DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Do you have to wear a mask?

Not on the pitch, optional on the sideline. No fans allowed though, that will be a disappointment for the one or two dw/gf that show up on a semi-regular basis.

Wrong on both counts, although I would pick O’Reilly’s over Green Sleeves.
Went to Yellow Belly Brewery. They brew on site. Although I’m not much of a beer drinker I did have their taster flight. Nothing really stood out, but like I said I’m really not a beer drinker.
I did have their fish and chips, but with crushed salt and vinegar chips (a.k.a. crisps, Dan) breading. That was really interesting and I enjoyed it. Zero photos of any of this.

I've been to O'Reilly's a couple of times. That's where I discovered Shanneyganock.

Morning gents. Not much to report.
I've got 8 more kms to run this month to hit 80km in July. Never thought I'd see the day.
Other than that, work starting in a couple hours and that'll take care of the rest of the day.

Super frustrating at work yesterday. Kept getting a popup telling me "Congratulations! You've been selected for a prize!". Did that every time I opened the DIS. I'd type maybe 2-3 words and poof. Page gone. Congrats! Finally gave up. Hoping it's not there today.
I understood the handrails to step down into the boat, but they sprayed the center with no seating signs and newly installed plexiglass. I guess it's for the uproaring laughter on JC? Or, maybe just a show for the people. But, I can't imagine anyone who is scared would travel to a theme park right now.
Good point.
Also, most everything is geared for a family of four, so a family of 6 is being seated 4 and 2 on rides and shows. POTC seated two groups of two in front row and back row only.
Huh! Interesting that they'd keep that, but... I guess dem's da rulz.
Paid a visit to our local short track last night, haven't done that for years. Pretty clean night of racing, mostly because there wasn't a lot of racing going on. There were some battle but a lot of the longer races ended up being follow the leader. Still an enjoyable, low cost evening.
I've never been a fan of anything but open wheel racing... and even then just the top two in North America. (Indy and F1, in that order)
But I wouldn't mind checking out a short track just once. We have one nearby, some day I'll make the short trip to the short track.
DW has been working so I’ve just been doing a little work around the house (emphasis on little).
How low can he go?
I tried a couple pictures, not sure if you can really see them in the water
Zoomed in. See them, but it's not easy.

So what did you win?

Morning all from parts unknown. Been another fun morning with a first on SDD, @$$, and front row on RNRC. Long lines outdoor, and then they zip in once you get the AC. It seems like they don't clean rides but every so often. So, no cleaning for Toy Story Mania, but paused on RNRC while every coaster sprayed down and then rolled back thru to start. I guess they have a cycle.

Um.... Maybe they think it adds to the ambiance.

Ask at the front desk. Chances are they have some that guests have left behind. Otherwise they'll steer you in the right direction.

Sounds good!

Thanks. We bought the portable charger with the iphone connector, and she can charge it at the room with the USB cord.

Have a good match. Our local, annual tennis tournament is next weekend. But, I'm waiting to see if the Governor issues a mask order to determine if we play or not.

I've been a Nascar fan mostly. My former neighbor, the drunk roofer, raced cars at the Louisville Motor Speedway. Most just had an old impala or grand prix or whatever else they fix up and raced it. Saw ovals and figure 8s and demolition derbies. They would have classic car oval races which were really fun to watch. I've helped a guy here with his race car on occasion at a much smaller track, just loading, unloading, timing, etc.

Afternoon, gents! Had a good day off yesterday. Took the family to breakfast and met up with a friend. Afterwards, I ran some errands and then came home around lunchtime. When I got home, the wife was off at a church gig and the DD was at the in-laws. So I made lunch and popped on the Star Wars marathon happening on TV. After I ate lunch, which was around 1pm, I sat back with the full intention of watching the movie that was on....then I woke up at around 3:30 pm. Yeah, I guess I needed that nap. Spent most of the morning trying to get my Canon photo printer to speak with the network so I could print pictures. I finally gave up and re-installed it, so it works for now. Still don't know why it stopped speaking with the wifi network. Oh well, it works for now. Well, I'm off to the in-laws. My DMiL is working on a real estate portion of an estate, and she said I could come over to watch and learn. So, have a good day, gents.

Morning All.

Going to be a scorcher. Not planning on doing anything.

Have a good one.

Those are the days you either spend inside in the A/C, at the beach, or by a pool. I prefer to split my time between the A/C, what little we have, and the beach.

Congrats! So... which one was it? The legal one or the post office one or something else?

The legal job. I'll be working as a Real Estate Paralegal, something I've not done before, so I have a huge learning curve.

But the last day of doing that. Makes alllll the difference.

That's right! Now I'll be spending all day on my fat butt. However, there is a gym across the street.

😁

Wait. You didn't give two weeks notice?

I did not, no. I was going to, and wanted to, but it was my understanding that, because I had a lot to learn in a short time, I either take it and start on Monday, or they'd go with someone else. So I took it. Not ideal, but my supervisor was pretty cool about it, he actually told me, with the department lead as a witness, that if I ever found a job I really wanted and they wanted me to start the next day, he'd understand. And I also technically didn't work for them, so they couldn't really couldn't stop me. Still, would have liked to have given the 2 weeks, because that's the kind of guy I am.

Yeah, please...I'm low on my mental bleach supply.

🤣

We are back form our day trip along the coast. Spent some time on the beach then had some seafood for lunch a few pics of the coastline.

Those look nice.

Hello all from the line in jungle cruise. Meltdown averted for oldest dd's charger, and apparently temper tantrums know no end.

Been a good day with small crowd levels. Longest wait has been around 40 minutes. However, there is huge inconsistency between cleaning rides. Peter Pan had no clean, and they were spraying an aerosol (throughly) on the boats at Jungle Cruise.

I don't like the Disney sanitizer, so I've been making more trips to wash my hands in the bathroom. And, I don't like the mask. But, if that is what it takes to be here at Disney, then so be it. I can't imagine wearing a mask again on another trip though. If this is the new normal, then it won't include me. Hopefully, when this 1 or 2 year pandemic is over, so real we will have a better understanding of what to do for the next one.

Hope you're having a good time at least.

Afternoon boys from a wet and then Sunny and then wet again London. Busy weekend, but managed to squeeze in some home made pizza between the showers. Watched the final day of the Prem and now the Yankees are on. So all in all, not too shabby.

Have a great Sunday fellas, I'll catch up on the reading tomorrow. Good luck tomorrow CCT, hope it goes well.

Heh. Next time, I'll see if I can somehow redirect it to you and you can fill in all your personal details to claim your prize.
I'm just a giving person like that.

Sure just sending me your banking info and I'll fill in the rest.

Yankees!!!!!! Man, we have to have an intervention!

Now that's really odd. I mean... you kinda have to have your hands all over it to play.

I'd like to see a demo derby some day. Just for laughs.

Dude sounds pretty chill about it. And... if you weren't technically working there, then... no worries either.

I have two showers at home. One on either side of the house. Kitchen in the middle. So technically I make pizza between the showers too.

I thought the exact same thing. I had thought he had good taste because he likes the Cubs. Now he's batting .500.

I'd like to see a demo derby some day. Just for laughs
Saw several when I was younger. Kinda funny wat hing everyone driving backwards. The figure 8 is something I'd like to see.

:lmao:

Well played, sir.

Goodness no. The prize is alllllll yours. Enjoy
You're such a generous guy!

More to post. Really liked Mickey Runaway Raliroad. That was a lot of fun and unpredictable in that Great Movie Ride space. Not sure the outside fits with the theming, but a great ride. After an amazing meal at Brown Derby, we are stuck at Rise of the Resistance with a technical issue. Hopefully, we get to ride it. We really only lack Smugglers Run for all the new stuff at DHS, and it started raining before out time slot came up. By the way, it was #46, and I did it right at 10 AM when prompted. It is now 3:57 PM.

Plus, Disney is only enforcing half the rules. If you wear a mask under the nose, then they request you pull it up. However, if your standing outside in the line, they aren't requiring people to stand in the designated areas, move forward, or stay together as a family. So, a family moves forward to the next line spot, and other people's kids are sitting there in the shade. Or, a family waits in the shade until 5 families in front move up, so they can walk to shade again. Then, teenagers and kids running to join parents right before entering ride, walking within 6 feet of 100 other people. Inconsistency is the worst. Masks and 6 feet away for some people, but others are exempt? Give me a break. If you think this actually works (it doesn't, but it's a nice show), then everyone has to have the same rules.

A large breakfast and a nap sound like a great day. The gym is wear it belongs - across the street. Don't worry about the 2 weeks, as they didn't hire you within 2 weeks. It's to be expected.

Sorry I wasn't there to cheer West Ham on, but it wasn't needed. One more year in the top flight. I sent them an email stating I'm available to be the manager for next season. No reply so far.

Now that's really odd. I mean... you kinda have to have your hands all over it to play.

I guess they figure every hour, the ride gets a cleaning and that should be good enough? But, I'm not sure how else it could be done, other than sanitizing everytime causing massive waits. Maybe every other car is sanitized each time?

My solution was to just go to the bathroom after and washmy hands. But, I think about how many other times I rode that ride and others, but did not. I wash my hands before I eat, and currently more often as a precaution. Still, cloth masks and no eye protection do little to prevent any virus.

Demo derby is also fun at dusk when the winner has one headlight remaining. They all still backwards, but even if not immobilized, if both headlights are out, then the car is out.

Yeah, I'm with Declansdad, we need to have an intervention, my friend. The YANKEES?! :sad2: And here I thought you were ok. 😆

Thanks, man.

Calm down laydeez. I was just waiting for the cubs to start....

Mhmm I'm keeping an eye on you. :magnify:

Yankees!!!!!! Man, we have to have an intervention!

Right?! The evil empire. :darth:

Ah! Well, good for you!

Can't wait, nervous, but can't wait. Hoping to transfer some of my litigation training to the new position...but we'll see.

Good to hear. Don’t know anything about it.
hope you get on RotR.

RoTR is absolutely 1000% worth it. I guess a faster phone would have got me in sooner, but it was still worth the wait. I intentionally didn't watch or read any reviews because I wanted to be surprised and enjoy it. I definitely was. It's now up for best ride at WDW for me, but Kilimanjaro Safaris will be difficult to beat.

007 is a West Ham United fan, which hasn't held up many championship banners. So, it's understandable he's pick the Yankees, hoping for a Championship. Why he picked the Bears is anyone's guess.

High praise!

Yum!

I haven't seen that at all on any of the live feeds I've watched over the last couple of weeks. Seems like you are hitting a bad string of luck with the rides.

He’s a master at it.
Oh, well done you. :worship:.That's gold right there. Hey....wait!

Since when did watching a team on the box constitute support? However......

for Clarity.

My Teams are:
The rest of the world's Football - West Ham United
Your Football - Bears
Baseball - Cubs
Hoops - Knicks

All teams that I first saw play live. This is my standard requirement for applicable reasons for supporting a team, apart from you or your immediate family were born in the vicinty of aforementioned professional team. So I guess I am a Canucks fan as well, although I could give a tinker's cuss about Hockey, I don't think I've seen a game since 2008. I seem to remember they had quite a good goalkeeper. I'm sure I've got a jersey with his number on the back, I know it was 1, but I guess that's pretty standard for a goalie.
So my allotted slots are full, apart from College football. I lean towards the Gators, mainly because of CJ, but I do have a sneaky admiration for Clemson.

Got to Vero Beach today.
Are you staying on points or somewhere else?
Enjoy. Shrimp and Clams are always a winner. Maybe with some Calamari. And some Mahi Mahi.
which hasn't held up many championship banners
By that, you mean, er...none.
It'd be even cooler if it was the Red Sox!
Now that, is an interesting conversation we will have at some point, around Red Sox support in the UK, and why it wouldn't be cooler for me to support Boston.

That's the makings of a classic Disney day there bud. Good rides, good eatin' and sweating your Jacobs off waiting for the maintenance guy with the spanner.
Well, I don't think he has a problem with orange. So he's halfway there!
(Not very) Interestingly, me and my cousin got warned in a kind of "If you carry on, you're leaving" in a Vegas bar for winding up a group of UoT fans. Most of which involved chants on where they could stick their orange. I was pretty drunk, in my defense.

Right, onto talking about little plastic bricks for the rest of the day.

Have a great Monday chaps, Doc enjoy Vero, Norm enjoy whichever park you are hitting today, I'm guessing Mikey is on wheels down for this week.
The rest of us just carry on with the grind. And no, Ponzie, not in the bating sense.
