Dealing with a Difficult Child

She really sounds like she may have at a minimum depression - at least some sort of mood disorder. She really needs mental health counseling & evaluation from someone new - it doesn't sound like her current treatment is working at all. Find out what sort of mental health services are offered at her college - usually these can be great because they are focused on treating folks her age with all the aggravations that come with that age or stage in life. They will not give you any info about her care but make sure she has the number and address of the clinic as she heads off. And hope she'll find the courage to go. Having had one experience with a health professional doesn't mean the rest are the same. Are you just going to not go to the obstetrician when you're pregnant because you didn't like the first one you saw? No. You go find a new one, because that's what a responsible adult does.
Then go get some counseling for yourself to find some tactics to help with dealing with her mental health disease. Because unlike most medical diagnoses, mental health issues can destroy families, not just the person affected. Good luck.
