HELP: I mistakenly unsubscribed to this thread...how do I resubscribe....

Go to Thread Tools at the top and "subscribe to this thread."

I guess the way my options are set up, I am subscribed to any thread I post in.

Man, the boards are flying today!!

Thanks! We worked really hard planning it all & hoping to get everything accessible without looking like it was!

I thought about your whole remodeling adventures with the State last week while reading an article in one of the "lifestyle" magazines published locally. (I'll try to find a link). It was about a bunch of groups coming together to retrofit a house for a Good Samaritan who lost both of his legs in an accident. The guy had stopped on the interstate trying to help a woman change a flat tire, & he was crushed between cars.

Anyhow, the groups came in with donated time, $$$ and supplies and fixed the house up over a very short period of time. I quickly figured there was no State approval process happening there!

Because I grew up with my grandfather & two great aunts confined to wheelchairs, I am very familiar with accessibility issues. I know how difficult it is to move one of those lifts over carpet! I'm so glad for you (& your back) that everything is finally coming together.

Ladies, I have a big problem with the new Saturn - I have fallen in love with it. Kyle's on retreat and I've been running my errands all morning in it.:car:

Thanks, We really feel blessed to have had the help! If not for the financial assistance there is no way we could have even considered doing it! The redoing of the slab alone was a huge! Did you notice in my earlier post to Kathy, we are taking Bob's counselor out to lunch today to thank her? Really nice lady, who doesn't often get any appreciation for taking her job seriously & caring about the people she helps.

It's nice to chat with someone who understands the difficulties! My DH is a pretty amazing guy, I don't think there are many men who would continue to work & provide for their families with the difficulties he faces just getting out of bed. Working is the one thing he still has left that makes him feel accomplished. So whatever I can do to help him is worth every ache & pain.

DH's state counselor will be coming by to do a final run through on the bathroom. We'll be taking her out to lunch to show our appreciation. She really has a pretty thankless job. Overworked, underpaid, really a shame cus she's a person who really cares about the people she helps.

That's so very nice of you!:flower3:

:rotfl: :lmao: Poor Kyle! He doesn't even get to scoot around in his new car & Mom is off running errands in it! Will he get to go show it off tonight? or will Mom be keeping the new car?!

Yea - I've got to let it go, he gets it tonight.;)

Hey, are husbands invited to the meet--or just the ladies?

Also, if anyone is going to the Endymion parade, let me know--I'll give you DH's float and number on the float. I'll tell him to look out for my "DIS" friends--he'll take care of ya:)

Kathy - I have an 05 Saturn ION and let me tell you- I LOVE MY LITTLE CAR!!
I have so much fun in it that I hate to have to drive my DH's at all. And the gas mileage is great. I was getting 25mpg in the city after the storm, but now living in Madisonville, with all the highway driving I do I get 32mpg easily.

Sheryl - I absolutely love your bathroom and vanity area. It's so luxurious looking!

Is it too late for me to get in on the get together?? Sounds like fun!!

I'm used to the gas mileage I get in my Explorer which is pathetic! Oh well, MY little car is gone, Kyle just left for baseball in it!;)

I dont care if hubbies come... Ive meet a cpl and of course they are fab lol!!
If we do it on the April 5th, Chad will for sure be in N.O. with me since we will spend the night.... but i can always send him off on his way for a while. If we do it on the 11th Ill be alone.

Im not sure if we are going to Endymion, but i think we are!!!

Hey y'all!

My laptop died yesterday :badpc:, so we went out today and bought a new computer! :cool1: We upgraded to a 19 inch monitor, and the thing is huge- I'm going blind looking at it! :hippie:

Those dates work for me so far for the meet. I'm ok with dinner or whatever else y'all want to do (just no casinos! )

Kathy- Congrats to Kyle on the new car! :car: I know what you mean about wanting to steal it- I stole DH's Camry for a few weeks before I surrendered it and took back my old Subaru.

Shryl- Your bathroom is GORGEOUS!! Really, it looks beautiful, like something off of one of those HDTV shows. You would never think it a handicap accessible bathroom either.

Mary- We will be going to Endymion since we live so close to the route. I doubt we'll be there for the whole parade though- I'll just be strolling DD out there to see a few floats and marching bands before it gets too overwhelming. It also depends on how crowded it is this year- do you think being back in Mid-City for the first time since K will draw bigger crowds?

Woowee, 19 inch must be big! We have a 17 & I find it a little heavy. Is the new one a lot heavier than your old one?

Glad to hear those dates work for you too!

Thanks for the compliments on the bath! I'm so glad we succeeded in it not looking like a "handicap" bathroom!

Don't know if we'll be going to Endymion this year or not. Our friends still have their house over there, still working on it. They haven't said if they were going to throw a party there or not. I wish they would, but my gut tells me, probably not, it would bring back too many memories of the good ole Pre-K days.

I just checked schedule for Endymion and no we will not be attending that one ,, I couldnt remember what day that one was. We wont be to N.O. until that Monday. Actually we will be in for Chaos and Muses and Babylon on Thursday the 31 and I hope we will be in on this Sunday, but not sure about that yet.

I was hoping to hit the parade here in B.R. tonight, but its so cold and raining so i guess we will skip it.... UGHH i hope its not like this tomorrow night too, we have another one on SAt night too. Shoot, B.R. finally starts getting N.O. style parades and it looks like we will miss them all this yr :sad1:

Thank you, thank you. It really is luxurious, I feel quite spoiled! With the new door in, this morning I was able to turn the shower into a real steam room type experience! Almost better than you know what! ;) I mean s-e-x, not better than Rosa & chocolate!

That's up to everyone. Do we want the DH's along or do we not? :confused3 Either is fine with me!

We went to lunch at Rest. des Familles in Crown Point. I had some very yummy fried oysters! The state counselor was really impressed with our bathroom!

Well, it is kind of heavy, but not heavier than the laptop. I swear, it looked so much smaller at the store! Our old pre-K computer that died had a 20 inch full screen monitor (before the flat ones). Now that thing was a monster- super big and heavy and it was like looking at a big TV!

We're not doing an Endymion party either. Honestly, most of our friends moved away after K, so we really don't have that many people to invite. And more people I know have babies now and don't want to bring them to big parades like that just yet.

We're also going to Thoth on Sunday- it runs on Magazine St in front of Whole Foods and there will be a party for the employees. And better yet, a bathroom really close by!

Don't plan the get-together around me, but if its on the 11th, I have a school auction that night. My sister is chairing the auction and if I don't go, she'll never let me forget it.

My DH will be on the Captain's Float which is the first one. I'll have to get ya'll his exact position once I get it from him.

Lorie, I would expect the crowds to be about the same as they always were. I don't know who's more excited about being back in mid-city: the riders or the revelers:woohoo:

Kathy, I'll bet you looked cute cruising around in the Saturn.:cool2:

Man is this some awful nasty weather or what?

I feel bad for parade riders tonight!

It is storming outside right now! And I had decided to make Irish lamb stew & I don't have any cabbage or beef broth in the house. I'm not going out in this. I'll have to figure out something else to do with the lamb.

My daughter is riding tonight in Excalibur. I'm waiting on word on whether its cancelled or not. This is pneumonia weather:sick:
