Any DISers from Wisconsin?

I live within walking distance of where you grew up Tinijocaro lol. Great neighborhood!

I have relatives a couple miles out of Wauwatosa... I saw someone was from Manitowoc, do they know where Chilton is? (more relatives ;))

Yup...I'm from Manitowoc. Yes, I know where Chilton is. Don't go there too often (we bought our van their though!), its actually about 1/2 an hour from here maybe?

Wow, Hi everyone from Wisconsin! :wave2:

Lived in Coloma--went to High School in Westfield.

Went to school in Oshkosh for one year--worked in Wisconsin Dells during the summers.

After one year in Oshkosh, moved to Madison. After school, marriage and kids, moved to Waunakee.

One child currently at UW-Milwaukee, and the other at home going to MATC in Madison.

Ex hubby & in-laws from Milwaukee--just off Bluemound near the zoo.

Thank goodness it didn't snow as much as it was supposed to! I am SOOOOOOOOOO sick of it! I'm looking forward to Arizona in a few short weeks...we're going to a couple of the Brewers spring training games! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Oh yes, and to chime in on the Summerfest discussion, I went with my sisters for the first time in many many years (we used to always go when we were little) and I will NEVER go again. I just don't like it. We were at the Daughtry concert, which was fun but by the time it was over it was getting even more crowded...not really for me.

Another Wisconsinite checking in. I'm in Wauwatosa (Milwaukee area). I met Jeff and Big V at a few Dis meets several years ago. Hi everyone :wave2:

My dad went to Tosa West for high school.

from Milwaukee - pronounced "mill-e-wah-que" which is Algonquin for "the good land."

LOL...that line is from Wayne's World, when Wayne and Garth go to Milwaukee for the Alice Cooper concert, and Alice says that and they all look at him like he has five heads. LOL!!!

I am right across the Superior WI bridge, in Duluth, MN. Is there anyone that can tell me about Eau Claire? I've only been there once but I liked it. We might go there again this summer as a "mini vacation". is this a bad idea? ROTFL!!!

What is the town like for mini-vacations?

I have never heard of anyone going to Eau Claire for a vacation, sorry. I know the University of Eau Claire is in town and there is a bridge that crosses the st. Croix river at the University. It is famous, because David Letterman considered it a top ten place for one of the "Coldest places in America".
You would be better off, going down to Wisconsin Dells. Don't get caught in the tour traps down there, just do, like the Duck and boat rides on the Wisconsin River.

anyone go to the renenance fair in bristol?

Yup, this past year down to watch the Cub's lose.

Wisconsin Dells seems to me like the best tourist attraction in the state, from where I have been. Mt.Olympus, Kalahari, and Wilderness are my favorite :)

That's such a co-inky-dink! I attended Jefferson Elementary School until 4th grade.

How's your ds doing on viola? (I'm a elementary string teacher) What's he working on?

I just heard something interesting on the news just now....apparently Johnny Depp will be shooting a movie here in WI in the near future. They didn't say when or where exactly, but they said that Baraboo, Richland Center, and Oshkosh could be in the mix.
Those new tax incentives could lure a lot more producers to shoot movies here, bringing in a lot of new income to the state.

An article that I read earlier in one of the student newspapers on campus said that Johnny Depp would be starring as a bank robber in this movie.

Wow, you remembered that? Lol! He's doing well, they're playing in a festival of strings concert next month. The only song I remember is Ode to Joy. I hear him practice the others, but I don't know the names of the songs. I really like the orchestra teacher, she was very creative with their Christmas concert. She wrote some dialogue about a girl discovering music and the kids played songs to go along with the story.

DS doesn't go to Jefferson, so we must be on the other side of North ave from where you grew up. Small world!

Former Wisconsin Diser--

When I got old enough, I moved far,far away from the cold, snow and ice.

Used to live in Racine. Went to school at UW-Milwaukee--got married--moved the Janesville, but worked in Madison. As soon as an offer for my DH came to move to Houston, we packed up and left. Now, I hate any day colder than 60 degrees.

We still have family and friends in "the Wizz," and they keep telling us about the snow and cold. I remember those days wondering when spring was ever going to come.

Still huge Packer fans--I was sick to my stomach during the Packer v. Giants Game. Can't wait for next season.

Just announced officially today. Depp is going to play John Dillinger in "Public Enemies". They said they will be filming in Baraboo and Columbus. I work with someone who lives in the Columbus area and they are pretty excited.
