Getting to know you

Sorry you guys...didn't mean to confuse all with SINK. I figured DINK (double income - no kids) for the married why can't I be a SINK!?!

Getting a little stressed now. Why I always think I need EVERYTHING and I do mean EVERYTHING little to take on a road trip is beyond me. I have a plastic tub for my clothes, a separate one for shoes & hats (I'm way to obsessed with "looking good" - especially for pictures and I'm nowhere near a Diva), a small one for cameras, film & batteries (I have a bad habit of either loosing or breaking a camera on vacation - current total is 4) so I'm bringing both digital cameras, a 35mm point & shoot and 2 disposible cameras, a tub for snacks & games (travel Outburst, travel Bingo, a clipboard with the License Plate game,
Slug Bug and a new one "Slam, Bam, Dodge Ram"), a cooler, a tub with cassettes for the van, a roll of paper towels & Windex in case it's Love Bug Season, toilet paper for those rest stops where there are none, Kleenex, wetwipes, clothespins, trash bags, baggies........

My mom asked me last night if there was room for her & my dad in the van! At the rate I'm going, they may have to ride on the roof!! :lmao:

Step away from the stuff!!!
Pack it all and then take 1/2 back out. That's all you'll need. Trust me, I over pack too. Especially food. I end up tossing about 1/2 of what I bought out by the end of the trip.

Guess it's my turn :)

I'm Faerie, a/k/a Christina (or Chris or if you're my 4 1/2 year old niece Princess Auntie Chrissy). I'm a native New Englander transplanted to South Florida. I've been here since 1994. I'm 28 and not married, much to my mom's chagrin. I do have a wonderful boyfriend of almost 2 years, Brian. I work for an attorney here as a legal assistant and my boss is wonderful.

I come from a family of travel agents so I've been going to Disney since I was 8 months old (actually my mom went when she was preggers with me, does that count?). The Disney bug never left and I lost count of my visits a while ago. Living 3 hours south affords me the joy of weekend trips.

Not counting Disney, my other love is Sports. I'm a HUGE Red Sox and Patriots fan. I also root for the Celtics, although my interest in the NBA has wavered in the past decade. I've just started to enjoy hockey and I root for the Florida Panthers.

I've been scrapping since 2000 when a friend dragged me to a CM class. I bought the "big kit" that night and still use lots of the items (which reminds me, I need a new red blade). As well as scrapping I make cards, jewelery and just started playing with clay. Brian said if I take on another hobby he's kicking me out of my new crafting area.

Like others, I'm a book junkie (trashy romances like Nora Roberts - I call it junk food for the mind), LOVE Harry Potter and I'm a TV junkie (LOST and Gray's are my CANNOT MISS shows)

Got the book ordered (and will the tickets when they are available on Fandango), as well as the vacation time scheduled. It'll be a wonderful summer for movies (and book :goodvibes ). I'm taking off the Friday of the movie as I'll do the midnight viewing in prep for taking DD7 (know when to cover her eyes plus I need a viewing without questions or squirming), and will sleep until I take her that afternoon. THEN, I'm off the Friday before the book to get a good, long nap in -- as I'll be at the bookstore at 6:00 to get my wristband and back at 7:00 with DD for the "festivities" (take her home around 9:30) and back for the midnight release, when I'll take it home and read until I finish. Then, sleeping and the second read. Yeah, I'm a dork.

I'm finishing up my romance series then I'm going to start re-reading 1-6 of HP. DH got me the British version of the books and they are a much easier read. If ya'll understand british slang you should read them, they flow nicely. I need to get #6 in British english though. DH got me a box set of 1-5.

As for the movie, I want to get through POTC 3 first then we'll gear up for HP. I'll go watch it first then decide which of the kids should see it. DS5 was not thrilled with the last movie so he'll probably stay home with my mom. It's going to be a good year for movies I think. Although I was disappointed that HP4 was hacked up. There was so much more to tell! Granted it would have been about 4 hours long but I'd stay and watch it.
Did ya'll here that Rupert, Emma, and Daniel all signed contracts to finish out the movies? YAY!! Emma was on the fence but I'm glad she is sticking around.

Hi,
I'm Barb.....I live near Cincinnati, Oh.
I have two grown sons and just two weeks ago became a Grandma for the first time. I work as a nanny.

My favorites are: Reality TV, Grey's Anaomy and ER.
Movies...Disney Movies of course, Wizard of OZ, Shawshank Redemption,
Lord of Rings trilogy, Star Wars Trilogy and Harry potter.

I collect Wizard of OZ and Tinkerbell. pixiedust:

I have been scrapbooking for about 10 years now.
Currently working on our last Disney trip, I also make Wizard of OZ scrapbooks and sell them.
Guess my next one will be a baby book...

Looking forward to some swaps and learning from everyone here.

BArb

Congrats on the new grandbaby!!!! A new person to introduce to Disney, I love it!

Where did you find the British version? I would much rather read it in its original form.

DH bought them for me on one of his business trips to England. But you can buy them from amazon.co.uk I know the exchange rate is pretty high though. I'm not sure how much you would want to spend. I got the children's version but there is an adult version too. I don't know what the difference is though. Queenie or MazdaUK might be able to tell you.

It is too bad they are so heavy. It would be killer to mail them even if one could buy them reasonably. Guess I'll be ebaying soon.

That would be so cool to have the english version!!!! I think I would want the Adult version though! Even though I would be reading it to a child eventially, I would want it for myself first!!!! I have the american version he can understand, so he can read the english version later if he so wishes!!!! I may have to check with Mazda to see if she can get it for me!!!! What a good idea!!!! Could be a good Christmas present to myself!!!! Or Birthday present!!!! I would wait until all the books are out though, so I would just have shipping once!

Obsessive???:rotfl: You sure you don't have kids????

Hi all! I’ve been neglecting my DIS crafting buddies! My name is Tina and I’m 46. I’m a single mom to dd Kaitlin who will be 9 on 5/1. Like she let’s me forget it! :lmao: We live Downriver too in Wyandotte! Hi Julez4u! I have lived in S E MI all my life. I work for the County of Wayne in Detroit as a Sr. HR Specialist and have worked there for 20 yrs. I like all kinds of crafts counted x-stitch, scrap booking, stained glass and I’ll try most anything. I like to read, do genealogy, TV (I like Cold Case, Jericho, DWTS & Disney channel) and of course DISing!

Currently I’m not only obsessed with Disney- but with the Trip of a Life Time the Eastern Repo in August 2008! See pirate banner below! pirate: LOL! We first went to WDW in 2005 when dd was 5 and stayed at ASMo. We loved it. Last year we did a Land/Sea package and tried cruising and loved it and later went to WDW for MNSSHP. In February we did the Western Magic. Cruising is for us! We be Great Lake Pirate Wenches! LOL! pirate: There must be something in the water at WDW it keeps us coming back! :drinking1 Now I’m thinking of getting into DVC! And to think the first time I went to WDW in 1991 with a gf and her dd I didn’t think much of it. :sad2:

DD is in 3rd grade and takes ballet, pom pon and jazz/hip hop lessons and is in the district wide Wyandotte Academy Youth Choir. She’s a happy kid and I love that! I’m currently the Secretary of the PTO and looks I’ve been drafted to be Treasurer for next year. :scared1: :scared1:

We are looking forward to the new POTC 3 movie and are a bit pirate crazy! I love all the Disney characters, but my favorites are Tink and Chip ‘n Dale. DD likes Tink and Tigger.

Mmmm, wonder if I forgot anything?
