Though this might just keep in n the mood for Labor Day area when i take a tour of Congress ; via Viator.com (not part of my Trafalgar.com vacation)

By the way, "Bill" has kindly offered to be my unofficial Tour guide that day so of couse, couldn't say no......

Of course, not to be outdone here ......
I have stumbled onto a rather quirky pastime / hobby
to pass the time if ya will between now and Labor Day.


Its historical in nature......
keeps me busy -
and its fun.


GIVE UP??

(this is now my next challenge as my overall objective is to build a few things that are in the 4K piece range)......


So -
Wish me luck as I have been practicing first starting out on smaller 300 piece things:

(the blue and grey suv vehicle (lower right in picture) was a pain as I have learned it pays to have a sunglasses screwdriver handy just in case to get those pesky leggos in hard to reach places; fyi)


and this one was a total blast building.......my secret??

Lots of patience and lots and lots of margaritas.

After a crazy last few months of Life 101, my vacation (of sorts) now finally begins here in Grapevine, Texas:

I am pretty much so off work all week long but I wont be up in the DFW Airport area until Sunday - which is ok as it will give me some much needed time to relax at Home with Ladybug

, drink some margaritas....





, have fun in the kitchen cooking up a mess of trouble....

(I luv making 5 alarm chili)



while chillin out in the backyard....

watching her find all sorts of critters.... like dem pesky squirrels.

Feels nice to FINALLY disengage from the crazy bump and grind of life and enjoy life.

Enjoying life out at the Great Wolf Lodge -

and -

just came out of a 4 hour spa retreat with them.....

(part of their relaxation room)
Which was a 90 minutes Therapeutic Massage with hot stone add-ons and two 15 minutes foot massage as well as 90 minutes Organic facial with bright eye treatment and an antioxidant booster as well......



NOW,
the view from the room is fantastic ..... very quiet -

and ya can even clearly read the tailfin numbers off the planes as they come in for a landing here at DFW Airport.

I'm off for some much needed sight seeing of downtown Grapevine......

This was our first stop - ok place....didnt really knock my socks off but still ok place.




FYI - Just dont get the two glasses in front of you accidently confused....

(During my San Antonio trip wine tasting adventure , I accidentally mistook the glass on the right for the tip jar.....)-


ANYWHO -
Homestead winery came next - my fav-
But....
Dinner came before we all knew it (tour group of 10 people as we all got gently tossed back 2 our individual hotels around 10:30pm

5am came with a vengeance d4 I knew it....

Am out celebrating now by of all things quietly drinking margaritas in the lobby of the g Wolf Lodge and having fun just people watching ....-

imho, Great Wolf Lodge is a fun place to go to chill out and have some fun while acting like a kid - Besides, I let u in on my very first character interaction (shortly) here at the Great Wolf Lodge breakfast buffet earlier this morning ....

About to head out for a 10a-2p spa retreat followed by lunch (where?), video games at their arcade .......

Been fun but gonna get Ladybug checked out of her hotel 4 "extremely spoiled Pooches" in the am......

But until then, we gots an evening of “wine down” with some Pinot Noir wine, truffles and later on -

and -

some mazarella cheese bread laced with some assorted spices = yum !!

Again, will post pics and such in a few days I promise—- including the reaction of A family (with three kids)when I gave them all my tickets from playing in the hotels video arcade 4 over 2 hours .... priceless- made my day 2b able to do something nice .... and can’t forget the reaction of the gift shop workers when I told them about this ( that’s where I got the bag from to hold all the tickets )- stay tuned

Ok- just booked a 4 day land / 4 day sea vacation with DCL coming up in September of next year - a celebration if ya will of finally - getting the interior of my home totally and I mean totally redecorated with (come October)... .Nebraska furniture mart things ( new furniture, wireless stereo tv, table top pool table , etc) - details coming up (as well as a trip report blog as well) and will b posted of course once I get back from wash dc area in September ....
Besides......I'm getting just a wee bit ahead of myself.....bought some pins off of Ebay -

and of course, what would a tour be without a ghost story or two?

"On 10 December 1887, Charles Kincaid, a reporter for the Louisville Times wrote an article describing the shameful actions Representative Preston Taulbee (D-KY) engaged in with a young female clerk and their frequent “trips” to the Patent Office. Congressman Taulbee grew frustrated as Kincaid exaggerated the story over the years, resulting in Taulbee’s character in constant question. On 28 February 1890, Taulbee spotted Kincaid standing near the southeastern stairway in front of the House Restaurant and lunged at him and pulled his ear. In retaliation, Kincaid pulled a pistol from his coat and shot the Congressman, wounding him severely. Taulbee died from the wound eleven days later at Providence Hospital, Washington, D.C. on 11 March 1890. During Kincaid’s trial, he claimed self-defense and was acquitted. Dark stains remain on the steps of the southeastern stairway where Taulbee’s blood dripped from the fatal wound. Staffers and guards have reported sightings of Taulbee ascending and descending the staircase where he was shot, searching for Kincaid in order to enact his revenge."

(just recently added this 2my Hot Wheels collection- a '67 Camaro (Real Riders)
Who knew there would be such differences between their Red liners & Real Riders cars?

I guess that just means I have that much more time to add to my newly formed Hot Wheels

and of course, ya cant forget about

BUT.......
just when things havent gotten crazy enough,
I just booked 8:30pm dinner ressies at Ebbitts Grill.



boogy on back to the Hotel late at night (after some 'ritas & Key Lime pie) at Ebbitts and then be at the Library of Congress at 7:45am the next morning for my Viator.com tour of the Capitol Building.



What can I say? I vacation like I mean it -

As I tell ya what, my pre-day (Friday) is getting to be right about where I want it to be as I seem to be having issues with Fords Theatre (everything else is a "go") .....

so......
just on a whim as I was looking at Google maps this morning -
it suddenly hit me....

Why not take a tour of this house?

So keep yer fingers crossed as I just submitted my request this morning.
Should that not work other alternatives I have are:

1) The National Portrait Gallery.
2) White House visitor Center.
3) Old Post Office Museum (they have a section there on the Titanic)



But yes, I def plan on having a "few" slices of key lime pie and some rita's (heavy on the 'Mar") while as Ebbits as I can tell that day is gonna be quite fun and busy.

and what a 'funner' way to cap off a fun day that with some key lime pie and margaritas.....that's after nibblin' on some fine food at Ebbits -
yum!
