I'm on FIRE with the updates now! Wanting to get on to my next TR so I can keep your magic just coming and coming.......
Such a great night with friends on the 6th! We had one more full day in Disney and I'd really wanted it to be a good one; we were getting through this trip with no sibling fights and having a general good time. Unfortunately Ricky's food really looked bad when we got back from Crew's Cup and that changed our plans for our last day, July 7th.
As much as I knew he should stay in the room I didn't argue when he said he was going to come with us to AK bright and early. He had asked for 2 days there to get 2 rides in on FOP and he was not about to miss out over a swollen foot - heck, it wasn't like he'd gotten more holes drilled in his knee for the 3rd time! So off we all went and got there for 8:00 EMH, going straight to the safari.
We saw one of my favorite animals who strangely had been missing the few months previously, Mr. (or Mrs.) Okapi!
Not sure why I love him/her, but I do.
Then we saw a WHAT?? of hippos? C'mon, if you don't know the answer why are you even here? (BLOAT for you forgetful folk)
Now that the requisite safari pics are posted I'll move on to the sad Burudika picture we snapped after our safari as we ate breakfast:
Little side rant but getting rid of these guys really pissed me off. They always had a crowd and upped the atmosphere and experience in Africa so much! I was sitting on the side of the stage last week on my work trip and it was so barren and desolate; they have speakers playing African music
Nothing wrong with African music but it should be LIVE!!
Back to breakfast. We had run out to get there early and were now pretty hungry so we stopped at Kusafiri right outside the safari. Ricky tried a sausage egg and cheese biscuit which none of us had had there before and said it was pretty good! Chris had my staple Disney cheese danish while I tried something new;
I think this is the elephant ear? It was pretty good; very flaky and light. But I'll stick to my beloved Disney danish next time. Something else I tried for the first time was this!
This gorgeous Bloody Mary is from Dawa Bar in Africa and I think is or used to be called the Dawa Mary but it isn't on the online menu nor is it on the menu hanging up at the bar. But it's nice and spicy with candied bacon in it so what more do you need?
Ricky's foot was getting more painful as he walked but we weren't up for our FOP FP yet. We had EE next! I managed to get 2 smiles despite ones' pain:
And this crazy kid rode EE again for the 2nd time EVER!
A happy Chris = a weird day lol
And THEN because the line wasn't long we did it AGAIN
Whoo! We were having fun and this also saved Ricky's foot a bit since we only walked right back on. At this point he was limping and obviously trying to hide how much it hurt and I felt so bad for him But he would NOT leave before FOP so luckily it was coming up soon! On our way over to Pandora we grabbed a new to us snack at Mr. Kamal's, chicken dumplings:
These were good! Nice and crispy, nothing to go "oh wow" over but a nice treat to hold us over a bit. We were planning on going to DS for lunch and then Epcot.........right after FOP Ricky and Chris hightailed it out of there while Steve and I did a bit of browsing and shopping. Our 3rd FP was for the safari again but since we'd ridden already the kids were ok missing it and so were we; it was HOT. We came across this dance party going on
Right before I took this picture there had been a band of sorts playing on the stage while the characters danced with guests. So cute! Our boys met the Brother Bear guys over in Canada in Epcot many moons ago. I don't think this is happening anymore but I'm not sure; we did see it in August but not Sept when we were there late afternoon.
We were ready to say good-bye to AK for the time being (not knowing at the time we'd be back the following month!) and with Ricky's foot we really didn't know what the night would have in store for us. Therefore we were in no rush and decided to make a pit stop at another resort on our way back to the Contemporary.
Anyone want to guess where we stopped off
