Very drab looking kitchen (from the photo on tripadvisor). No more pretty tile backsplash although getting rid of the tile countertops was a good move. Bland colors.
Except for the shuttered cabinet doors how is it supposed to make one feel like they're in Key West?

The only photo I could find on Trip Advisor that look different than the current room, looked photo shopped. There wasn't any tile behind the kitchen sink. It just did not look right. I don't think that is a legit photo.

It's glass or polymere, The SSR manager told someone at the member's meeting that they are doing away with grout so it sounds like they are putting it in at SSR also. Just like Bay Lake. Easy to clean I suppose. That's a legit photo (the one on the review saying they've stopped in the refurb room) I'd say- they'd have to be a genius with Photoshop, changing the TV cabinet, the appliances etc. Amazing it took them so long to decide on such a minor renovation isn't it?

I'm feeling like this renovation at OKW is very secretive (what does it look like?) and keeps getting pushed back further and further. It doesn't give me a warm, fuzzy feeling.

I just came to ask if the OKW renovations were complete. I'm thinking about a stay in May/June. I'll take this a, "not yet."

They aren't supposed to be completed until mid-2019.

The bathroom re-do is the bit that will take a while. Tile demolition and replacement is not rapid like softwoods or just pulling appliances and replacing.

Another "unofficial" rehab report.

Just got back and we had engineering in to fix the sofa bed, one worked on some of the rehab so we asked a few questions:

• the whirlpools are staying but being redesigned for easier maintenance purposes
• the pedestal sink being replaced with a counter-top setup
• shower stall changing to one with double glass doors (he didn't consider it "kid friendly")
• all new tile in bathrooms
• king is staying
• 2 queens are staying
• roman shades are staying (yuk)
• improved kitchen lighting
• ceiling fans are staying, maybe switched out with newer models
• tall bureau in king room going - same size tvs in bedrooms
• larger tv in living room with redesigned kitchen island counter (as pictured)

He wasn't sure about the kitchen table and had no info on theme. I forgot to ask about the laundry room.

When we checked in at SSR on Wed had a nice conversation with one of the managers. He was doing a sell on the 2019 renovations being quite extensive. I, for one, hope they make the shower door entryways wider.

I'm not convinced. The OKW rehab was delayed 10 months due to how extensive it would be (big design changes after feedback) and the kitchen cabinets are exactly the same as the ones appearing on the first DVC promo video which is on YouTube. 26 years and counting....
