Jambo! The newest AKL Information thread

I don't mind the long walks to get to my room because the longer the walk the quieter the halls are. Also, you can't hear the fireworks at night, a plus for us....see my theme here. With the world being noisy we enjoy quiet after a long day. The food is awesome at Jiko and Boma, the lobby is beautiful and the CM's are very nice. It has become our favorite resort now. Only drawback are the buses not always on time and sometimes full since they pick-up at Kidani first.

The worst bus service I’ve had at Walt Disney World was at the Grand Floridian, go figure! I know it varies depending on when you’re there but the AKL buses have never left me wanting.

I’m a huge fan but not here to sell anyone on the animal kingdom lodge. If you don’t like Animal Kingdom Lodge there is probably another resort that would be perfect for you!

Anyone currently staying at AKL? I check out this morning and have half a case of unopened water bottles and would like to give it away to someone since I cannot bring it on the plane with me. Please let me know!

Has anyone ordered in room dining using the deluxe dining plan? Can we order off of an app or do we have to call directly? There will be seven of us and it sounds like it might be a bit complicated to order that much food if I have to do it by phone. It’s our first time staying at AKL and I cannot wait to eat some fantastic food sitting on my balcony watching the animals.

I used a dining plan to order room service breakfast at Wilderness Lodge a while back. I am not aware of any way to order other than by calling but they walked me through all of my choices and it wasn’t any problem.

We did it at Poly & had to call.

Worst bus service I ever had was at GF too. A lot of ppl who aren’t staying at the resort come to visit & eat & clog up the bus system. Plus, it picks up Poly first. We prefer Poly if we stay monorail. But, excited to try AKL this next trip. We have stayed at Kidani but never AKL.

Hi everyone! I am so excited to be heading back to beautiful AKL this summer to celebrate our 20th anniversary! We are renting DVC points for a standard view studio. I was wondering where the DVC studios are located (trail/floor??) Thanks in advance for your help! :)

The DVC units are on the 5th floor. Congrats on your anniversary, you could not have picked a better place to spend it!!!!!

Our party of 7 has a 2br reservation at Kidani (through Disney). What are our chances of getting a dedicated villa vs. a lock-off?

Also, are there towels at the Kidani pool? I saw mixed reports on this, but those reports were a few years old.

Thank you!

Not sure on the first part but the Kidani pool definitely has towels.

Plans are set finally! We will be returning for our second trip to Kidani Village on 1/7/2020. This time we will be traveling with a group of 9 and it will be everyone's first stay at Kidani except my wife and I. Very excited!

Is it possible to get late check out on departure day? They changed our flight time and now I'm thinking of changing our flight to depart 5:55 pm. We are using the magic express and I think they still leave 3 hours before departure. So we wouldn't be leaving until about 3:00 I'm guessing.

I got until 1:00pm last August.

Just an update on our bus experience at AKL Jambo. From Jambo to the parks the buses have be on time. We have not missed a bus due to it picking up at Kidani first. Our longest wait for a bus was about 10 min. From the parks has been fine too.Seems to be a bus every 15-20 min.
I was concerned about this when I booked, so glad we didn't shy away from AKL because of buses. It's been a great stay so far.
