the rest. Lol..

You can currently see hours through the 5th of August, however, even those hours don't really mean much, they will change, probably a few weeks out. What we do is look at the days of the week that EMH, and EMM are scheduled. They are likely to continue on the same days of the week. That should give you a good idea as to what parks to go to, or avoid, based on whether you are using EMH, or not. MNSSHP dates are out, so you will know what days MK will be closing early. That should be enough to allow you to chose which parks you will visit on which days, and make your dining reservations. Assume that MK park hours will run at least until 10 PM in August. There is some possibility that hours for DHS and AK will be extended a bit as well, but generally, EMH will not change days.

On the 12th we will be in Epcot. The 13th, we will also be in MK, and I'm anticipating that there *may* be EMM that morning. The 14th is a non park day for us, the 15th is AK, and then we will be in MK on the 16th, and staying for the party.

Okay, I'm officially joining the August Disney trip group. Was planning on September but had to change it so now we are officially booked for August 3rd-10th at Wilderness Lodge. This was going to be a combo 25th anniversary trip and a birthday trip but since we will now be there 5 weeks before my birthday I will just call it our anniversary trip. It's just Hubby and I. It's our first trip with just the two of us since our honeymoon.
Our anniversary is actually May 28th but our youngest graduates high school just a few days before that so we are doing it later in the year. We actually have a busy year so I'm happy we are still getting to have our trip. Our oldest just graduated college in December and got married in January, our youngest graduates High school in May and our middle (and only daughter) is getting married November 1st. We also have a cruise the last week in March for our youngest Senior trip. Not Disney, but at least it's a much needed vacation with some great friends. Anyway, wanted to stop by and officially join.

Wow, that does indeed sound like a busy schedule! Welcome aboard. You have been added to the August Roll Call.

For those waiting to book in the next few days: I was able to get all the restaurants I wanted, but not always the best times I wanted. We were hoping to do the new Storybook Dining at Artist Point for our arrival day, and we were stuck choosing between 4pm or 7:50pm. We had the same choices in time for Cinderella's Royal Table a couple days later. So, I think there's an impact on availability from free dining, but it could be worse!

Edit/Update: Woohoo! Got it switched to 4:30pm. That's a bit better than 4pm!

How many in your group? I’m worried for sure, storybook is on day 3 and CRT I think day 5

On the plus side, early ADRs are nice because they aren't running behind yet. I am just going to assume I'm getting all 4pm ADRs and hope to be pleasantly surprised lol

Hey all, I purchased our child ticket using airmiles as I had some left over. We received a card (like a visa card) that says Exchange Certificate. It says on the card to redeem at one of the ticket sale locations at the theme parks. I was hoping for an actual ticket, but oh well. So if that is the case, how am I supposed to select my FP+ times 60 days in advance? Or am I out of luck. I wish I had of checked this before I purchased it, I never use airmiles for anything so thought it was a good way to save some money, but now I may be regretting it :(.

In addition, the ticket is a base ticket, anyone know if I can upgrade this one to Park Hopper and pay the difference, I haven't purchased our two Adult tickets yet as I am unsure how to use this certificate right now.

thanks for any help

Four for now! We're doing a split stay, so I have to start booking more ADRs on Sunday, this time for 6 people! Good luck! I'm sure you'll be able to get the days and meals you want, but specific times might be a little iffy!

I was ale to make ADRs the day I changed our reservation dates but have been tweaking them every since. I did score a 5:35 time for Storybook Dining but I may cancel it. The menu doesn't really appeal to me but I really think it will be a great experience so I may just hang on to it.

You should confirm what I say in the ticket bored. But I believe you can’t make FP with out the ticket, but you can upgrade to a park hopper.

Do you potentially have another trip you can use the ticket for? Redeem now use later?

We did this dining experience just a few weeks ago and it was so worth it! The characters are awesome and the food was delicious. The appetizers were very good, I had the Veal Shank and it was so tender and flavorful. My sister had the fish and the lemon tones with the delicious fish and risotto was so good. My daughter had the vegetarian dish of the gnocchi and this also was delicious. We loved the desserts. It was a win all the way around. Unless it completely changes by August, I would try it!

Thanks. I will probably keep it especially since we are staying at WL anyways so it would be convenient when we take a midday break. We can just head back out after eating supper that day.

We are going on Aug 3-10 and I scheduled a PPO BOG reservation for Aug 4th but now found out it is the date of EMM at MK. Should I cancel the reservation? Is it now useless to be pre park opening? And is the EMM worth the $300 for us to ride the fantasyland rides? I can't decide but it is a lot of extra money! Can someone give me some advice please?
Thank you!
