Official Avengers Super Hero Half Marathon Weekend 2014 Thread!

Did they say you don't get it? There is a special ticket you can buy even if you are off site that includes one magic morning at DL only not DCA.

I emailed GET travel and the reply was that their tickets are like military tickets.

Anybody staying at Hotel Menage?
=D

Or has any one stayed there in the past. Never have been to disney and I am concerned about the distance of the hotel and race morning.

Also, are Disneyland races similar to Disney World as you get up at 2am and get to the start by 3am?

EEEEK! Getting nervous now.

We just experienced our first WDW race after several at DL and we NEVER get to start at DL as early as you have to here. Granted, we don't care about being at the front of corrals either. This seemed like a waste to us.

Thanks! My husband and I ran to the Princess in 2013 and stayed on property so getting to and from the race was planned by me. For this race it was just far more economical to stay off property. So, I'm just concerned now that the race is so close with specifics.

And for me, I don't care where my place is in the corrals.

I have never stayed there but have 2 sets of friends who stay there and like it. As for walking over on race morning you'll have to first walk over the freeway overpass to get to the other side of Harbor. After that you'll have about a 20 minute walk down harbor, through the esplanade and DTD over to the race start area. You could always take advantage of the free shuttle. That will take you to the esplanade basically.

I'm staying at the Hojo on Harbor so I'll have a 20 minute walk in the morning. I'm planning on leaving the hotel about 4:30. I dont care if I'm in the back of my corral so no need for me to get there more than 30 minutes early really.

I just want to give everyone a 'heads up' about the GET Travel discounted tickets. I just found out that, because they are discounted, you do not get the Magic Morning/Early Entry with the 3 or more days. You have to be staying at a Disney resort to get the early entry. I don't know if that changes the park you will visit. I'm a WDW vet and I know it makes a difference there, but I'm not sure about DL/DCA.

Is the discount very much...?

I'm staying at Menage. It's my "Go-to" place since the Disney properties are horridly expensive. It's a nice warm up jog over to the DL Hotel. The tiki bar there is nice and you have the best view of fireworks from their pool area or the walkways from the pool view rooms. I've heard there is a free shuttle that will drop you at the esplanade on Race morning. I'll be leaving at 3:45am but I'm hyper nervous as this is my first half marathon.

And thanks for everyone who responded =D

Ankle is getting better every day. Anyone have amy good stretches for the tendon on the outside of the ankle? I've been slowly working it out just by pointing my toes.

Stretches, no. But try icing it a few times a day, every day. And maybe get taped up at the KT tape booth at the expo. I had tendonitis on my inner ankle for Tink and the KT tape definitely helped me through the 10K and Half that weekend.

Hard to believe the race is this weekend! I'll be flying in Saturday morning and after getting my packets and park tickets, I'll be hitting the parks.

I'm staying at the Castle Inn & Suites.

For anyone that's been at a DL race before, do they have food before you go to the corrals? Since we'll be lining up early, I didn't know if I should prebuy some snack foods like bananas and bring it with me to the race.

I'm used to running at WDW and this will be a whole new experience for me how they do it at DL.

Do you guys know if anyone is able to watch runners in Angels Stadium? If so, how early should they get there?

Thanks. It is definitely tendonitis. I can walk with out crying or shooting pain. It just feels like it is super tight. It was fine this morning then hurting a little now. I can bear weight and move pretty fast on it it just feels off. I am definitely waiting in line to get taped.

I don't remember them ever having any food before the race. I'm usually not there more than an hour early though. I'd plan on bringing some food with you if you want something before the race.

When I had mine they had me icing 4xs a day, wearing an ankle brace most hours of the day (the lace up kind, as it got better just the velcro kind), taking motrin the first couple weeks and strengthening my calves. The calf stretch I remember and still do is holding on to something (chair, counter), going up on my tip toes, bend one knee back so your weight is just on the one foot, then slowly lower that heel back down to the ground (about 10 seconds), repeat 15 times for a set, do 3 sets, both legs. I did not wear my brace for either race. The KT tape definitely helped me out. It was worth the hour wait in line.

Good luck!

You might try some massage, too. Tendons don't have nearly the blood flow as muscles, so anything you can do to help get more blood moving is good.

Getting one in about an hour :)

I really think I need new shoes but know this week is not the time to make a switch.

Did everyone see the merchandise sneak peek on Twitter and Facebook!!! So excited for the Dooney and so glad they are having a medal replica pin! By the way anyone have any guesses as to why Iron Man is nowhere to be found on anything related to this race??

I want the Dooney so bad!

I have heard that Ironman is not on it because they are saving him for an official runDisney ironman race! They did one in the early years of runDisney and now that they are super popular I would imagine we will be seeing them as official runDisney events soon.

Oh wow.

So much shopping...

I want almost everything on that page :)

Costume is almost finished too! Nothing like leaving things til the last minute.
