Anyone watching Manifest?

I watched. Terrible acting, especially that main blonde girl. And the writing and story line....meh. I will watch a couple more episodes to see if it gets better. Maybe they just had to rush the story for the first episode and now it will slow down.

This is how I felt too but will watch again to try it. My dh and I don't usually like the same shows so hoping we end up liking this; however,
I did watch A Million Little Things and although totally different story line, I immediately compared the writing and acting to Manifest.

I wanted to watch it but we were travelling and missed it. Just as well, we don't really need another series to get caught up in. We have hours of DVRd stuff to catch up on now that we're back.

I caught the rerun of the pilot last night because the TV happened to be on. I will DVR the next few episodes and see. I only watched Lost for a couple of seasons before I gave up on it.

The whole sci-fi premise of time travel or some kind of space/time warp usually falls apart after a few episodes. There is only so much side story to follow-up on then it loses its novelty.

I watched the first episode. The acting wasn't really that good. The crying scene was especially bad. We were laughing at it. The story was interesting though so I'll keep watching.

I kind of liked Stephen King's theory of why time travel is impossible in the Langoliers. Because ravenous fur balls eat time.

I remember that show, but I don't even recall what the storyline was when it was pulled from the network. How about the show where that community was enveloped under a dome? This type of show seems to fall apart pretty quickly.
That show was actually called "Under the Dome" and it was supposedly based on a Stephen King novel by the same name. It had been decades since I'd read Stephen King, but for some reason I felt compelled to read that one. It wasn't half-bad but right from the get-go the series completely and absurdly departed from the book's story line. :confused3 Pretty inexplicable too since I'm sure acquiring the rights wasn't cheap. It devolved into utter nonsense and I'm sure I'm not the only one that felt watching it ended up to be a complete waste of time.

I got all involved in Lost(cried when Charlie died).

If I am remembering correctly, Under the Dome was the first try at running a new series in the summer months, and it did surprisingly well, so that may be why they deviated from the original story, to milk it as long as possible.

I am a sucker for sci-fi shows so will give Manifest some more time. I have been burned before though, some shows lost their way, and some didn’t get enough ratings so the questions were never answered.

Under The Dome was such a heavy read. There were so many characters and so many storylines..even for him. I was so disappointed in the ending like really, I read for four hundred million pages and that’s the answer?

As for Manifest, I wasn’t too impressed with the first episode but I’ll give it a few more watches. If it starts to veer towards angels and religion, I’ll stop watching.

I agree with that 100%! I loved the concept of Under the Dome, but it was soooooo much. I did have to refer to the cheat sheets at the front of the book, that explained who each character was, more than once. But the ending, just ugh. He always has problems with endings, but this was just dumb. I made it through one and a half episodes of the TV show before I gave up.
It was just bad.

So then I'm guessing you didn't watch the new series that premiered aftor 60 Minutes last night? :-)

I started to watch the one after 60 Minutes. I wanted to like it. Watched about 15 minutes then went back to the football game.

I finally watched. I was mildly interested and will keep watching. Just not sure how this concept can hold up over the course of a series.

So many holes in the story! The main character guy seems to be struggling financially - they would have gotten a HUGE benefit from the airline as well as any life insurance payout. Why is is his sister staying with them, not her dad?

I think she was living with them for a while before the trip.

No, she (SIL) said something like, "We kept your apartment as long as we could." But we don't know if the dad is now in a retirement community or something. The PP is right, though, that the airline would have paid up, along with insurance companies. I can understand wanting to find a job, and needing basically every item of clothing and other possessions.

Well last night's episode turned me off. I am not interested in horror/gruesome murder stuff. Also the story line is not intriguing to me, the hook of the trailer that peaked my interest is already gone. I do not watching much TV and prefer to read. So back to that for me.
