Foxtrot oscar 9/04 NOTE FROM RAMSAY LTD POST #126

OK, Pats and Eddy are the two main characters in Absolutely Fabulous (AbFab), a British Sit-Com. They are a little past their prime, but wander from shop to shop, drunk on thier faviourite drink - a mix of Stolli (Vodka) and Bolli (Champagne).

Genreally they stumble around the place spending extrordinary amounts of money on designer clothes.

A Sloane Ranger is defined by wikipedia as:

Sloane Ranger, a commonplace term in 1980s London, was originally popularised by British writer Peter York and co-writer Ann Barr in The Official Sloane Ranger Handbook (1982) and its companion The Official Sloane Ranger Diary. The books were published by the British society-watcher magazine Harpers & Queen, for whom Peter York was Style Editor and "was responsible for identifying the cult phenomena of "Sloane Rangers" and "Foodies".[2]

The exemplar female Sloane Ranger was considered to be Lady Diana Spencer before marrying Charles, Prince of Wales, when she was an aristocrat from the Spencer family. However, most Sloanes were not aristocrats as Diana was. Considered typical of SRs was patriotism and traditionalism, and a belief in the values of upper class and upper middle-class culture, self-confidence in themselves and their given places in the world, a fondness for life in the countryside, country sports in particular, philistinism and anti-intellectualism. The title of the Sloane Ranger handbook lists the subheading "the problem of Hampstead, in reference to the stereotypical Sloane Ranger's supposed antipathy to the champagne socialist stereotype of the Hampstead intellectual.

"Laquoix, Sweety, Laquoix" - is a reference to Christian Laquoix, a favoured designer for Sloane Ranger's both real and imagined. It is also the AbFab quote used in the Pet Shop Boys song of the same name.

I have been in contact with the Foxtrot Oscar - here is where we are -

September 4, 2011 at 6:30 PM is available for a small group.

I though 6:30 would be a good choice since there is a DIS meet that day and some people have plans later in the evening.

They have a private room that they could use for our group if we can provide twenty patrons. Working on getting a hold on that room now.

There is a reduced price (28 pounds) three course menu available with this room, I am waiting to see if the regular menu is also available.

Sounds great! Thanks for doing all of the leg work for us!

Well, I recognized the words as the military way of spelling things, so I asked Mike, "So, what does FO mean?"

And I wanted to kick him when he told me to...uh.. eff off.

Well, I can see why the work filter would object to that! :rolleyes1

I think that we should probably look towards an earlier seating for those that have other plans that evening, or for those who want to pack and get some rest for the next days trip to Paris.

Agree, that the Gordon Ramsay experience is what we are looking for.

What would everyone prefer? A private room or chef's table somewhere, or a price fixed two or three course early supper?

Feedback? I am leaning towards Foxtrot Oscar, it sounds so Gordon Ramsay-ish, and they have Yorkshire pudding - whatever that is.

We should make our reservations when the ninety day window opens, so let me know what you think and we will set it up.

Thanks.

I'll speak to DH and see what he thinks, sounds like good food.

Yorkshire pudding is a batter that you bake in the oven until it's crispy. There is also toad in the hole with sausages cooked in the batter - it's my favourite :goodvibes

Well it is Gordon Ramsay

:thumbsup2

Anyone ever watch Ramsay's BBC show The "F" Word?

We watch it, I am slowly warming to Janet Street Porter

Hope they do another series.

FYI, we need to start using the "King's English!" :rotfl2:

Bugger!

Bollocks :lmao:
