MR BACK'S & CO home for repeat offenders Part 2

Hi Gang,

I am trying to catch up. I have not been around much lately, so I am very behind on all the action.

A couple of weeks ago my husband was rear-ended by an unlicenced, uninsured 14-year-old driver. He was bending down to answer a ringing cell phone. The police report says he was going between 35 and 45 when he hit my husband, who was stopped at a red light (the light had turned green, but the traffic had not started moving yet. My husband was third in line at the light).

Thankfully, my husband was not seriously hurt. He just has a little soreness still.

The airbags deployed. Since my car was not new the car was considered a "total loss." I was not happy. Since our last van payment is next month, we were going to be debt free except for the house.

We spent a couple of weeks trying to decide what to do. We were actually talking about attempting to be a one car family for about 6-months.

But in the end, we ending up falling in love with the Toyota Prius Hybrid.

I must be going through some sort of mid-life crisis, because I think the car is the coolest thing since sliced bread. I am hogging the car and not letting my husband drive it. I have NEVER been excited about a car before. They are just tools to get you places. I spend my drive into work trying to pump up my MPG (which is at 49.3).

cadburysmom you are just too cute! ::yes::

castlegazer after I strained my eyes, I could see a glimmer of a woman and a crying beautiful baby. :) Your daughter is precious.

That stork bite will fade. My first baby had one and his only shows now when he is angry or in tears. It's smack dab in the middle of his forehead, just like your precious angels. Look at this nice head....see anything? :sad2: Nope, me neither.

OH and speaking of heads, hers is beautifully rounded and not cone shaped at all!!!! Must be from the quick pushes. ::yes:: Notice the different head shapes above? #1 stuck in birth canal, difficult birth. #2 easy birth. See it?

castlegazer My youngest has a stork bite on the back of her neck. You can barely see it now.

Bad mom story - I did not even realize she had one. I thought all of the tags in the onesies just made her neck red. I even had a co-worker offer to cut a tag out of her outfit when she saw the red mark. It wasn't until she was about 3-months old and my mother in law came to see her for the first time. She was all excited because she had one in the exact same place and so did my DHs brother.

is absolutely gorgeous. I thought that "Stork Bite" was natural with natural childbirth and will fade. (If I am wrong you can always make up a story of a wikd-eyed Republican ultra-rightwing tattoo artist ;)...) Seriously, it should fade in time, and I think TagBabyIan likes looking at her picture...

OK, I can't sleep, No dis for me tomorrow, inventory time...

:bounce:

Hm well...my mom tells me I should either being doing a) history or b) clean for my grandparents...I'm not really sure which is worse. I think I'll choose clean ::yes::

Good Morning friends! No time to be colorful! Just wanted to make a quick post before rushing back to work. I'll check in this evening while DS is on visitation.

OMG OMG OMG!! i have a puppy, i have a puppy!!! he's SO cute!!! but im so stressed....i dont know how to potty train a dog!! how the heck am i gonna pay for mr. don to build him a small kennel thingy outside?!?! how am i gonna sleep tonight w/o worrying about him "pooing"{my 7 y/o sister said that's the APPROPRIATE way to say it:rotfl:} on my stuff?!?! ugh. maybe i can get him to behave....i hope so!!
Get that cute puppy a crate!::yes::

....yep, crate training is the perfect answer. Dogs have a "denning" instinct and actually like a safe warm place to curl up and call their own. Keep him in the crate at night til he's fully trained. Be sure to take him outside first thing in the am and just before he goes to bed at night. Dogs don't like to sleep where they um, poop, so he will learn VERY quickly NOT to poop or pee in his crate. He will cry at first because, of course, he'd rather spend the night curled up to his cute new mistress ;) but I GUARANTEE you it is worth it and will save you many headaches and from cleaning many little "messes" in the end. Do you have a fenced in yard? Keep him outside as much as possible and reward him when he "goes". Also, whenever he "goes", praise him and use a special word everytime he "goes" and after he gets used to it, you can take him outside, say that special "word" and he will automatically "go" on command...yep, that's Pavlov's dog theory put to good use :teeth: :p

PS...edited to add this works with labs and goldens who LOVE the outdoors...not sure about little dogs...but from what I've heard, your breed of puppy, Australian shepard, should be one smart cookie, and will probably catch on right away:)

....Oh, and get him a nice, comfy dog bed for the crate and a couple of chew toys....better he chew on those than any of your stuff :p

I tried going on the website, but they don't have it on there :confused3 but i was looking at old navy and they have a cute black with pink polka dots...I might have to try that one on :teeth: i love anything pink or polka dotted :teeth:

Thankfully, my car had been paid off since 2001. The insurance company seemed to give us more than Fair Market Value. However, having a paid for car was worth more to me :(

We were so looking forward to being car payment free next month (our last van payment).

That said I still LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the new car. I have gone more that 300 miles and still have 1/3 of a tank of gas. I have brought my mpg up to 50.2. YIPEE. This is really sad... I think I am going to post more about the car than my girls ;)

Thanks to everyone who welcomed me back to the board! castlegazer, I can't believe a new little disney fan has been born in my short time off.

RRBB - Is little Ian doing better with his shots today. I just had to pick my 23-month old up at daycare due to a fever. Time does fly with these little ones. I can't believe she is going to be two next month. She is still such a little baby.

YEs, thank you. He's doing much better today. Seems to be back to his normal HAPPY self. ::yes::
