This law regulates a procedure and that is as far as I'm going to go on the subject on this board.

I can respect your opinion on why you see yourself as a feminist. Maybe you should try to show the same respect to those who don't see themselves as one.

I’m overtired so I can’t guess what procedure you’re taking about. Is it the V one?

Even if it’s regulated, it won’t end a guy up in jail if he decides he wants to have the procedure.

Anyway, I know I don’t want points for continuing down this path, and I assume you don’t either so, let’s just leave this here.

If someone wants to call themselves a feminist or not is completely up to them. No skin off my nose.

If men could get pregnant they would never have created that law.

:rolleyes2 Oh brother... The fact is men can't get pregnant, so it's a hypothetical that to me has no real value. However IMO that's a silly statement.

I'll go on record as saying having watched DW go through pregnancy twice, including a set of twins who were born at 40 weeks and weighed over 7lbs each, I have an amazing amount of respect for what women go through. It takes more toughness than most men have...probably me included.

Well, there have been numerous supposed pro-life politicians that have been exposed for paying for their mistresses abortions or pressuring women to have abortions.

Wait, I thought you said if men could become pregnant it wouldn't be a law.
Now its so that they can force their mistresses to have abortions?

I know what feminism is. I was just being a little facetious, I suppose, & I'm sorry if I offended anyone.

Like I said, I do believe in & support equal rights for men & women. Feminism is "the advocacy of women's rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes." So, yes, of course!

However, I don't consider myself a feminist by the current popular standard. And I really don't like all the men-bashing that sometimes occurs.

What's your stand on misogyny?

I voted "other," but, while I do believe in equal rights for men & women, I do not consider myself a feminist as it is defined by current popular standard.

I always did, but I don't relate to some of the more recent definitions or examples of it, i.e. radical feminism.

So maybe I'd be an Other.

I also voted <other> for the same reasons. I consider myself an "equalist" not a "feminist".

What is the "modern" definition of feminism that people are referring to?

It's like Wendy said:

...However, I don't consider myself a feminist by the current popular standard. And I really don't like all the men-bashing that sometimes occurs.

A lot of people currently using the term "feminist" to label themselves are really "anti-male". And yes, I know that wasn't the original definition. - But language evolves, and I don't want to be associated with a group that says women are better than men any more then I want to be part of one that says men are better than women.

As I understand it, being a feminist means I support equal rights for men and women. With that understanding, I'm completely baffled as to why anyone wouldn't be one. Seriously. And, it's also clear to me that women DO NOT have equal rights with men at the present time. Sadly, people have forgotten how far women have come in the last 100 years. Sadder still is that we have a long ways to go.

No, they're still voting against abortion. It's just that whenever a pregnancy inconveniences them it's suddenly OK to abort it.

OK, but I'm not really sure where this fits in your assertion that if men could get pregnant there wouldn't be such a law. You implied the only reason this law was made was because those who drafted it were men. You discounted what their reasons are for the law based on some cheating hypocrites that happen to share the same gender?
What do you suppose would happen to someone who posted that about women in general?

Fact is there are hypocritical politicians throughout history that use their power for their own gain and benefit when it suits them. I'm not going to argue that. However that isn't the subject you started off with here.

You do realize that statistically men and women aren't that different in their feelings on abortion? Just a couple percentage points.

Well, there have been numerous supposed pro-life politicians that have been exposed for paying for their mistresses abortions or pressuring women to have abortions.

Likewise, there are women who get an abortion despite the pleas by the father not to, on both sides of the political aisle.

No, they're still voting against abortion. It's just that whenever a pregnancy inconveniences them it's suddenly OK to abort it.

And there are some Pro-choicers who have seen the procedures being performed and completely changed their stance. People change their opinions on things based on their own experiences, and yes, sometimes people don't live up to what they advocate, especially in the political sphere... Still, that doesn't necessarily mean that if women alone decided on the laws that they would be any different, as it seems like you are insinuating.

Can you list some RIGHTS that men have that women do not?
