Thank you! Those are really good tips. My car has a small tank so it’ll be fun keeping it at 3/4 lol. I didn’t think to freeze milk and bread so I’ll have to get some next week to throw in the freezer. We did buy two 40 packs of water bottles.

I didn’t think to have copies of their vaccines so I’ll make sure I make copies this week and put them in my google drive.

I’m really hoping we don’t have to leave. I have a feeling we will lose power even if one isn’t close. Our power flickered just during a small thunderstorm.
Milk and bread both freeze great but if you lose power, and your freezer stash thaws, the milk becomes useless. I'd buy shelf-stable cartons to store and just rotate through ever so often if having milk is a priority. I grew up on the gulf coast so we prepped for hurricane season. That was before bottled water was a 'thing' so my mom always washed and filled empty milk jugs and we always had plenty of canned goods on hand. Because of that, I still keep a lot of canned goods on hand for emergencies. Sometimes that 'emergency' is just that I don't feel like going to the store! I grew up with a 'preparedness' attitude and so I still prepare (though I'm never really sure for what here in CO lol).

I was not able to get the crook's address but at least my Sam's account is secure & I have a new Plat on the way. It could have been worse.

If he ever agrees, tell us on DISchurners, because the number of rude & entitled PMs you will receive if other people on this board find out about it will blow your mind.
I haven't lurked on the Dischurners yet, but I've experienced this on this board. Some people get really bent out of shape if you're entitled to discounts that they are not. In our case, it's related to our profession. I don't understand why people can't just be happy for other people's good fortune. We all have our share of knocks in life to make up for every positive thing we get. Sometimes I think people on these boards are a little too Disney obsessed to look at things objectively.

This is sooooo my DH. He’s very much an out of sight out of mind person, so he rarely understands why I’d do things like accumulate Disney GCs or bank AA miles. While on our WDW honeymoon, he was talking about where he wanted to stay when we came back again and planning to take the (now real) trip to bring our parents. A month after we got home, he was like “we’re not going back there for years, there’s no reason to.” We’ve gone three times since then  It makes me sound like such a mean/bossy wife, but I literally just plan things and tell him we’re going and then he gets on board and ends up loving it. Like Japan he’s just kind of been going along with me talking about it, but now that I’ve actually booked a flight there he’s all of a sudden like “did you know they have owl cafes there? We should go to the Pokémon museum. I want to stay at this Robot dinosaur hotel.”:rotfl: He‘s only ever mentioned a couple trips he wants to go on, one of which is Hawaii at New Years, so I’m going to make it happen.
Lol Dh is mostly only like this with Disney. He’s constantly saying he doesn’t want to go back for awhile and then suddenly he’ll say let’s go next weekend. When we planned for Japan he was just like your Dh. I mostly did all of the cc stuff and kept track. I had planned a ton of stuff before flights and even after getting our flights it took him awhile to get into the actual planning. Once he got started he loved looking for places to go and things to do.

For younger kids I’d recommend Dutch Wonderland....
We didn’t take DS until he was 5 to Hershey. Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster is much better for younger children, IMO. If I had mixed children then I would do Hershey. There is stuff for younger children but there are just so many teenagers and stuff, I just feel better at DW.
Great! I will check Dutch Wonderland.

Gas and ice are definitely the hottest commodities after a hurricane since with even a semi-direct hit, odds are you will lose power. My husband hates leaving the house so we stay and ride them through. Check to verify whether you are in a mandatory evacuation zone - we aren’t but my brother less than 2 miles away is in one (there are levels of evacuation so he only has to leave for big storms). Small LED flashlights were super useful and if you can clip them to your clothes or pocket even better.
FANS! I think you bought a generator? Without AC, fans make a huge difference and they can run off your generator. Here in S. Florida, people don’t really consider leaving until it’s a Cat 4 or 5. Cat 1-3 means stock up on beer and pull out the dominoes.
Oh! We drink coffee with milk every day so I keep a stash of the shelf stable milk.
I think we should be okay on ice since we can plug our fridge into our generator and it has an ice maker. Dh thought he could plug the generator into the house but we might have to figure that out because we were under the impression we could do it that way and still use the a/c.

Nope, we’re not in an evacuation zone. We’re actually about 20 minutes from any zones. It’s mostly just the coast and islands.

We did buy a generator. We ended up going with a big one. We have one box fan but we may need to get some more. That’s kind of what people here said too. They said category 3 they debate leaving but most stay. If it’s a 4 they leave. It sounds like they hardly ever leave in this area but lose power like crazy which makes no sense because it’s such a new area.

Cat 3 is typically something you ride out. I don't think my family evacuates for anything other than 4 or 5 (don't think they've had any 5's going in on them...). Having said that, Harvey was really bad a couple of years ago and several of my family flooded. Like water up to the roof tops! I don't even remember what the category strength ended up being when it came over them but it dumped like 55 inches of rain in 24 hours or something crazy like that. It's not always about the wind.

If you have a generator, you should definitely be able to stay put and enjoy your food and coolness :) I think my mom & stepdad can still run their a/c with the generator but not entirely sure. They are pretty far inland but lose power very easily and for weeks when a hurricane comes through.

I’m kind of upset that we didn’t look into the wine and dine runs. We didn’t really think about run Disney events when we knew we were moving here. That would’ve been fun to sign up for even if it was just the 5k but they’re all sold out

Looks like the only one we could do would be the Star Wars one next year but it’s nonrefundable and we might have things stopping us from running in it (mainly me).

Remember, practice make perfect (if I'm following you) :D

Soooo many acronyms!! 😛

While you were gone, we invented an acronym for that: SMA or TMA (for Too Many Acronyms) :D

What part of Florida are you in? Supposedly where we live we shouldn’t have to worry about it too much. They said hardly any flooding in this area but mainly wind and power outages

We did get the roof tested before we moved in with the wind test so hopefully that stays okay

I'm in Maryland. We do get hurricanes and flooding here as well. When we lived in Texas we were only 3 miles from the Gulf of Mexico - same hurricanes that ravage the Florida gulf coast, New Orleans, Galveston areas.

You've already purchased a small generator, if I remember correctly. A whole house generator is something I would consider if I lived in coastal Florida. You switch over to it when the regular power goes down. Actually lots of the newer homes have them here.

DoC also posted some Amex offers overnight:

https://www.doctorofcredit.com/targ...chnology-providers-up-to-100-includes-newegg/
https://www.doctorofcredit.com/targeted-amex-offer-best-buy-spend-250-receive-25-statement-credit/
https://www.doctorofcredit.com/targeted-amex-offer-staples-spend-40-receive-10-statement-credit/

DH and I both had Staples. I also had the $10 on $75 at department stores, which I did not have before. Hoping DH gets the BB offer because he also has an offer for an extra MR at BB (and Staples, woohoo stacking MR deals for the first time!)

We got the Staples Spend $40, Get $10 on several of my cards (obviously had to pick one), and the Spend $40, Get 1,000 MR on one of my cards and one of my wife's cards (in addition to the additional MR points offer). Offers saved on 3 cards.

Got the 30% back on select tech providers on my BGR and a Biz Plat, threw it on the BGR so it can see some spend.

Did not get the Best Buy offer on any of our cards (yet?).

Are your offers loading? I can only get DHs Plat to load, none of his other cards nor mine will load. Have tried explorer, private browsing, chrome incognito... :confused3

I added them on the Amex app.

I've been having problems with Amex Offers loading on Safari. Works fine on Chrome.

If anyone is interested in the DVC Magic Band it’s available this morning for $15 ....saw it while looking for the elusive Stitch band for my daughter
I got it this morning! Surprised to see it. Just need Toy Story for DD2 and I can be done with this nightmare.

They also have others that are LE and available for $15 if anyone needs to pick theirs.
