When do people usually cancel their party reservations if they aren't planning on going? Is it earlier in their planning or right up to the 5 day cancellation mark? Looking for 2 openings on June 21st

Check about the time the long range weather forecast starts including those dates. We cancelled when we saw that the forecast included heavy rain, about a week and a half before our May 20th party date. I’m glad we did, because the forecast was right and it poured all weekend. (Since one of our main reasons for booking was the lakeside seating, the indoor party wouldn’t have been worth it for us.)

Being a local and being at the parties often, long range forecasts are wrong a lot of the time. I would wait and take full advantage of the one day cancellation policy.

So I sent an email to Guest Services the other day asking about parties for September. I received a call today and the cast member said that "the word he got from Epcot is that they are not sure they will continue this event" and that "they are watching its popularity for now." He said that is why you can't usually book this event at the normal 180 day window. I thanked him for the call and said I would keep checking.

Take that for what you will. I figured I would share with those of you waiting.

I hope that isn't the case :sad2: It doesn't sound right as it seems quite popular from what I've read on these boards. I hope it's just a case of misinformed CM's as that seems quite usual.

I still have no idea why they bothered to call me, but it was a nice gesture!

Phone reps are always well informed and always give out the correct information, so I guess no parties after August.:rotfl2::rotfl:

I would like to second this.

2 phone reps told me that Club Villain would most likely be back for Fall 2017, and a third told me that it was definitely coming back... "book it".

Alas, 2017 came and went without any Spring, Summer, Fall, or late Winter Club Villain dates.

I posted about this in the Star Wars thread, but I had an online chat rep and a phone rep both tell me that September was already bookable for both this event and the SW:GS dessert, and the phone rep proceeded to tell me that all of the dates of my trip were already sold out. The very helpful people in that thread who are in the know told me that it was incredibly likely that the information I was given by these two individuals was wrong.

What blows my mind isn't just that this really bad misinformation is out there, but how much DIFFERENT misinformation is out there. Hang in there! We'll get our September/October dates when the Disney event gods decide to smile upon us.

Yeah it gets pretty crazy. I really want to be able to book before FP day!

I agree, because if we can do the FEA dessert party I likely won't use a FP on the ride. I haven't actually even seen Frozen, but I'd like to go on the ride so that we can see the cool animatronics, and I like "Let It Go" enough to at least want to ride it once. But the other Epcot attractions that are Tier 1 FPs are higher priority for us.

For anyone who has done this event, I have a question. I am hoping to book this event for Wednesday, October 3rd. We're hoping to have dinner at Flying Fish that night, which I know is within walking distance of Epcot. If we have a 6pm Flying Fish reservation, would we be able to make a party that starts at 8?

I've done the party once or twice.

I always question having a big sit down meal before any dessert party.

The party is fairly short to begin with and if it's moved indoors due to the threat of rain, which is a high probability during the rainy season, it's even shorter because Guests have to be escorted to the viewing area before Illuminations. That process can cut the party short by 10 to 15 minutes.

I totally understand the big meal thing. To be totally honest, most of the draw for the parties for me is the viewing area, and in the case of FEA, the ride. If we aren’t able to stuff ourselves with dessert we won’t be too disappointed. That said...my mom and I are both world class eaters and I fully expect to be able to put away plenty of treats.

Are you saying that we likely won’t be able to make it by the time the party starts? Would an earlier reservation be a smarter option?

We’re also considering 9/30 for the party, with dinner inside Epcot and on the earlier side. Is that probably a better plan?

Nope, not saying that, only you have a sense of how much time you'll want to spend at the restaurant. If you're comfortable with two hours to eat and get over to the party, go for it. Nothing says you have to be at the party when it starts, especially if you're not going to have that many desserts.

It'll be a shorter walk to the party if nothing else.

Maybe it is because Illuminations is changing then so a new party would align with a new show?

So funny enough, when we did the FEA party in February, we had dinner at Flying Fish first then headed into Epcot for the party that evening. Our ADR was at 5, not 6, so I can't really help with your exact timing.

Between a pre-dinner drink at the bar, apps, entrees, a wine flight, etc, our meal experience was probably 1.5ish hours, maybe a bit longer. We didn't really want to arrive at the dessert party at 8PM (too much sitting around for us) so strolled around Epcot for awhile, rode some rides, etc. It was a great evening!

BTW, we really enjoyed Flying Fish. It was almost the perfect "pre-dessert party" restaurant because the food is relatively light and portion sizes are on the smaller side (think, more focus on flavor and quality than mega-sized plates).

I think @rteetz could elaborate, but I am pretty sure I saw the rumor it's going to be next year.

Honestly I thought the same thing, or that F&W has something to do with the delay of dates, but who really knows. They have a party the first night of F&W, so that doesn't make 100% sense.

I thought I saw September 2019, but I could be mistaken.

Yes earliest time frame for a new show is later in 2019.
