I love credit cards so much! v2.0 (see first page for add'l details)

After a 10 day agonizing wait on my Jet blue Business card application (applied on May 2), I'm finally approved! I love using true blue points to get to Orlando from Newark! I will be cancelling the personal card in a few weeks.

My application went pending so I finally called recon this morning and answered a few basic questions about my "business". Easy Peasy 60,000 True blue points after $1,000 spend and one use on my husband's "employee" card.

Congrats.....I have also been approved for this card this morning after a 10 day wait....didn't call though, just let it sit and received the approval email this morning. Thats a nice boost to our JetBlue balance as P2 also got this card recently. Can't wait for JetBlue to start their Europe flights in the next couple years.

I think this may have to be my next card! I am locked out of Chase for 2 months and use JetBlue all the time. I have 8 roundtrip tickets I need to book this year so 60,000 with good deals will come in handy.

I've never had any Barclays card ever so I will need to do my research. The enhanced 60,000 offer is too hard to pass up.

Loving all these side businesses! I don't have anything that creative...guess I'm boring too, haha.

I do well with selling DD's clothing on ebay, especially her Janie and Jack stuff. It is expensive, but has great resale value. I will even buy her Janie and Jack holiday dresses new with tags on ebay, and turn around and sell it back the next season for sometimes more than I paid.

I also sell her toys and baby things she's outgrown to a local consignment shop that pays upfront.

FOOD at WDW for 5 days for a family of four, 2 adults and two kids (6 and 4):

Paying for food with Disney gift cards since AA wont let me get a dining plan. I have acquired $800 as of now. Think I will need more? What do you guys spend?

Man, I don't know what some of you eat. lol We did 6 days 2 adults 2 teenagers and spent $736.10. That is with Crystal Palace Breakfast, Via Napoli and the ESPN place for sit downs.

ETA We did spend $45 on Amazon Now for bottled water and breakfast type items.

The JB Biz also comes with the 10% miles back on award flights so stretches those points a little further. Don't know how long this will last though now that AA have done away with that offer.

Hopefully Amex MR will come up with another JetBlue transfer bonus soon.

Yay for Chase Tuesdays.
SUBs for both CIPs are pending.
Referral points for both CIPs are posted now.
DHs $300 checking bonus is pending.

Yesterday I drug him over to the local Chase branch to put in the last $5k for the savings account (plus all of his other checks he's been carrying around :sad2:). I noticed that the two $5k mobile deposits I did last week had the fund on hold, some until today, some tomorrow... so yesterday he puts in about $8.5k with everything and the receipt prints and the teller is like... uh since it's a new account, it doesn't know your normal activity... some is on hold until 5/18 and some 5/23... is that okay? :rotfl: Anyways, DH has an email from Chase saying the $15k had to go in by today and his balance shows the full $18k as of yesterday (even though all but $300 of it is on hold) so I have screenshotted with date and time and will fight for the other $300 ($200 plus xt $100 for doing both accounts).

The only things have I sold on eBay were my duplicate AP Disney Magnets. I’m not sure that’s worth my time though anymore lol.
But you do have me wondering if it's worth sending some of our FOUR Christmas magnets they gave us last year out there...

Well, DS probably got some of his soccer interest from me (I watched US pro soccer in the 80’s, minimal as it was) though he is more interested than I ever was. Plus we joke he will be a sports announcer some day as he does play by play whenever he is watching hockey, soccer or football. Even if I’m not watching I hear his chatter and he knows all the stats which he likes to recite during car rides.

Sounds like my oldest son. After two broken wrists he gave up his plans to play pro soccer sadly. I had him involved with DCUnited until we moved and it kind of changed things since there's not an MLS team around here (yet). So the wrists and the loss of DCU being down the street kind of made him lose hope I think. He was great with stats and commentary and I really thought that would be a great career for him. He floundered for about a year and a half and now is a soldier. I miss soccer (youth) so much. My oldest was a figure skater and being an ice mom wasn't too bad, my youngest is softball and it's filling up my time, but I enjoyed soccer mom the most probably because I spent so many years at it. He truly lived and breathed soccer.

We hit the spend for Dh’s CIP #2 last week and I’m not seeing the SUB pending yet. Do you think it’ll be on the next statement?

Ok - I’ll go first.

My current biz apps are based on my ultra successful travel consulting business. ;) Primarily, I provide people with customized advice on how to cover their travel through CC rewards. Revenue was decent last year as Chase and Amex both sent me 1099s for my efforts, LOL! I’ve previously used my wife’s cookie business also.

Other potential businesses for me:
  • Musician: I got paid to play piano at a wedding last year.
  • Personal shopper: I bought some things for my parents to meet MSRs - they reimbursed me but I generated an income on this by combining Ebates and gift card deals to pay for the stuff.
  • Gift card re-seller: as can happen at times as a churner; I had to sell some gift cards.
Interested to see what else people might share here!

I'm a legit web developer so that's what I use. I've also started selling on Poshmark so could use that if I wanted.

P2 uses consulting currently. He is my hardware tech support haha and many others will call on him when they need help so he may not actually get paid most times, but he does get consulted often. He's now trying to get an online drop shipping business off the ground so we have to fall back on as well.

DD1 could use house-sitter since I leave her in charge of the cats/house when we head off for a weekend of softball. Her pay is free rent though.

(I'll sit here and painfully consider this, and then when I go to apply I guarantee you I get the popup, lol!)
This is probably 50% of the reason I've procrastinated app'ing for an AMEX Plat for DH.

It's not under pending URs on the UR page? I met ours on 5/6 and 5/7

I'm with @speedyfishy , we spend (and apparently eat) a lot when at WDW! There's so many good things! I don't really eat in the room either.

See posts a few pages back where I legit detest going out to eat. Worst part of vacation is that we have to go out so many times. Ughhh I seriously would rather eat a bucket of popcorn than sit and eat anywhere. But DH insists on meals, dang it, lol. So that spending is with actual meals. We don't drink soda, so I guess that can add a lot if other people drink that at every meal. And while I do drink alcohol I am seriously too cheap to buy at Disney. DH probably had a beer at ESPN while we watched the World Cup, I may have also, but don't remember, but that would have been only alcohol all week. My friend asked if we drank around Epcot and I am like, um do you know me at all?? lol I just could not spend that much money on that. And I don't drink THAT much! Most quick service I get kids meals too, but the rest would have bought regular meals.

First birthday parties are totally overrated...I'd just send a postcard... :rotfl2:
:rotfl: I mean, we're close and all and I feel like they'll be a bit offended if I tell them we're going to Disney again lol. I believe they judge us for our travel - I think that they believe we stay with ILs and blow all of our money on travel, vs what we really do (using cc points and socking away lots of cash for a down payment while we house hunt/debate moving). That's okay, I don't care any more (but I will admit I will silently/not to their face judge a teeny bit over some of their housing decisions)

Ok, I know it's not nice to be judg-y and most of the time I really don't care. But these are the ones that bought the badly flipped house and then have been spending money like crazy remodeling things... things that don't need done or they don't know what they're doing and thus spend even more because they mess up (on top of the flippers messing things up) and they just keep telling us they are building equity so when they sell this 2400sqft starter house in 2 years or so they will make all that back and more. I didn't even grow up in a 2400sqft house! 4 people, 2300sqft ranch with finished basement, back yard with pool, and we were LITERALLY never out of room, even if my sister and I each had friends over we could be in different areas.

Anyways this all mainly comes down to, stop judging us for our travel habits that you don't understand/don't really know about, and I will stop being judg-y that you bought a $2200 fridge on a whim because you didn't like the one that the flippers put in your house, and it's still in your dining room 3 months later because you didn't do your homework and the new fridge will not fit in that space until you move the outlet from the side to behind the fridge... and meanwhile you are spending more money $$$ to add curb appeal to the house (and I just don't understand this project and can't envision it) when you could have gone and bought some plants and given actual curb appeal for a few hundred bucks.

Mentioned here:
For those who don't care about poorly flipped houses, so they can easily skip this

This whole thing just makes me so angry and rant-y, not only because DH and I would prefer doing the work/updates ourselves, but also for the people who run into problems down the line because the people who flipped their house did a terrible job. My cousin and his wife are like the poster children for this so far.

Here's the gap along the back of the counter. It's tile all the way up so I don't know what they can do, other than maybe a big line of caulking to fill it. It's because the old counter was actually to big, so the people CUT THE DRYWALL OUT. That is not right guys!! And they even cut a couple studs to force it to fit! :furious:

Cabinet doesn't line up with soffet. This is an old one, so the new cabinet here doesn't stick out in front of the one to the right, they line up now. But that means that not only does the cabinet still not line up under the soffet, the soffet now sticks out like 8in past the top of the cabinet.

And their baseboard is all crazy. This would drive me completely nuts, personally, but they've never brought it up and I'm not mentioning since it's just a cosmetic thing. But their house has A LOT of stairs, like kind of an excessive amount. And the baseboards don't match, like most is just rectangular (honestly I didn't know you could buy it like that, I kind of thought the flippers just painted their own boards and stuck them on there...) but there is some that has the rounded top. And it's not cut to the stairs (I've only seen it run at an angle up the stairs, or just no baseboard). But most of all it's not done all the same on all the stairs! And since there are a lot of stairs and they are close together, I think it makes it even more noticeable.

That's good, and paining isn't bad.

Actually the counter could be half blamed on the flippers... they didnt install it correctly so it didnt come off like it should have. But bc my cousin didnt know what they were doing... they just kept yanking on it instead of investigating why it wasn't coming up so they broke it. $1700. They expected $3k for cabinets and that's it. $2k to $3k of unexpected crap they found plus the new counter. While the new cabinets and counter look nice, they also look exactly the same because they are the same style cabinets, painted white, almost the same countertop color/pattern... but now there is a gap in the drywall between the countertop and tile backsplash from the old counter being put in wrong. Imagine if you just had a gap along the back of counter and could wipe all crumbs in, how handy to clean :crazy2: I dont know what they're going to do about that. If it was me I'd lose a bunch of crap down there! Also the soffet has a gap and doesnt line up with the cabinet. For all their work and money and heartache they got the equivalent of one cabinet and one drawer of space...

I love going out to eat. Waiting for quick service and then struggling to get a table ugh. I’m like you though I very rarely spend money on drinks.

lol, I can't wait to drink at Epcot! I don't drink soda either but a nice margarita from La Cava del Tequila, yum!
I love going out to eat in general.
It's your vacation and you get to spend it however you want (well, unless your DH makes you do something different, lol). But no judging from me here!

I like to look at the menus on Allears and gauge the prices there. You'll probably spend more than you think!

We just got back from a Saturday to Saturday stay and we spent about $1200 on food. That was for 2 adults and 2 kids (6 and 3). For table service we had: Snow White dinner, Teppan Edo, Bon Voyage Breakfast, Ale & Compass lounge, Jungle Skipper Canteen, Spice Road Table. We did a few quick service lunches/dinners, a refillable popcorn bucket, and a few dole whips. We ordered groceries from Amazon Prime Now and had most breakfasts in the room, and a couple of lunches in the room as well.

ETA: I forgot we also had dinner at 50's Prime Time.
This is perfect, thank you. Very similar to how we will be doing it.

Tell them you already have plans you can't change. The 1st bday party is for the adults anyway not the kid. And if they do like they are to their house it'll be more than it should be. I also think smash cakes are stupid and a waste of perfectly good cake and the pictures aren't cute. Just give them a piece of cake and you'll get the same result but maybe the kid won't need a bath mid party.
