Calling all Princesses! (2014 Princess Half Marathon Weekend)- thread #2

So I ran today for the first time since the 1/2. That was interesting because before I had a goal for running, now I don't.
Any suggestions on how to stay motivated until November?

I have 2 5K's in March and May but nothing beyond that. I'm going to continue on my weight loss journey (hated my foto pics more than I thought I would) but I'm not sure where to go from here.
I do need to work on speed but I don't know where to start. Do I go back to C25K and try to get faster?

I don't remember (sorry) if you're a straight runner or a run/walker but in my "between times" (especially when I can get outdoors) I like to work on reducing my walk time. I'm really comfortable with a 4 min. run 1 min walk for a half but try to be able to always straight run a 5K. So that's where my goals go after a race. I may get my first post WDW running in today if the schedule fits or tomorrow after my class if not.

I now have 2 months before my next half and then 1.5 months till the one after and plan to work to increase my endurance to keep having 'clean' intervals longer into the race-

I finally had a 'great' race on sunday running the excalibur 10 miler and was my 2nd fastest time ever and shaved 6 min off my current proof of time- I was down to 13:09 avg mile vs the 14:00 for princess 10k and 14:46 for princess half...

Time to kick it into high gear. I took the plunge and I am signed up for the wine and dine. My first half and I am terrified but determined. I hope me knees hold out. Lol

I'm not sure if anyone suggested this already. If you have a running club near you, that can be a great way to stay motivated. Join them for a couple of training runs (they usually have people running at different paces). You start going to races in your area and knowing the other runners. We volunteer at some of the races that ours organizes. It makes it a lot of fun to stay involved in it. Other runners are great resources of information too if you're ever injured, want to increase speed, etc.

We do have a running club, they host our summer runs. They are kind of intimidating though because they are all really really good. I feel so stupid out there sometimes.

I am a run/walker. That's my goal is to reduce the amount of walking time. Even if I'm slow at running, I'm still faster than my walk.

Woohoo!!! I get my refund check tomorrow so I hope to sign up tomorrow night. You will rock it!

Has anyone who ran the GSC purchased and downloaded the Glass Slipper package from MarathonFoto?

If I purchase the GSC package do I get both the 10k and Half photos? Reason I ask is I only see my Half photos on the left hand side to preview but the option to purchase GSC on the right...I dont want to go ahead and purchase the GSC photos and not have my 10k included...

I didn't think the wine and done was going to get that high in percentage that fast. Wow.

Do any of you guys use the Galloway method? My training for the 10k was kind of on my own, but I want something more defined. I don't understand the warm up instructions. lol

:thumbsup2

well crap! Guess I need to make a decision now. Thanks for letting me know.
Hope you registered - W&D is closing out now!!!

Finished up my Enchanted 10K recap! I was kind of iffy about it immediately after, but it grew on me as time's passed. Think I'd really like to try the Minnie 10K next year!

Loved your report. I'm glad I'm not the only one that laughs at the wrong way signs on Disney race courses. Gets me every time.

Similar to funny road signs, during the half when we were running under the mk area gates, my sister and I couldn't stop laughing about "speed bumps, slow down!"

For those of you on the fence about signing up for Wine and Dine, it is officially sold out. Some people are pretty miffed on the wine and dine thread.

Can't believe how fast wine and dine sold out! At least I was following it and my friend and I made an informed decision that neither if us can commit right now. Would have been nice to have more time to decide, but we were both in the same boat and could see the time was short! Without a school schedule for next year, and all the arrangements we'd have to make, W&D may be a race we'll do when all our kids are in college!

Loved your report.
Thank you! :goodvibes

Definitely not the only one! I think I saw one that said "No pedestrians" or something like that too.
:rotfl: Not the only ones at all! I crack up at every silly one of 'em.

:thumbsup2:lmao: Okay, true story - NO ONE was broadcasting the speed bump message when I went through the MK tolls booth during PHM. No loudspeaker, no volunteers yelling, nothing. That's a freaking rD TRADITION, people! So I took matters into my own hands and yelled it out: "ATTENTION RUNNERS - SPEED BUMPS AHEAD!!!" I got a few chuckles. :)

We opted to not register. I'm just going to do the Princess for right now.

Loved your re-cap! How are you liking the Brooks Ravenna's? I bought mine for the Princess and I love love love them. So much that I think I'm going to go get a few more pairs just to have them stashed away.
What corral where you in for the 10K? I think I might have seen you getting a pic in front of the Dwarves.

Weeeelll... some days, they feel like the best shoe ever, and others they feel like bricks attached to my feet, lol! I'm finding that when my body is tired, it really needs the extra stability of the Ravennas, but when I'm fresh and rested, they just get in the way. So I still really dig 'em, but I'm still working out just when they should be worn.

Oh too funny! I started in C.
