For all of you worried that Happily Ever After won't be a good replacement for Wishes

Sorry to anyone who liked this because everyone is entitled to an opinion, and no one is "wrong" but this is a terrible replacement.
I don't think I even need to get into details about why; it's obvious.
We are shattered by this.
We cried watching it, but for the wrong reasons.
To each their own.

I was worried the out-of-park resort/TPV room viewing experience would be diminished with the new show. I was very wrong. Watched from our Poly TPV room last night and was impressed. It was a very good show from this vantage point.
Thanks for this perspective. Would you say it's just as good a show as Wishes when viewed from the Poly beach? Are ther non-fireworks elements that you can see? I see those light beams in the pictures....are there other things like that that are visible outside the park?

I hadn't watched Wished from inside the park in years. I've been a little concerned that the new show wouldn't be as good, say from the roof of the CR.

On perspective - wondering how it will be from behind the castle. Our favorite spot to watch Wishes was in Fantasyland (pretty much exactly where Dumbo used to sit.) It sounds like there are enough fireworks this might still work?

We'll be sure to catch it from the front the first couple of times, but as frequent visitors, "staking out a spot" is not something we prefer to do.

A lot of mixed reviews from the live stream last night. First off as with all Disney shows, do not completely dismiss it until you are here, in person. Videos and pictures do no justice to anything this visually rich.
For those comparing it to Wishes, you have had Wishes for a very long time, 14 years of watching, memories created, knowing the soundtrack, you cannot expect one viewing will replace all that. My original MK fireworks show was Fantasy in the Sky and when Wishes came along I wasn't sure about it either but then it grew on me with each viewing.
For those saying it doesn't have a story: someone has a dream (beginning part with Tiana and Quasimodo) the struggles and adversities you must got through (middle part) the finale where you achieve your goals and dreams.
Classic characters were there: Jungle Book, Snow White, Dumbo, Maleficent, Tink, this will require multiple viewings to see everything.
I am very excited to watch this in person tonight.

It was a very good show from this vantage point. The audio could have been a touch louder from this spot, but it was OK (it was like that for Wishes too, FWIW). Tons of pyro, some new/interesting shapes, lots of mega bursts it seemed. A few choppy parts I guess but that's OK. DS6 perked up big time when he heard things like Moana that he recognizes. He woke up this morning asking if we could see it again tonight. So the magic worked on him! :thumbsup2

Some (rough iphone) photos of our view...for reference, this is from the second floor of the Hawaii longhouse.

Thanks for sharing this ... I am doing a quicky trip down for the DIS 20th party and was hoping to watch this from either the Poly beach or the TTC so glad to hear you thought it was still a good show from outside of the park

You are 100% correct that everyone is entitled to their own opinion (it's why there are 31 flavors of ice cream) but I must say this is by far the most negative reaction I have seen so far ... with most of what I have read being about 95% positive and those that weren't huge fans just not feeling the same emotion as Wishes

So, again, I totally understand that not everyone won't love it, but I gotta say it isn't "obvious" to me why you think it was so terrible :confused3

The livestream was ok. The DIS 4K was much better. The livestream didn't bring much of the screaming from the crowd

Still reserving final judgement till an in person viewing in October

I really do hope the story comes across better in person. We aren't the mourning Wishes people at all. We felt it was time for something new. We also were only able to view the video from my iPhone so it's such a tiny little view. The story was a very weak inference from what we could see. What you described, I didn't get any of that at all. I'm hoping it'll be way more WOW and obvious story in person.

I was very emotionally attached to Wishes for sentiment. Saw it the first time on my honeymoon. Got to see it again for my then 5 year old's first trip. Made it a point to see it as many times as possible.

I have to say I was worried about the new show, because of the many negative "cost cutting" posts here.

WOW is all I can say. There was no cost cutting here. It was just so amazing and that was on my TV! I cried during this one, too. The lanterns did it to me :D

There's a lot of heart in this, but if you do not enjoy the films that have come out in the last 10 years you won't like it. We love those movies and watch them all the time.

You said it right here Cost-Cutting! Yes, its a new show, lets go all out! I wonder whats gonna happen to it 6 months to a year from now. I never saw Wishes on Day 1, it wasn't till 2005 that I first saw it so I don't know if anythings ever been cut, but the Illuminations soundtrack I have doesn't match up 100% with what I see today. Hallowishes has a whole section cut out from when it first came to be.

I don't know what but I worry that some sort of cost-cutting will happen and something will have to go in the future, most likely some of the fireworks (there are a lot of them). Right now if they didn't do a wiz bang job there would be holy hell from the guests

Just viewed the video...it looks beautiful, can't wait to see it in person! Was worried Tink wasn't going to fly in this production...glad to see she still makes her flight from the castle!

It made me emotional because I recently left my emotionally abusive marriage and am hoping to find a happily ever after for myself and my son.
Wishes was hopeful but the message of HEA is empowering I think.

I totally agree! I feel like HEA is almost a continuation of the Wishes theme. Wishes is about believing our dream can come true, and HEA is about going out and making it happen.

Good luck to you and your son. :)

Outside of the Disney Parks Blog video, I find the DIS video to be the best that I have seen so far. I'm always glad that they wait just a little bit longer than most of the other big Disney fan sites and upload the best quality possible. Great job DIS team! :)

I find this show absolutely amazing!
Yes, that was a great video!!!! Now I am seeing more of the WOW pixiedust: still waiting for a boy band to pop out and break into a dance with the new music they wrote for the show though.

Where's the heart? It was awfully neat looking, that's for sure. But the orchestration and arrangement never really built on itself. Didn't use any of the classic songs really. I know they're trying to do something different than wishes, but how in the world do you not use wish upon a star again?

We do disney for the magic and heart behind stuff. If all they're bringing now is technology with no emotion, then I'm bummed. The only moving part was go the distance and that's more the strength of the individual song and had nothing to do with the show. Super disappointed. Plus we're behind the castle viewers, guess that's no longer an option.

I am not a big Wishes fan honestly. It dragged in parts especially in the musical elements. IMHO, This is a better put together show than Wishes was and I prefer the music and visuals. I don't fully get the story from the visuals, but I don't think the Visuals are as needed as some may think. I think it rivals Fantasmic or Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular (Star Wars Fan) in terms of being the best Night time show at the parks.

I agree. They are different messages, one more traditional and sentimental, the other more modern and empowering.
